  • One of my all time favourite gigs supporting Simple Minds, Dublin, June 1986, Waterboys were the best thing about the show although Simple MInds competing with a thunder and lighting storm as a backdrop came a close second.

  • nice

  • gone fishing

  • wow thanks for the youtube book...

  • The sentiment is poetic and pure,it's well written to be sure.

It reminds me that the brilliance of people with "ADD" is everywhere in those things worthwhile.

Most of the most memorable, the most worthy lines ever written were written by people with "ADD"....I spot it in people, especially in musical lyrics ,it's time to drop the disorder label.

  • @bootlegapples ADD is just people who have a hard time concentrating, and they daydream a lot, These people are better at putting pieces together but they have a harder time gathering pieces so to speak, but the school system doesn't value that form of intelligence. That can't test ones philosophical prowess, or creativity, but they are very valuable. ADD is related to Trancendental Meditation. Some people meditate naturally.

  • @bootlegapples Those with ADD are just people who have a hard time concentrating, and they daydream a lot, These people are better at putting pieces together but they have a harder time gathering pieces so to speak, but the school system doesn't value that form of creative intelligence. • @gabehampton

"Those with ADD are just people who have a hard time concentrating"

We pretty much agree ,I would modify that statement by adding that ADDers have a fluid form of attention where outside stimulation is not suppressed.I think selective pressures for certain environments not only accommodated but selected for it.It's an attention variant.

And that's why I value reflection and night time walks,I am more at ease...no sensory overload, no BS human distractions ... time disappears

  • @bootlegapples I'm (almost) 39 and was constantly berated and degraded for "daydreaming" and "forgetting'. It has a name today but when I was at school, i was just "backward" and "difficult". Today I am a writer, a mystic, a poet and someone whom others come to for advice, comfort and understanding. I have been accused of being profound, wise and knowledgeable. I have been encouraged to join MENSA because of my apparent IQ. I am just me. And i like to wander - in my thoughts as well as the world

  • @99EbonyRose

"And i like to wander - in my thoughts as well as the world"

    Yes! and Yes!...

"constantly berated and degraded for "daydreaming" and "forgetting'"

    ditto :(

EbonyRose I swear I know you, just from that blurb you hot ticket! (eh eh)

Myself I like Music (playing it),philosophy and a billion other things, went from top level classes to the "hamster" classes because I could not remain alert or awake sometimes. It had to interest me to work but that requires my OWN path to learning,

  • last time l saw the waterboys live- they did their tribute to wb yeats at the barbican this year-- l really enjoyed that show but they didn't play the hits- so here we go london feis 2011- what's on their song list? l have no idea but l'd settle for this one plus the bang on the ear- the pan within- old england and don't bang the drum

  • Some tune this! I first heard it on the film "Waking Ned" class!

  • Comment removed

  • @gruilet (aka cabeza de mierda)- This is a 20+ year old recording that The Waterboys were perfoming 5 years before its release on an LP. What was Celtas Cortos doing when this was released in the spring of 88? They hadn't even released an album when this came out. I just listened to their version, and while it's pleasing, it's totally lifted from this. Imitation is the sincerest form of of flattery. Crap, CC's vocalist even rips off the vibrato & hoarseness in his voice on the same passages

  • @gruilet I just heard Celtas Cortos' cover of Shenandoah and the lead singer actually sounds like he has some sort of learning difficulty.

  • first heard this live on glasgow green about 20 yrs at the fleadh runrig i think headlined and i still love it

  • the waterboys what can i say.i remember good times listening to these songs.my fur raises listening too them

  • This is a great song.I can't imagine why anyone would have checked dislike

  • I am the lamb of god. Make oh that what you will. But i will explain everything. From creation to damnation and obliteration in between. What i just heard a burns poem. Ah sweept by canyne, ah coodny wah, twis soilder bayth, way booth a knave. a cooth ta boulder a cooth ta be a swig a buck, tae buck na be. a tanner rose, a buck ta muck nay be, a bloody bath ay n nay wonder. a tanner rose aye and awe that in between.

  • i love thinking about my past when i listen to this :)

  • great!

  • Total genius i never get tired of hearing it, its one of those tracks that take you away to a better place i just close my eyes and listen to his voice and that violin and the goosebumps begin.

  • i say as a joke, fuck the loyalists they never new devotion. no the other way.
