ISU speed skating and short track speed skating regulations pg 107 says

If a Skater takes his starting position before the command "ready" or leaves his position or moves any part of his body after the command "ready" and before the shot is fired, it is a false start;

I've seen slow motion replays of this and there was definitely leaning and movement of Ohno's upper torso, which means its a false start.

the woman he hugged was the short track coach that year, its not a false start unless the skate blades go over the line before the gun, he was the best in that race obviously b/c he won gold & this is from an american network so obviously they favor the american. now everyone shut up

Why wasn't that a false start? His body and skates were moving forward at a slow rate before the starting shot. While waiting, all the other skaters were still and not accelerating like Ohno. It seems like an unfair advantage for Ohno.

No offense, but I think the Olympic judges and the trained and experienced commentors know more about what a false start is than you random people on youtube. Since no one even mentioned it, and the medal was clearly undisputed, obviously there wasn't even the question of a false start. Some people are just looking for reasons to put him down, which is quite sad. I think he's an amazing athlete and I'm very proud of all of his accomplishments. Good job Ohno! :)
