you should haul some composted steer or horse manure in and amend that soil. better yet start a mulch pile and work the mulch in. maybe that soil can take potatoes or onions but i doubt much else will do well in that heavy clay. i have heavy clay soil that i worked up into raised beds with mulch and composted steer manure, now it grows anything in it and is as smooth as a babies bottom and a dream to work. if you're soil is not black you're not doing your job to improve your ground.
Seeing as I am little and on the non-muscle side of womanhood, I can only do so much. Also, I don't have the time it would require to get the soil to a perfect level. In fact the guy next to me who does have muscles only has marginally better soil and he spends a lot of time at the plot.
The soil is heavy with clay. I could have spent my life getting it to a fine tilth, but in truth, you don't really need it to be sand fine to grow things in it - unless of course you are a gigantic veg grower or want stereotypically shaped veg. My onions are always large and round if you are wondering.
Wow, gardeningyear, you sure get lots of great advice, don't you! *giggles*
Anyway, thanks for the video.

You need to have a finer filth. IE the clods need to be broken up before planting.
