Big the Cat is in because the Sega team thought it would be funny, and no other reason. The only character from those ones you listed who should be in is Knuckles, all the rest can just fuck off straight to hell because I don't want this game being taken up by fruity big-headed animals leaving no room for some characters people actually want to see like Ristar or Ryo Hazuki in a forklift.
