I moved to the U.S. from Poland in 1982 with my parents. My dad use to always play this record, and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it was lost with several others over the years, so I'm very happy to listen to it here. Brings back a lot of childhood memories.
So, you don't speak Polish? I figure you were about 4 years old when you moved and your parents must have been speaking Polish while talking to each other, so it's kind of strange. Well, Polish language is not that bad. It's cool, especially for its swear words - you can do whatever you want with them, and you can be very inventive. Of course, kurwa will suffice in many a context, but take the word 'pierdolić' and add prefixes to it and you change the meaning of the whole word!
@grisznik I speak and read Polish very well. I just have a hard time writing it. I'm actually going to Poland in Sept. for the first time in 20 years. I'm really excited. I hear it's changed a lot. Also, kurwa is the equivelant to fuck. And like fuck, it has multiple meanings depending on the context in which it's used. Polish people say kurwa about as often as Americans say fuck. I think it's hilarious!
If you haven't then it is GREAT that you 'speak and read Polish very well'. I also hope you know all the swear words and stuff ;). Dzień Świra is a movie by Marek Koterski, starring Marek Kondrat. It is about a high school teacher (he teaches Polish) who has hard time when it comes to dealing with the reality. The movie shows fragments of his life. It is a mixture of drama and comedy. Some people don't like this movie because of the swearing, but this is a big part of our life..
I love this movie and I laughed hard almost every time I watched it. The thing is, you laugh at what is happening, but later you realize you're more or less the same as the main protagonist, with similar problems and troubles. IMO, the after-movie reflection is a mixture of laughter and sadness. Anyway, I think it is a 'must watch' for anyone who understands Polish enough to get all the content of the movie.
Sorry you got 3 comments as a reply, but I wanted to tell you about the movie, and 500 characters just isn't enough ;)
goo[dot]gl/NgZvh - here's a 'concealed' link from Novamov movie-hosting site (stupid YT doesn't allow links). You'll probably have to let it buffer, their servers aren't that great. I hope you'll be interested enough to watch it thru the end. If there are any problems with the link, let me know. And let me know if you enjoyed it :)

Kto nie rozumie ludzi? A Franek Kimono (nie tu, tylko w Ja Jestem Menago) śpiewał 'szyliśmy z czapy na pianie i na basie'.
