Well i have HD5770 and default clocks for it are GPU: 850MHz | Memory: 1200MHz. When i open up my CCC and go to Overdrive it says Current values: GPU: 400MHz | Memory: 900MHz . This is even lower than default clocks and when i try to overlock them to 960 and 1400 the current values are still 400 and 900 WHY ?

OK so this is what happens. I have a 4800, stock at 855 GPU and 975 memory, Every time I click autotune, all it does is start the process, goes into a multi color screen, seems like its doing its thing for a while, but after like 5 min, it goes into a blank black, blue, or orange screen. It just hangs. I left it on like that for about 6 hours, and it still hangs at the blank orange screen.

Any idea whats wrong?

hey, i have a 4850 and it keeps testing and doesn't stop, i even left it all night to test. i have a 1,000 watt power supply so i know that isn't the problem

@thedarkholeconsumer Most 4850's have weak VRM's, its actually by design. So in essence the card wants to go faster but its being held back. Furmark is a benchmarking tool that was killing 4850's which is how the public found out that most(but not all brands) of 4850's had this issue. So it sounds like your card is tettering back and forth between what it wants to do(clock faster) and what it can do(weak VRM's). Thats my guess anyway.

well i have a 4650 and i can oveerclock the memory core but not the gpu cause when i overclock the gpu the slider says i out it up a bit but when i press apply at the bottom where it says current values it still says 600mhz

I have my HD 5750 on standard clocks..I dont have any idea how overclocking works etc and Im afraid of wrecking my system or my GPU :D a freidn of mine had ugly green\pink pixels on his screen when he overclocked too much and he only added 100mhz to GPU clock and 100mhz to memory clock. I use ati overdrive too, what would be the best for me to gain more performance with no risk with too high temperatures etc. (is Auto Tune good?). THX a lot 4 reply!

@BKsMassive just search catalyst control center download.. its usually at the ATI site itself.. when you open up catalyst control center you goto atioverdrive.. then start overclocking away..

What you were looking at was the "current" speed of the graphics card. Some graphics cards (in order to save energy) lower the clock speeds automatically when nothing graphically intensive is running. So if you run a benchmark or stability test application, the speeds will go back up to what you set it as.

well i`v been reading up and only nvidia cards have seperate shaders ati cards have way more stream processors that can be used for anything which is y ATI cards are so good

well it`s arguable right now ATI has GDDR5 memory which is really fast but NVIDIA is still good to, i am leaning more to ATI cos it is slightly faster and where i live it`s cheaper :) btw INTEL was making gpu`s till now aswell but they aren`t good at all right now the best (and always have been) ATI and NVIDIA

well right now i don`t have much faith in INTEL for making GPU`s but it`s true that NVIDIA has the fastest single card on the planet the GTX 295 it costs alotttttttttttttttt but it can beat the gtx 280 in sli and the 4870X2 go NVIDIA :) but ATI is cheaper and while the performance is gr8 ATI will make something that can match it and will price it lower (knowing ATI) of course then NVIDIA will be forced to lower their prices can`t wait till that comes

auto tune is a big pile of SHIT manual is better i think that you can safely go to 700mhz gpu and 1000mhz memory (that`s what i have my HD 4830 at) but DON`T go to those clocks right away go 5mhz at a time every card acts different so when you start getting problems stop there a good stabiltity tester ATI tray tools has one good one but i use FURMARK type it into google it stresses your card 100 percent so be careful and have good cooling and don`t damage your card PS: u can also use a game

Ya true that. I own the HD 4350 and the CCC let's me OC to a max of 650MHz core and 550MHz mem (600 core 400 mem stock). Pushed it up all the way and still concluded with a happy ending. :D
