Grecian Formula 16 seems to work best for me. The large bottle last for about two months if used three times a week. I'm happy with a touch of grey on the sides.
I think it looks good, but yeah, the box looks brownish tho, can't really go by that. I love loreal excellance creme for coloring my hair, used to use garnier all the time. And I saw the comment about stripping the color out, you can. Just get some bleach stuff and it'll strip it back to blond. Good luck on the job hunt too! xoxo Liana
There is a product out there that you can buy that will strip the pigment out of your hair and then you can re-apply the color of your choice. I'm a box blonde myself... who's made a lot of my own mistakes! You're still cute!

if your buying hair dye its never the colour on the box.if you buy a dark brown it will make your hair black. so if you want your hair dark brown you have to buy medium brown, its the same with all brands

I color my hair every three weeks because the gray comes in fast and furious. My advice is go to a hair salon ONCE. Tell them the color you are looking for and tell them that you want to be able to replicate it at home. You are a talker and will win the stylist over in 5 minutes. She will help you get the exact color you are looking for and you will be able to do it on your own. The hair color on those boxes leave a LOT to be desired! Good luck!!

Hey Zipster - I feel your pain - I use to be a pro at the box dyes.... Did you leave it in to long? Here's a little tip to tone it down the darkness, wash your hair with Dawn dish detergent, yeap it works or Pearl dandruff shampoo - it helps to strip down the color out of the hair... Good Luck!
The problem is, you need volume in order to create a contrast. That means, in order to get the effect of the blond on your hair you need to allow a contrast of colors. You can't contrast many colors when you don't have... That much hair to contrast. . . =]

Aww Zipster, I think it looks fine! It's about what my natural hair colour USED to be; now I'm pretty much that colour with whiter tones here and there. I think you should let it grow out naturally, and then decide what to do next, if anything. Just my lousy two cents worth of advice here, haaa :)

Ya know...I really kinda like it. It's not as bad as ya think. But, if you dont like it then you can try washing your hair several times with the old (regular) kind of Head and Shoulders shampoo. My sister was tryin to do the same thing as you and hers turned out a much darker BROWN (YES it does look brown to me 2) than urs so the 1-800 # told her to try that and it did help. Still was brown for awhile tho! Good luck! But, I still like it!

I do my hair all the time. I like the nice and easy line better. Wash your hair in some head and shoulders a few time, it helps take some of the darkness out (I have gone too dark before) and also give it a few days, its always to coppery or red or dark the first few days
Try a beauty supply comp next time, they have better dye and a person can help you find what you need, you might need two colors to get what you want. Or go to a salon! Its worth the 40 to 60 bucks sometimes
Now you know the prob women have had all their lives with hair color. You usually end up with "carrot top" red either light or dark! Or something with blue undertones! I just leave it to a professional and if they get it wrong---they FIX IT! It really is too dark 4 you-Zip! Sorry:(

OMG that's so funny cuz that happened to me! I bought that very same kind of hair coloring and it was called "burnt coffee" and the picture on the box looked brown. Well,.....now my hair is red! I've never seen burnt coffee that was red in coloring. Have you? I'm pissed! I LOOK STUPID!

I've given up with expecting dye to work on me and turn out the colour on the box. You must have rebellious hair like mine. I have a strip in the front that won't take perm lotion either. Yes I tried to look like Kelly McGillis in Top Gun, came out looking like a granny with a crash helmet perm, apart from the straight strip in the front. I like it. It makes you look younger. I'd vot for you to keep this look. It's great! If you want to lighten it just a little bit, give yourself a light lemon rinse. It will take it just a shade lighter and brighten it a bit, but you really don't need to. It looks good.
I am blonde, but darken my hair to brown in the fall and lighter in the summer. If you want some of the darkness to come out you can try one of the 5 things below (rinse and repeat!) They really do work!
1. Wash it with Prell shampoo
2. Wash it with a dandruff shampoo that has tar in it
Buy some Shimmer Lights (purple bottle).. it's a shampoo. It won't damage your hair but it should pull out more of the 'blonde' from the color you put in. Just don't wash your hair with it everyday or it will turn it purple! =)
Aw, I actually like it! It's not very dark, it's a very fair brown and looks like the colour on the box to me(the bit you showed on the back-cos the front pic is darker)! But it's what you think that matters since it's on your head!

OMG that's so funny cuz that happened to me! I bought that very same kind of hair coloring and it was called "burnt coffee" and the picture on the box looked brown. Well,.....now my hair is red! I've never seen burnt coffee that was red in coloring. Have you? I'm pissed! I LOOK STUPID!

Terry....Whatever the color is on the box...it will always turn out darker. There is a place on the net that you can go to, to try on different color of hair on yourself. I will look it up & send it to ya. PammieKay

here is something that could of happened though...because it is brown not blonde....some kid could of switched colors in the store as a prank...(it is known to happen)...check the tube to see if it is the same as the packaging

you know what i like it...and besides...the older you get you do want to tend to have a little darker hair.....im a natural blonde....and as im getting older the blonde is making me look older than i am....

I hate to say it but, it looks identical to the color of the girl on the box Zipster. It also doesn't look wrong, it looks pretty much natural for ya, so, why sweat it? It's just hair, it'll fall out, uh, I mean grow out, yeah, that's what I meant to say. :)

I like the color on you! Don't hate it. You should know that these hair colors ALWAYS come out darker than described on the box. Once I was going for light brown and my hair came out JET BLACK!

I've given up with expecting dye to work on me and turn out the colour on the box. You must have rebellious hair like mine. I have a strip in the front that won't take perm lotion either. Yes I tried to look like Kelly McGillis in Top Gun, came out looking like a granny with a crash helmet perm, apart from the straight strip in the front. The hairdresser said any more lotion would melt the hair, it just wouldn't take perm! Cheers, Lesley

I like it. It makes you look younger. I'd vot for you to keep this look. It's great! If you want to lighten it just a little bit, give yourself a light lemon rinse. It will take it just a shade lighter and brighten it a bit, but you really don't need to. It looks good.

I am blonde, but darken my hair to brown in the fall and lighter in the summer. If you want some of the darkness to come out you can try one of the 5 things below (rinse and repeat!) They really do work!
1. Wash it with Prell shampoo
2. Wash it with a dandruff shampoo that has tar in it
3. Wash it with shampoo mixed with baking soda
4. Wash it with Dawn dish detergent
5. Wash it with Tide (Liquid not powder)

Buy some Shimmer Lights (purple bottle).. it's a shampoo. It won't damage your hair but it should pull out more of the 'blonde' from the color you put in. Just don't wash your hair with it everyday or it will turn it purple! =)

Aw, I actually like it! It's not very dark, it's a very fair brown and looks like the colour on the box to me(the bit you showed on the back-cos the front pic is darker)! But it's what you think that matters since it's on your head!

Zip, you know I love you, but you pretty much got the color that showed on the box AND IT LOOKS GREAT! I LIKED IT BLONDE BLONDE, TOO!! (I'd probably like it GREEN!) You know when you bleach your hair you're always gonna get DARKER than they show on the box 'cuz your hair soaks the dye up!!
