  • Wow!!! Incredibly beautiful !!

  • i get chills every time

  • Tragic...

  • Utter Perfection !!

  • Her arm movements actually give the illusion of wings. beautiful.

  • Her arms are so graceful and delicate. She makes me believe that she is taking her last flight. So lovely

  • 3 people who have watched this obviously don't know a wonderful dancer when they see one

  • beauty personified

  • natalia makarova and anna pavlova are my favorite dancers EVER!

  • Best dying swan i've seen.

  • I just can't understeand how she does those arms!! I hope i could

  • Magic, beauty, and grace. It's just....beautiful.

  • Her arms are perfect!! I would melt in her arms just to see her dancing like that!! I would yelled at her "Please swan! Please dont die you are beautiful".......Her dance is simply delightful!! Poetry in motion!

  • Do you guys know what this song piece is called?

  • @PrincessLizRules

It's called "Le Cygne" (The swan in French) and it's by Saint-Saens from his "Carnival of Animals".

  • @PrincessLizRules The Swan by Sait Saens

  • Ok - the arms here represent the swan's wing and must ripple, ripple, ripple thru' to the fingetrips, which are spread as they are to represent the very edges of the wing. Watch a real swan and you will see how perfect Makarova is in this and her Swan Lake. Then, to depress yourself utterly or have a good chuckle, go and look at NP's 'ballet flaps' in BS (rightly abbreviated, methinks)!

  • Arms folded, on tiptoe, she dreamily and slowly circles the stage. By even, gliding motions of the hands, returning to the background from whence she emerged, she seems to strive toward the horizon, as though a moment more and she will fly, exploring the confines of space with her soul... by one swift forward-gliding morion of the right foot to earth, she sinks on the left knee, the aerial creature struggling against earthly bonds; and there, transfixed by pain, she dies.

  • i swear i saw some bones bend there

  • She has at least two more joints per arm than the normal human being. Stunning.

  • Awe inspiring and beautiful. This Ballet is truly a painting in motion, and the grace and elegance of the dancer is extraordinary.

  • wow. to stay that long on pointe. amazing

  • she IS a swan, and nobody can argue that...

  • I'm on the verge of crying.

  • i m a horrible dancer :P... i envy ballerinas, they r really gifted.god bless them

  • @aheru20 I just started taking dance classes and Im on my school team, but I can only dream of being a dancer half as good as this woman.

  • god she is terrificc.. reallyy i love ballett

  • Makarova reigns supreme. My favorite ballerina; her lyricism and technique are superb.

  • wow!!! her arm sure is flexible

  • lets see natalie portman do it like that lol

  • @NinjaTree6 The Dying Swan is not from Swan Lake... This music is by Camille Saint-Saëns, not Tchaikovsky.

  • She is THE swan, I adore her.

  • 2:38

  • SO, so beautiful..she made me want to cry. I loved it!

  • one word -- beautiful.

  • most graceful death I've ever seen

  • awesome I see her wings

  • The fnest ballerina ever.

  • She's so graceful, her arms flow like water, and she has beautiful body lines. :.)

  • HER ARMS!

The most incredible thing I have ever seen.

  • Truly mesmerising performance but the credit for the music rightfully must go to Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns who wrote the music from The Swan "The Carnival of the Animals".

  • Fuera de este mundo Makarova... Out of this world! Totally breathtaking

  • Absolutely flawless!!!! A true swan!

  • she made me tearful-so beautiful is her expression. Those arms undulating like waves of water. Breathtaking-not human.

  • one of the best , I have ever scen, especially she isnt a not a popper or locker, and her waves are like wings full of liquid...so gracefull.

    beauty in its perfection

  • omg her arms are just like wings!!!!!!!! amazing!!!!!!! so graceful!

  • wow

i've been enjoying watching a lot of ballroom and latin dancing recently,

but this really puts everything else into perspective.

this is so exquisitely beautiful and expressive.

  • Elegance and beauty,

    Life's agony and ecstasy.

  • Fragile, undulating wings of strength,

Delicate filaments of life's loves embrace.

  • I've never seen her before... such amazing concentration and commitment, all the while appearing effortless. Her arms were so beautifully expressive. Wow.

  • ..no word is enough to describe the magic of Natasha.......

  • Amazing, the very end - it always gets me.

  • Just speechless...

  • awesome !!

  • Natasha is always Natasha, she was not a dancer but the spirit of dance itself.....so spiritual and poetic

  • :( its making me cry lol. she was soo into that role that you almost 4get ur watchin her dance and u just feel all the emotions. wow intense stuff

  • bravo!!! an excellent dancer !!!

  • amazing how long she can stay on her toes. totally amazing.

  • As 'Schoevia' listed this as 'Education'I make the following comments: Choreography:Michel Fokine

    Composer:Saint-Saëns (pronounced San Son)

    Originally performed by:Anna Pavlova

For me, Makova;s was the purest performance I have ever witnessed & is unsurpassed. Another personal link is that my own Sister played this professionally on the Cello (first desk soloist) with the Symphony Orchestra and I remember her being terrified of it each and every night.

  • What a great dancer!!! Thank you Makarova for inspire me...

  • Her arms are her BEST thing in this vid! They are absolutly beautiful - graceful, elegant and she totally dipict's the essence of a dying swan!!

I have been dancing ballet since i was three and am progressing into professional dance/ballet training next year so i certainly know alot about ballet. And i certainly understand about it and the effort and difficulty of performing like she has.

so please don't tell me that her arms are not beautiful because your comment is totally laughable!!!!!!!!

  • I think both of you people are arguing over something that can be resolved easily. The arms aren't suppose to be beautiful in this dance or elegant, but they are exactly what they suppose to be. Its not a piece from the Swan Lake, it has totally different concept. They meant to twist and come out of position and flop and shake in agony. Even the twist of the left hand at the very end is perfect, although not perfect from ballet form point of view.

  • This is incredible!!!!

  • oh...

  • I can't stop watching this!

  • HER ARMS ARE BEATIFUL!

  • how do you know she has very gentle arms and i bet you cant do that so who do you call a smart ass ? its you who is a smart ass who think they know about ballet .

  • @yuliya1995: So true, she really has amazingly gentle arms, and such a beautiful neck! The way she carries herself is just above and beyond. Even her simplest gestures are extremely elegant. For me, she's really a complete artist. I am rather surprised that 3 people have clicked the "don't like" button. What's not to like?

  • @arakhachatran Well i know you wrote this 3 years ago, But you obviously know nothing about ballet yourself. She is performing the 'dying swan' variation, she is a swan! Idiot, her arms are so beautiful and how is she the one selected to do the piece if she has bad arms? Sorry to say but this one is not about arm placement.

  • @BubbleChikk14 She certainly does have amazing arms.

  • @BubbleChikk14 I agree. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!

  • @BubbleChikk14

Beuatiful is and understatment...they're absoulutely extraordinary!!!
