Hey GT5 fanboys. Look at the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 skin and tell me that the GT5 graphics are /not/ horrible. The only reason the game might look better is because of superior shading and shadowing.

too bad fm3 (your "definitive racing game") doesnt have 16 cars@60fps@1080p, too bad it doesnt have real pit stops, too bad it doesnt have real day and night cycles, too bad it doesn't have weather....that's why PD sacrified skidmarks and full 3d trees, to free some ram and cpu usage. GT5 also has 8 to 20 megapixel photomode, direct upload to youtubeHD, 3d, headtracking, collaboration with Redbull Racing for physics, real-time damage (no, not what you saw last year dumbass) etc...

Honestly, GT5 looks more authentic with it's car models and detail. But Forza 3 just looks much more visually appealing. The environments and track detail on Forza 3 are second to none. I like GT5's interior view better though.

damn, i'm thinking of getting a ps3 or a xbox360 mainly for either of these games. physics wise i haven't tried GT5 but i think it's much the same as GT4? (which i've played before). forza 3 is quite alright compared to forza 2 which was pretty crappy. now all i need to know is the tracks which comes with these games. Forza has most of the Grand Prix tracks and it's variations. what about GT5?

We don't know too much information about which tracks GT5 will have. All we know is that it will have approximately 20 locations with 70 variations.

But I'm sure most of the tracks of past games will be in GT5

I have Forza 3 lce with microsoft wheel, gonna get gt5 with the logitech wheel, and I say both are good for different people.

The games offer diferent experiences which hold the interests of different audiences.

I don't think GT5 will be better than Forza, and Forza won't be better than gt5.

Graphics are much better in Gran Turismo 5. Tuning are about the same. Upgrades are about the same. But Forza has a paint editor. Forza 3 has 24 locations, and over 100 tracks. Gran Turismo has about 20 locations with 70 tracks. Forza 3 has approximately over 300 cars. Gran Turismo has about 950. Gran Turismo has 16 cars max per race, versus Forza's 8 cars per race. Both have online. There is a rumor that gran turismo has a track editor.

GT5 has Nascar and WRC cars too.

Whatever cars Forza has, most likely will be in Gran Turismo (plus more), like the Tesla Roadster, the Toyota Concept, and Citroen GT.

But it's more in preference on which is better.

People like the customizations of Forza, while Gran Turismo are for the people who like content.

And GT5 is coming out in March 2010 for Japan.

European and American release dates are probably around the same time.

Take rFactor for example, which does not have the graphics and details Gran Turismo has, yet it still is considered superior in terms of a driving simulator.

g) oh yeah, long rant. The Storefront is fundamentally flawed. Ratings can be dealt out by anyone and everyone. I've had Top Rated top-5 material since the first few days of FM3, being a dedicated, perfect-is-not-enough replica painter. Some *** comes along and decides he wants his friend's material ranked higher than mine, he slips me a couple of low ratings. Most of these low raters never bought the items they're rating, mind you.

h) I can't stress enough how annoying AWD swaps are...

well, /rant. I don't want to start on how broken the rest of the game is. Custom quick offline races - gone, you have to be online to start one; AI's using your paintjobs - never happened, despite being told it was in the works; refreshing new tracks - also absent, we're stuck with the same ones as before and the oh-so-empty La Sarthe and Kaido and the terribly overdesigned Positano.

It's a pure eyecandy upgrade from FM2. Everything else went backwards. Honestly, GT5 can't come soon enough.

...so, e) Road Racing , i.e. Fujimi, Nordschleife and Positano Full, is classless. See the total demise of racing there in anything else than a PI-970+ R1 race car. Peugeot 908's, with their ridiculously small window, are usually driven by people who are just as ridiculous, blaming their gi-normous blind spot for racing dirty *every time*.

f) It's pretty hard to kick dirty racers and rammers if others aren't actively communicating - Mic usage is pretty abysmal.

GranTurismo spent 60million + on their game and they announced that all 1000 cars are customizable. You could also Make and design your own race track. I've played both forza 2 and forza 3. Besides the cockpit view, i dont see a difference. Well, i do have to agree that the graphics suck cuz of the 360 cuz the game lags with graphics at this level. I doubt Forza spent much money on their game cuz it wasn't all that improved..

Forza 3 is a unfinished game which they rushed into. Graphics aren't that great and theres no change in the cars, its just copy paste from Forza 2. In other words, Forza 3 is money driven.

It got high rating for its physics buddy. They got great physics, but doesn't change the fact that it was rushed into. You also cant compare Such a game as GranTursimo 5 with Forza3. GranTurismo 5 started from scratch and thats why its taking so long. If you've played Forza 2, than you would know that Forza 3 doesn't differ by much. These are improvements, duh! and by mentioning what cars are gifted at level 20 and 30 but not inbetween, puts me even more in doubt if you have F3 at all!!

HA if i've played it... I'm in the top 200 of car designers, specializing in NASCAR replicas. I honestly think MP is a step back from FM2. I used to be able to find a room for whichever type of racing I desired, and if something didn't please me, I'd ask the host if he wanted to try a different setting.

a) you can't pick settings nor maps in public rooms. this makes you wait an eternity in intermission while the races are just as long as aforementioned intermission.

b) you can't join a friend in a public room, or you can keep trying to join for EVER while it randomly joins a hopper just like your friend's.

c) private rooms have forced the majority of good players to stay away from hoppers. this leaves hoppers filled with Audi S5's, rotary-swapped Lola's, and demo derby fanatics. It's impossible to find dedicated like-minded oval racers (I confess to being one.) to add to your FL so you can eventually private-room-race them.

d) so, FM3 gets the license for V8 Supercars (amazing racing potential there) and to three Nationwide-Series-style NASCAR stock cars. Equally, they get the license to Le Mans La Sarthe. And exactly the kind of racing EVERYONE wants to do there or with those cars, is exactly what you can't do in hoppers. Multiclass Le Mans Series races are impossible to set up without consenting coracers (who are all in Private rooms); NASCAR oval-racing is limited to a few laps on a few tracks...

...against people who wish to race ovals with leaderboard cars (R34Nür, FXX, Veyron, S7). OVALS ---> AMERICAN STOCK CARS. V8 Supercars is even more in shambles. It's virtually impossible to convince others to all choose a V8S to make a fair race, and if anything else is taken, the V8S's are immediately outclassed, being at the lower end of the R3 spectrum. Oh yeah, there's no V8S-specific tracks either. No Bathurst.

Now you see the downsides of server based gameplay, however it is something they can improve. But EVEN WITH it's flaws, IT STILL SCORED HIGHLY, just imagine what they would have scored if they took lets say......... FIVE years!!!!

Well, we can be glad they were faster, I don't think I could have waited that long. But they aren't going to reintroduce public custom lobbies (they've said that is out of the question multiple times officially), so the majority of those problems will remain.

The high scores was mainly eyecandy related. Really. Matchmaking might have seemed genius to reviewers at first, and it IS at first, give it a few hours and there goes the fun in it.

I've still got money ready for GT5 though.

Did you use GT5p or GT5 footage?

The editing is nice in the video but you should fix the aspect ratio...

Change it to 16:9 to remove the black boxes on the top and bottom of the player.

Both are great games in their own right but GT5 is for me. You can deffiently tell which game is which when watching videos and looking at screenshots. GT5 is photo realistic.
