exactly... ! he sings the same like on his CD , because he is using auto tune.! can you hear a funny warbling sound in some of the lines he sings?? thats auto -tune technology ..! he uses it live as well as on CD
yes they can mess with the singing during live shows too, but im pretty sure he uses it, it just that , you are finding it hard to make out the sound live , cause you are used to hearing it
the over-autotuned effect was put on the video afterwards, it's not what it was like live, it was probly added for the purpose of this youtube video to make him seem worse
- It completely sounds like auto-tune at several moments in this video.
- Michael Bublé uses AT/pitch-correction more often.
Con:
- If you listen closely, between 0:40 and 0:50, you can hear that the instruments have the same "shock" in the notes. This would mean that the effect on his voice has to do with the video-recording.
- Why would that AT-effect only be in a few parts, instead of the whole song? He bends notes during the whole song, without the AT-effect!
@Mooseboy2358 Obviously, after 14 years of playing 2 musical instruments I dont understand the concept of a "note". There are 2 video defect ,the rest of the weirdness is pure autotune glitching. Get your shit straigh. Btw learn what "note" is.
@Mooseboy2358 Here we go, the "my wiener is bigger" reply. The autotune is there the whole time, his voice sounds far from natural. Obviously you blindly ignore the facts just out of affection for this guy, thats your business, not mine. Bye.
@zachattack0628 I like the rock-steady style of Sinatra. Buble is too showy, positive, upbeat and happy for me. I like my crooners steeped in martinis with a hint of tragic past in their eyes.
wow, i was never a fan of Michael Buble , I always liked Sinatra more, but i have to say, this version of the song is better than Sinatra's , by far, at least to me. But all in all , Frank Sinatra is a legend and always will be .
Great singer! But auto tune can't be done discreetly anymore. He's got good enough pitch control to just sing. He seems to loose some credibility in my mind every time I hear that machine. If you're someone in attempt to be like a Sinatra, that's not a great idea.
As for "Buble is as good as any you will hear", that's insulting to all the decent singers out there who could knock spots off him. To use autotune ON STAGE you have to be pretty desperate, because it's extremely hard to cover it up or soften the effect.
Bublé's first national TV performance was on a 1997 award-winning Bravo! documentary titled Big Band Boom!, directed by Mark Glover Masterson. Bublé received two Genie Award-nominations in 2000 for two songs he wrote for the film Here's to Life! ("I've Never Been in Love Before", "Dumb ol' Heart")
its definitely not auto tune....... if you listen to the music surrounding around when he says "finger" it has that weird glitch thing happening in it as well, and thats in the piano and bass, so its not auto tune or it wouldnt happen to the backing band either, obviously this video was either taken from a a vcr recording or something happened during compression, but it is deffinitly not autotuneing
he is NOT using autotune! God, can't a talented man be just that... talented? It's possible to sing in tune without sound engineering. What has it come to when people assume that just because someone is in key that they are using autotune?
WTF? Why can't people have real musical talent....Sinatra had NO problem singing in tune......ah....the good ole days where you actually had to be good.....but the truth comes out anyhow..
lol at most of the people saying this is autotuned.... There HAVE been times he's used it (there are vids with proof) but this is def. not one of them....
Fantastic performer. It's obvious that there was a slight auto-tune effect added. Slow down, intelligent finger-pointers of the obvious. Where did the auto-tune or effect come from? Did anyone besides about 8% of you commenting bother to think about this, or what? Rhetorical question, by the way. Dont ever say what you think - Say what you know. Its frustrating seeing all of these claims about auto-tune, yet not a spec of proof.
Hm, no finally I don't know if it's autotune cause I have no idea of what that is so I cant judge... but it's true on other videos of this performance it hasn't got the strange sounds like at 0:40-0:42 !
I don't see why they use Auto-tune, it's so stupid to digitally mess with voices and his voice is great. You can hear the autotune very well at the beginning. At the first "finger" it's a-w-f-u-l !! And I like that song so much. =(
WTF are you wankers on about .. why don't you go autotune your digital dicks and shove them in your ear where they belong ......... you lot couldn't do 1/100th of what this guy does so go fuck off to disney land where you belong - you pretenders !!! There wouldn't be a musicians arsehole between you lot ...dickwads!!!
no worries mate - I can't take these laptop experts that know fuck all going on like they wrote the book on whatever takes their fancy...... dead set morons the lot of them......... if you put autotune in their hands that wouldn't know where to start with it ...... proof that you don't have to have a long neck to be a goose !!
Can i just make this clear to people giving negative for every 'autotune' comment...the video is glitchy yes, but autotune is present
BUT its not even michael. hes got a fantastic voice. his engineer (David Foster) is a complete perfectionist, and has a problem with natural vocals. (he tuned neil youngs vocals!!)
so yea, David Foster put them on the track, not Michael himself, he may not even be aware of it!
Michael Buble is a great talent in the tradition of Frank Sinatra. Here he is singing one of Sinatra's signature songs! Guess what! He gives his own version of it and it's great! MIchael has charm, a great voice, and he's a joy to watch. It is great that someone of the current generation is able to sing such great songs with fun. He "rocks."
its impossible for a true jazz singer to use autotune, jazz singers (like michael) do too many fills and voice modulations which autotune cannot read. Not to mention that his voice sounds nothing like an autotuned voice, even on the album (You mean to tell me he sounds like T-Pain? cmon people)
learn the science of what autotune is before you accuse people of using it
Hey wow...I think you should read up on your 'science of auto-tune'. Have you ever used the plug-in?! It is more than capable of any 'fills and voice modulations'! His vocals are sooo clearly auto-tuned!
Don't lecture people when you dont know what your talking about!!
The T-Pain effect is when auto-tune is set to extremes. Fast tuning, relaxed note choosing.
Buble's live performance would OBVIOUSLY not be set up like that, which explains why the effect is more subtle, but not even that much!
sure he has talent, but its pretty obvious right at the beginning (:40-:42) that he's using an autotuner. Im not knocking him for it though, he would be stupid NOT to use autotuning during a live performance in which he is singing a legendary song by Frank Sinatra.
Not saying he's a bad singer or performer, he's brilliant at both, but his live producer has got autotune on his voice, at least for the first 30 seconds of the song, at which point I think he relaxed the retune speed.
I've been working as a producer for years, and have resorted to autotune on many occasions to sort out vocals, so I'm very familiar with even the subtlest autotune effects, and this isn't subtle at all!
If you mean the 0:40ish its not auto tune,if you listen carefully the whole sounds (piano is so obvious) is changing which is because of digital conversion, you can also watch other videos of this performance (watch?v=QAcn1L5g7QE)its not there
I can hear the digital conversion fault in the piano, but it does not occur at the same time as the vocals. Have you ever used Auto-Tune?
The Auto-Tune effect occurs several times as he changes notes.
If I cannot convince you on this particular video, there are many forums on the internet talking about Michael Buble's use of Auto-Tune in live performance and on CD.
If you find proof that he is not using auto-tune, then I would most definitely NOT be disappointed! :-)
yeah i've used auto-tune many times and am completely familiar with its features and also risk of using for live performances and i cant claim that he or any other singer don't use it,im talking about this particular video.there's no pitch correction in this performance.
and hey you claim somthing you need to prove it,not that ask me to prove its not!
Why are people putting - . What this guys said is true. It really is anything but subtle. Also. The orchestra is autotuned to some points. Ruins his latest album. This isn't music. This is clinical. Much rather them play without it.
Agreed, thanks man. It's good to know that someone doesnt think im crazy :-P. Yeah his latest album is robotic, completely throws off the style he's going for.
Yes. its set to work in the key of the song e.g 'C Major', and if it detects a note that isnt perfectly in tune, it 'corrects' it. Alot of artists use it in live performance, and i would go as far as to say that more than half of pop music is using it.
kinda figured he wouldn't use autotune, though. I mean, he likes doing all that unscripted stuff in the middle of songs, and autotune would hinder him more than help him.
He is such a cool DUDE but we all no that already been a fan since 1st discovery the Buble in 2003 & also met & spoke with him & Emily Blunt in 2007 was also at the book signing & think to myself "Oh Why Didn't Tell Him This & That I can kick myself we only had a minute to speak while he signed my book he is a HOTTY!!!

No glitches , that`s auto-tune software...sad but true
peterkray 1 year ago
@peterkray There were glitches, obviously you don't understand the concept of a "note".
Not that it matters, fantastic performance by an amazing singer.
Mooseboy2358 1 year ago
@Mooseboy2358 Obviously, after 14 years of playing 2 musical instruments I dont understand the concept of a "note". There are 2 video defect ,the rest of the weirdness is pure autotune glitching. Get your shit straigh. Btw learn what "note" is.
peterkray 1 year ago
@peterkray Well as I've spent 13 years learning 3 instruments I'd like to hope I gather the concept.
So before you make another pathetic attempt at musical snobbery, get your own shit straight.
Btw, learn some decorum.
Mooseboy2358 1 year ago
@Mooseboy2358 Here we go, the "my wiener is bigger" reply. The autotune is there the whole time, his voice sounds far from natural. Obviously you blindly ignore the facts just out of affection for this guy, thats your business, not mine. Bye.
peterkray 1 year ago
@peterkray the autotune was added after to take the piss. that's pretty obvious.

however, if Buble reminded us how great Sinatra was (and still is). Otherwise we would've forgotten most o the songs, eg. this one

@psychopath43 Dont get me wrong Buble is great, but Frankie is irreplaceable.
zachattack0628 1 year ago
@zachattack0628 I like the rock-steady style of Sinatra. Buble is too showy, positive, upbeat and happy for me. I like my crooners steeped in martinis with a hint of tragic past in their eyes.
HeavyMechanics 1 year ago
wow, i was never a fan of Michael Buble , I always liked Sinatra more, but i have to say, this version of the song is better than Sinatra's , by far, at least to me. But all in all , Frank Sinatra is a legend and always will be .

Great singer! But auto tune can't be done discreetly anymore. He's got good enough pitch control to just sing. He seems to loose some credibility in my mind every time I hear that machine. If you're someone in attempt to be like a Sinatra, that's not a great idea.
camtanguay 1 year ago
best version i've heard. I love the old sinatra version, but he made it his own.

Oh god almighty that's utterly horrible autotune.
fii-III-ii-nger

TeamSylar 1 year ago
its definitely not auto tune....... if you listen to the music surrounding around when he says "finger" it has that weird glitch thing happening in it as well, and thats in the piano and bass, so its not auto tune or it wouldnt happen to the backing band either, obviously this video was either taken from a a vcr recording or something happened during compression, but it is deffinitly not autotuneing

he is NOT using autotune! God, can't a talented man be just that... talented? It's possible to sing in tune without sound engineering. What has it come to when people assume that just because someone is in key that they are using autotune?

lol at most of the people saying this is autotuned.... There HAVE been times he's used it (there are vids with proof) but this is def. not one of them....
NoelyDeezNutz 1 year ago

LoveConnieAndTH 1 year ago
I don't see why they use Auto-tune, it's so stupid to digitally mess with voices and his voice is great. You can hear the autotune very well at the beginning. At the first "finger" it's a-w-f-u-l !! And I like that song so much. =(
But despite that it's nice of course

Can i just make this clear to people giving negative for every 'autotune' comment...the video is glitchy yes, but autotune is present
BUT its not even michael. hes got a fantastic voice. his engineer (David Foster) is a complete perfectionist, and has a problem with natural vocals. (he tuned neil youngs vocals!!)
so yea, David Foster put them on the track, not Michael himself, he may not even be aware of it!
Artists are messed around these days! :-(

He "rocks."
jefflevin18 2 years ago
its impossible for a true jazz singer to use autotune, jazz singers (like michael) do too many fills and voice modulations which autotune cannot read. Not to mention that his voice sounds nothing like an autotuned voice, even on the album (You mean to tell me he sounds like T-Pain? cmon people)
learn the science of what autotune is before you accuse people of using it
werdchester 2 years ago
Hey wow...I think you should read up on your 'science of auto-tune'. Have you ever used the plug-in?! It is more than capable of any 'fills and voice modulations'! His vocals are sooo clearly auto-tuned!
Don't lecture people when you dont know what your talking about!!
The T-Pain effect is when auto-tune is set to extremes. Fast tuning, relaxed note choosing.
Buble's live performance would OBVIOUSLY not be set up like that, which explains why the effect is more subtle, but not even that much!

man, auto=tune? serious? no way. its all talent. michael buble is awesome no doubt about it
jrstreetmonsta 2 years ago
sure he has talent, but its pretty obvious right at the beginning (:40-:42) that he's using an autotuner. Im not knocking him for it though, he would be stupid NOT to use autotuning during a live performance in which he is singing a legendary song by Frank Sinatra.

It's the video, not autotune. You can even hear it when the backing singers are singing at the start.
SeAnBaRr94 2 years ago
THat must sound hilarious. Michael Buble using autotune. Too bad he is just too genuine for that.
Xephrocrsith 2 years ago
Not saying he's a bad singer or performer, he's brilliant at both, but his live producer has got autotune on his voice, at least for the first 30 seconds of the song, at which point I think he relaxed the retune speed.
I've been working as a producer for years, and have resorted to autotune on many occasions to sort out vocals, so I'm very familiar with even the subtlest autotune effects, and this isn't subtle at all!
Sorry to disappoint :-S
benrawlesacoustic 2 years ago
Don't worry about disappointing me. I didn't know and someone else did. I take em as a lesson to be learned.
Xephrocrsith 2 years ago
@benrawlesacoustic
If you mean the 0:40ish its not auto tune,if you listen carefully the whole sounds (piano is so obvious) is changing which is because of digital conversion, you can also watch other videos of this performance (watch?v=QAcn1L5g7QE)its not there
sorry to disappoint you!
alpimusic 2 years ago
@alpimusic
Ben.
benrawlesacoustic 2 years ago
@benrawlesacoustic
yeah i've used auto-tune many times and am completely familiar with its features and also risk of using for live performances and i cant claim that he or any other singer don't use it,im talking about this particular video.there's no pitch correction in this performance.
and hey you claim somthing you need to prove it,not that ask me to prove its not!
alpimusic 2 years ago
Why are people putting - . What this guys said is true. It really is anything but subtle. Also. The orchestra is autotuned to some points. Ruins his latest album. This isn't music. This is clinical. Much rather them play without it.
AlikSmirnov 2 years ago 2
Agreed, thanks man. It's good to know that someone doesnt think im crazy :-P. Yeah his latest album is robotic, completely throws off the style he's going for.
benrawlesacoustic 2 years ago
what so if you sing slightly out o tune this autotune corrects it and it comes out of the amp in tune?
ivangrayskull 2 years ago
Yes. its set to work in the key of the song e.g 'C Major', and if it detects a note that isnt perfectly in tune, it 'corrects' it. Alot of artists use it in live performance, and i would go as far as to say that more than half of pop music is using it.
benrawlesacoustic 2 years ago
@benrawlesacoustic Haha its not even like they've have subtly used it here its used way to much in this performance and just sounds awful.
eliixr 2 years ago
@ Seanbarr94
nice catch. You're right. no autotune. :25
kinda figured he wouldn't use autotune, though. I mean, he likes doing all that unscripted stuff in the middle of songs, and autotune would hinder him more than help him.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing.
