  • what is the name of this music in the background. Also, could someone let me know how I get more videos of these monks? As a child I saw a VHS when they showed these katis, but one in particular I do not know the name seems to be the handle of a butterfly or another variation of the mantis. Thank you for your attention.! And sorry for not knowing any English.

  • Kung Fu Panda,

    Eat your heart out. XD

  • These guys are good. Looks like they may have added a little flash to the animal forms for the sake of entertainment maybe. Me and 2 others took a kung fu style and the instructor gave us each an animal style based on his opinion of our personalities. One got Tiger and the other one mantis. I didn't get an animal style...but one that was practiced by monks. He must've thought that my personality was like that of a monk. I might've unintentionally had him fooled. Heh XD

  • Toad, Mantis, Tiger, Duck, Crane, Scorpion

  • they trained endlessly

    .

    butterbean ate fried chocolate burgers

    .

    butterbean would win

  • People dont have much interest in this type of martial arts, but they do have interest in others. (like MMA). Everthing else is just showboat.

  • looks nice but not functional at least in these days

  • I HAVE to find those robes

  • I heard of Squirrel, beaver, and muskrat style, but never frog or scorpion style!??! How many more animal techniques do I need to learn before learning how to fight? Frog style looks like a good defense against BJJ and MMA. I will have to learn it.

  • people dont have much interest today in martial arts and sadly since everything runs on economy even the martial arts houses run on money so they use flashy and cool looking things to keep attention. its a sad way to be but if its what it takes to keep martial arts and it's indomitable spirit alive then so be it.

  • Bruce Lee is the Legend!

  • how about termite and worm style?

  • @alangname lol

  • As impractical as many of the movements seem I still think the point is to hone your reflexes and be prepared for awkward positions. If someone pushed you down from behind you might get them back with that "scorpion" foot to the face.

  • ok scorpion... can someone explain that stance to me. I understand that it mimics a scorpion but you aren't mobile while on the ground like that. maybe it's my Taekwondo teachings talking but it doesnt seem useful to me. that crane sucked too

  • Too fast, too sloppy, too wild.

  • where is the leopard? the snake? the dragon?? and what a poor crane was!!! :-(

  • Mantis has always been my favorite.

  • yes

  • scorpion??? awsome, is this what scorpion in MK is practising???

  • it is actually Toad, Mantis, Tiger, Duck, Eagle and Scorpion

  • i eat them all

  • srry , but there is way to much kipping and acrobatic filler for this to be taken seriously , like really the eagle doing the worm , come on >:O

  • This has not got to do with chinese Martial Arts.It s Wu Shu Dancing.

  • what about snake?

  • scorpion looks so cool

  • First is frog, second is mantis, third is Tiger, fourth is monkey, fifth is Fly Grou(Crane) or Fly eagle, sixth is the scorpion!!!

  • Second isn't Mantis, it's snake...

  • @MyNameTaco

Nope, Mantis. Look at the attackforms with the hands. It's more grabbing then focused attack. And snake is a little bit faster

  • can anyone, who knows more about wushu animal styles, point all of them out. because i'm a little bit confused. thanks in advance!

  • I'm not sure, first is frog, second is snake, third is Tiger, fourth i can't make out, fifth is crane, sixth I can't make out.

  • I really wish there would be more application videos.

  • Nice performance art, no martial art though

  • ...eagle claw was not a Shaolin style, it was developed by General Yu Fei in the 12th Century, and the others have way too much excessive tumbling...wushu in monk uniforms, performance art as kung fu=(

Physically they are very impressive athletes and performers, which makes me wish they had been displaying such virtuosity demonstrating traditional martial techniques and exercises.

  • agreed. it's a shame that traditional shaolin kung fu is being replaced by fancy looking wushu

  • its not being replaced, its just that for the casual kung fu spectator, wushu typically looks better

  • @drchango2010

But all styles are inspired by shaolin. Eben Karate, Judo and Taekwondo was created by people who practise kung fu and the first kung fu was shaolin.

That's what my Sifu told me.

  • @Cornerless Shaolin did "change the game" but martial arts in China can be traced back to around 1500 BCE, two thousand years before Shaolin Temple was founded. The big deal about Shaolin was Tao Mao, who brought military "yoga" exercises from India that he had learned before becoming a monk. This served to revolutionize martial training.

  • @drchango2010 Basically ALL "shaolin monks" are wushu athletes dressed in monk robes, coz after the shaolin temple hv been burnt down, they lost countless and precious manuscripts, and now they are basically trying to "reclaim" what they hv lost by making it more acrobatic and stuff. Not real martial art(including shaolin) man its more of a performing art,now and forever will never be the deadly art which was born 1500 yrs ago. Peace bro.

  • @MechPhantom Martial art was originally started with Indian royals fighting tiger infront of his subjects to show off his strength. So the origin of martial art was performance art. Deadly or not so deadly never the less an entertainment. :)

  • @dokkiro Yea ,but kung fu i hv to say is the most worst of all, most performance oriented type of all martial arts. That why 99.99% of kung fu its not effective, but the 0.01% like wing chun, choy lay fut, hung gar, that different those martial arst dont really hv performace stuff and still remianed virtually unchanged, just street fighting non fancy lethal techniques designed for battle and streets, unlike shaolin, wushu all useless in fights.

  • @MechPhantom Western boxing is really under rated as self defence. Western boxing happen to be the origin of wing chung. I disagree wing chung was a huge influences on Chinese martial art. I hate to say this about martial art but.. They were show offs in the beginning. They were very much like the snake oil salesmen of old west

  • @dokkiro Yea but still these shaolin and wushu are still the worst show offs ever, who knows they might not even know how to hurt a fly behind all those useless fancy stuff

  • @MechPhantom If they can demonstrate they can catch flies with chop sticks they are all real. I've done it. Only once in my life but that 0.3 of a second holding that tiny fly with chop sticks before it escaped unharmed. That was the most blissful moment of my life. But anyways I'm not becoming a monk. I'm just not worthy. First I like sex. Second I don't like asking people for charity while beating a wooden drum. 3rd but not last or the least I like eating meat. No human but whales r ok 2

  • @dokkiro haha i dont know wat u say is true or not lol and i hvent seen any vids of these monks doing that,i think its fake for the monks capable of doing that. But u maybe u can do it , but yea still these monks kinda suck in fights, coz all they do is perform, maybe some fighting but not as good as people who ONLY train to fight. But yea i too like sex hahahah !!

  • @MechPhantom well first off I intentionally practiced for that goal. 2nd the way I was holding those chop sticks I had about 2 cm space of cramp. 3rd it was trapped with me in a small room. 4th I admit that fly was extremely lucky to have survived my chop sticks. 5th but not least. It's not impossible.

  • @dokkiro wow cool man ! yea nothing is impossible, but ghow long actually u take to master or do that skill haha

  • @MechPhantom about a week. And only half hour with the lucky fly. Let's just say I was kiddin. You say it like It's big deal or unbelievable.

  • @dokkiro wow dat was a fast reply haha no wonder now i know u can catch the fly haha. Nah its kinda cool lol im not ignorant like most people are,yea u got skills man haha peace bro,i waan try dat later hahah

  • @drchango2010

The tiger set here runs the sequence of an actual traditional set, it is just very extended and has added tumbling, but realize this is for a performance, usually to entertain an audience of people that would not know how to appreciate a well done traditional set.

  • @drchango2010 Once again I agree with you. It's really sad to see people associating running, skipping, tumbling, and doing "the worm" with martial arts. It ruins the integrity of the noble roots of the true traditional styles by masking it behind a circus-like facade.

  • what is the song of this video?

  • que beleza!

  • amazing

  • toad

    mantis

    tiger

    eagle

    crane

    scorpion

  • @CerKon The fourth style is a modern Ya Quan, that is the Duck Style. The fifth is the Eagle style (Ying Zhao Quan).

  • @CerKon actually, not eagle, it was duck. but eagle does sound much better

  • whats the name of this variation of kung fu?

  • that look great but it not great to fight with this thecnic it more show off

  • That depends on what fight it is. In the military field, it's next to useless. In a bar with a drunken idiot, it'd be great.

  • strange that the chinese signs they show are the ones for tanglang quan which means praying mantis fist.don´t mess with a linguist

  • these dudes can breakdance!!

  • Third one looks like Drunken Fist, which is unusual since that's not an animal, but that's all I've got.

    The only ones I'm completely on are;

    1) Frog

    2) Mantis

    5) Eagle Claw

    6) Scorpion

Please visit my profile if you have any adivice !

    Amituofo !

  • I wonder how strong those people are.

I Saw them into the game mortal kombat and got interested into those people when I heard that they really are a group of monks Which perform and almost breathe martial arts. Is this information right.

And how about the power of those people into there own fighting styles. Into the game only thing you find them is dead into the fires of The tarkata races.

I know it's a game and this is real life but just interesting into those people.
