Understand that is not only a celebration of Diwali, but also a reaffirmation of the importance of Asian Pacific American issues in the US. This ceremony was a tool to bring light to those issues. The performers performed a song that blended Hindi, Arabic, and English, to demonstrate and exemplify the multiculturalism that defines the Asian Pacific American Identity. I believe that it was an apt choice and performed particularly well.

Christ is not the same god as that of the Old Testament. One asks to turn the other cheek, while the other orders that children and infants be slaughtered (1 Samuel 15:3). The Muzzie Allah is even more ridiculous, albeit consistent with the god of the Old Testament, in terms of violence advocation.

Understand that is not only a celebration of Diwali, but also a reaffirmation of the importance of Asian Pacific American issues in the US. This ceremony was a tool to bring light to those issues. The performers performed a song that blended Hindi, Arabic, and English, to demonstrate and exemplify the multiculturalism that defines the Asian Pacific American Identity. I believe that it was an apt choice and performed particularly well.

And FYI, Arabs are part of the Middle East, not Asia or the Pacific Islands. And apparently "Aicha" isn't an Arabic song to begin with, it is African. So, no way was this song appropriate for the occasion.

For me, this, is another part of WHY President Obama duly deserved the Nobel Prize : to so exchange with ALL Communities, mostly those composing The United States, living for and from Them, do is the beginning of Peace. yeah i guess it was a weird song choice on penn masala's part. but in india and other south asian countries, the holidays of many religions are ntl holidays so non-hindu Indians are used to celebrating the cultural aspects of diwali. and maybe the algerian song is popular amongst muslims in other countries? idk, i don't really know much on this topic : )

well it depends, a lot of hare krishnas realize the significance of the jagganath temple ans lord jagganath, im indian myself and a very religious one, but i know so many "hindus" that call themselves that but dont even know the meaning, but they're are allowed in even when the are eating meat and are unclean,they should have some kind of criteria for letting people in, i agree, but it shouldn't be based on skin color or birthplace,it should be based on your level of devotion and understanding.
