In any case, we had a great Spring Weekend in 1983 and 1984 at SUNY New Paltz, but I was almost ready to get a ride from someone heading up to SUNY Albany where 38 Special was playing!

@dpm0066 sometimes bands have a lot of member changes and sometimes the members will play in more than one band.. I haven't been keeping up with 38 special or GFRR so I don't know what he is talking about either. I think 38 special would have a lot more selling power than GFRR so I would want to keep that band going. I hear about 38 special concerts all the time but no GFRR concerts.

I'm not sure if its fair to call him *the* lead singer/songwriter of .38 Special ... all their great music was sung by Don Barnes, and I'm not completely sure about all that great songwriting - my impression is that it was collaborative, but I could be wrong. Max Carl certainly didn't write any of their great songs (IMHO). His voice was OK, but Don Barnes is EPIC. Still, I suppose sister dating Max still registers on the "cool" scale :)

@ehenningsen ... you must be talking about Max Carl ... I'm not sure if its fair to call him *the* lead singer/songwriter of .38 Special ... all their great music was sung by Don Barnes, and I'm not completely sure about all that great songwriting - my impression is that it was collaborative, but I could be wrong. Max Carl certainly didn't write any of their great songs (IMHO). His voice was OK, but Don Barnes is EPIC. Still, I suppose sister dating Max still registers on the "cool" scale :)

@ehenningsen Sorry but you are mistaken. Donnie Van Zandt is lead vocals along with Don Barnes. Now the other I had to look up and that was that Mark Farner is lead for Grand Funk.

This is the first rock song I ever shed a tear to...and i was twelve, my best friend and first love had just moved away and i guess i was just crying over what we all had together. Now i find myself here again eleven years later, but now i've grown enough to realize i shouldn't feel this way about her...but this song always seems to express the way I feel.
