  • ...please don't compare the US with kenya. US laws works to an extent, but kenya laws are neglected and don't work. Start from the basic, don't spend alot of money on wall barrriers while pot holes are all over and Corruption. Michuki had started on a good tone. A zero tolorance with ttaffic laws violation is the best start.

  • Kenya the only place for reject vehicles. That's SAD!!!

  • DUAL CARRIAGE WAY is the answer.

Separate oncoming vehicles with a wall barrier.

Most of these accidents are head-on collisions. It is not rocket science to figure out the main cause.

  • @fromnelson, another reason is the harsh laws if caught driving drunk. So unlike in Kenya where one can drive from bar to bar or even when very high on weed or other drugs, few take the risk in the US. This in turn results to few 'mad' drivers behind the wheels.

  • If you commuters simply STOPPED the driver and call cops, this could not have happened. Now you are blaming him. You are irresponsible just like the driver. Kenyans are putting blames on others.

  • @engineer14.....you can't blame the drivers. Should we also be responsible that KQ repairs it's planes acccording to the law, Should we also be responsible that the meat sold at Uchumi is from a cow and not a donkey. Cars sold in Kenya cannot pass US satey standards. Should we also ensure that that is done by matatus. Should we also ensure that the doctor i go to visit has a license. That is the job of the govt. they have the power and resources to do that.

  • Could that Toyota be part of the 'recalled' vehicles? What is Toyota doing for its customers in Kenya who bought the defective vehicles?

  • @fromnelson.....another reason is that in the US law suits work. If/when people die all the owners of the business are wiped clean even their future earning can be garnished under the civil law suit. If they do that in Kenya there will be a big change. Also in Us insurance companies can revoke your coverage when people die like that and that information is shared by all insurance companies so you wont have anywhere to go.

  • @fromnelson....USA once had this problem and they found out that seperating opposite lanes with concrete on city hiways reduced accidents by 60-70%. If you drive outside the city the opposing roads are also not close toghther. That is why waiyaki way in Nairobi has fewer accidents. The opposing roads are seperated by concrete

  • all about discipline on the roads.simple!

  • the car swing cox u were over speeding.

  • maybe it is Kenya's population control solution since contraceptives seem to have taken a back seat.

  • I don't understand how 100 passengers will sit and let one driver lead them like sheep to the slaughterhouse as he drives recklessly.....100 people >> 1 person....tell him to slow down or beat his ass and take over the wheel! One life to live....

  • @drsugarcane: Herd Mentality...works very well with crowds! I did that once on 44 and the other passengers just stared at me blankly! I got off and walked the rest of the journey...alone!

  • oh! speeding on narrow roads! All the accidents could've been avoided if the drivers were human beings...these r speed maniacs on suicide missions!

  • kenyan are being massacred in the roads..

the police should man the roads 100%..

and there is a big jinx about voi...many accidents there...
