It's insulting this game even exists. That they thought *this* is what we wanted. That we were too damn dumb and lazy to be bothered by the complexity of a real city simulator (the sandbox we all found truly enjoyable). Seriously, it's not a "Sim-" anything, it doesn't simulate crap, and the game is horribly easy. Save for the parts wherein it makes no logical sense, like when building police stations raises the crime rate, wtf? This game is sim-city for people suffering from downs-syndrome.

this game is really fucking demanding man. Ive got an Nvidia GeForce 9600GT video card, 2GB of ram and an Athlon x2 2.7Ghz cpu and it lags so badly on the highest graphics. and my city only has 13,000 sims in it. SimCity 4 is alot better then this game.

If The Sims 3 works with my computer, it should, my computers about average, I'm guesing u would need about 1 gig of ram for it to work perfect and no slowdown, if u search system requirments lab in ur search engine (google, yahoo, etc) u will find a website that u can search a game on there and it will say what it needs to work good

yes, i have a cyberpunk city, mixed with industrial and authority aspects and i have old timey cars, futuristic ones, modern day ones....my sims are gloomy and down while my well of sims are really happy. heavy smog over my city as well

Societies in my opinion is a disgrace to Sim City. We need our nice little zones back. Only thing that I would want different from Simcity 4 would be so that the difficulties should actually slightly effect how easily skyscrapers are made...

After reading so many reviews & seeing how split everyone seems to be as far as hating or loving SC Societies & how it stacks up against SC4, here's an idea: They ought to take SC4 (Rush Hour of course) & re-release it completely redone w/ a full 3D graphics engine.

The "Settlers" series franchise did exactly that: "Settlers 2" was released in 1996 but in 2006 it was redone & re-released w/3D graphics.

Love or Hate SC Societies, I don't think any SC fan would be able to resist that concept...

hard to say how it is flawed? try the fact that it's nothing like its predecessors if you can call them that way. this game isn't about managing and planning a city... it is about building every freaking building and every freaking detail without of course the real challenges a real city mayor would have to deal with (traffic, pollution, zone balance and a lot more).

I bought this game and it isn't even worth 1/10 the price I paid... really it is simply a childrens game not more than that.

You just layed out that city horribly. No offence. You have wind mills ON your roads and taking up valuable space for coporate buildings. Also, There was no need to build that road to that venue. It shouldnt go around it, but it sould just go past it and the building should be touching the road north of it. And just to let u guys know, This ISNT SIM CITY 5 it is just a variation of SimCity. PLay SimCity4 for REAL city simulation.

I played that game, 2 problems:

the original SCS works, but if you have a big town the speed really down.

The patch #2 crush the PC.

don't flame me, but from what I can see from the video simcity brings customisation to the simcity franchise, giving it a much more crafted city look. whereas you couldn't really recognise what you build in simcity 4, in simcity societies you can say "yeah, I built that office block there".

I think it sucks building roads, like you mentioned, it wants to decide where the roads shall go by itself... much better in simcity 2000 where you can put roads however you like it (I don't know about the others because I haven't played them much)... I have to say you built a bad city, that's probably the flaw, you just put everything everywhere... I think a part of the game is to plan how to build everything too

Come on now, I am sure this game isn't as bad as anyother game. EA has said that this game isn't a sequal to SimCity 4 or anyone SimCity. It's just a seperate game using the SimCity name. Hmm... a completely different game it would seem to our much known and loved traditional sim city gameplay. However this new social engineering aspect would seem that the improvement in gameplay is in fact a scaled up version of The Sims and not a strict sequel to Sim City 4. Change can be a good thing, so we will wait and see, my copy of the game should arrive in a week.
