Read his stage presence. Yeah, he could be an asshole, but only if you were a stupid groupie slut. This is the same with anybody, if you act unreal, no one respects you.
This is a treasure of a song in many ways. This song captures freedom with its curious wonder,and sheer delight in the wine and the feast of pleasures.Jim is on this ship and invites us to drift along the aqua marine infinity with the crystal ship a vessel of pure bliss eternal.
its one thing to hold him on high, as an artist he was great, but as a personal friend you might have been just as easily told to screw off by him so....whatever..
@CGonzales033 my point is we like his music but people pump musicians up so high yet he might have been the biggest jerk on the planet and no loyalty to you hes just a guy, just sayin...

I used this song for identifying poetry in English Class:( I <3 The Doors. No one really knew what this song was . when I told them it was The crystal Ship by The Doors they Just said "OH" andshook their head with a blank look on their face.

Beautiful picture and sound; thanks for posting. I miss Jim and the Doors, but I don't think Jim would have fit in very well in this day and time. Hate to say it, but he and so many others who belong to the "27" club, came, laid some awesome music on us and then left. I'm 61; lived and enjoyed almost every minute of that time. Music was great, most everything else was for shits--like now. Maybe that's why the music was so good back then. Glad some of you appreciate their work.
@blademaster3142 me to, that's what Paris means to me the resting place of my god, i am only in England so it is very near yet every year comes and goes and i still haven't been. In our show in Las Vegas (Echoes of the 60s) we cover the Doors, Santana, Joplin, Hendrix and much, much more. Check us out! REAL musicians. REAL music. We respect the decade where music was really music. Some of the best songs ever written!
I read somewhere years ago that this was about hard booze. "The crystal ship is being filled" is a glass of whisky or similar. And getting drunk is a metaphor to boarding that ship. Jim liked a drink so it could be autobiographical. But who cares? It's a great song.
Im sure Jim Morrison and Pamela Courson is both at peace now, they both were addicts and both were two totured souls, like Bonnie and Clyde, but only difference Pam died 3 years after Jim :)
I don't think that woman in the water is Pam Courson. Pam had long red hair. This woman has short, blonde looking hair. They look like they are out near Palm Springs, CA having a swim.
Absolutely fucking beautiful. I'm a 17 year old, and I kinda rediscovered (if that's the right term?) the Doors and couple of months ago. They're now my favourite ever band. I'll NEVER get bored of their songs, however many times I listen. In my opinion, they were the most influential, and best band, by a long shot, in the history of music. They were on a completely different level to the beatles, stones etc. Absolutely incredible band, and Jim's philosophy should live on. World would be perfect
@lvivboi As a fellow Doors fan for nearly half my life - I would agree they were and are the best at what they did. But be careful about believing in "Jim's Philosophy." If you listen close to his candid moments with interviewers, he basically admits his only philosophy was rebellion and chaos. Look where it got him. I miss him so badly, and think it was a most high tragedy that he followed his own philosophy... unhypocritically.
@low72 where the hell did I say I was better than anyone? I was merely pointing out that it's unusual for people my age to be interested, like I am, in the doors. What the fuck is your point, you grumpy fascist.
@lvivboi You never said anything about it being unusual for people your age to be listening to old music. People like u in a way think you're better then the majority of people cus ur young and listen to old music. You have to bluntly state your age like we're suppose to put you on a high horse. I see it on EVERY classic video. "I'm __ years old and blah blah blah" Guess what, you're not the only 17 year old that listens to this music. I just don't understand why you always have to put your age?
@lvivboi Oh, and I'm not grumpy, I just don't understand why you people constantly feel the need to boast your age. Ok, so you listen to this music and your 17, so what? When I was your age (3 years ago) I wasn't boasting that I listen to this music. I didn't feel the need like I had to prove something. It's immature and annoying and played out.
@lvivboi Ok, if it's not boasting, then why do you feel to state it? Do you see people like "I'm 28 years old and...." or "I'm 40 years old and..." ? No. It's only the kids that are trying to prove something. Music is universal, age doesn't matter. That's all. I say good day to you, sir.
@low72 Well, I liked the comment because of the second part - in my opinion they are truly influential, but i wouldn't say that they are the best ( how can you state something if you haven't heard the others, that is subjective) and I too can't get enough of them. I think that every band has their own style, you can't compare them. I don't like people saying their age, that is totally irrelevant and annoying, music is important and univeral, like You said. I think he sort of wanted recognition.
@lvivboi ...indeed Ivivboi most influential...quite a prophetic take from someone only 17. I don't know if the world would be perfect but he will live on!
@lvivboi - Rock on bro! I believe that The Doors were unique on so many levels, they cannot be compared. They (like all bands) came into being for their own reason(s). This band for myself is a consciousness related genre. Meaning that one really needs to be on a different level of vibration mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc...to get them. I'm 43 and although I've had the privilege of hearing them all my life...it's only until recent that the music truly resonates deep, strong and thru.
@ScholarConsciousness I don't know much about the "consciousness related genre", but I do know I love the DOORS, and this is one of my favorite songs from them. I'm 44 years old and my way of relating is after a week of working ... getting drunk with Jack Daniels and listening to classic rock.
@Mraodom1966 - "getting drunk" is a way of changing your perception, sure...but there are so many other ways of doing so with much safer and more beneficial drugs to do them with. Especially when listening to music. Peace!
@ScholarConsciousness That's exactly how I feel. You expressed it beautifully! :) (I'm 22 btw)
I think Jim wanted us to trespass onto "the other side" and get our own perception of the deeper meaning of his lyrics, to find that state of conciousness where every lyric resonates with ourselves. I hope he knows that people still appreciate his lyrics and poetry to this day. :)
@ScholarConsciousness They're one of those bands people tend to either love or hate. They were so unique no middle ground was allowed. This is the song that cemented my love for The Doors - so much so I wrote a poem about it

@lvivboi "I'm a 17 year old, and I kinda rediscovered..."
What's up with all these teens thinking they deserve a cookie because they listen to The Doors.
Nobody cares about your age you're sitting there trying to get a thumbs up on your comment.

Peace!

@ScholarConsciousness That's exactly how I feel. You expressed it beautifully! :) (I'm 22 btw)

@DoorsChick1967 Ok then young lady....Let's see that poem!
