@stormshockin actually, the law clearly states that pedestrians always have the right of way, period. regardless if there is a crosswalk or not, if you are behind the wheel and you see a pedestrian in front of you, you are supposed to stop. jaywalking is illegal for this exact reason, but nonetheless, drivers must always stop for pedestrians.

In the US, pedestrians expect drivers to stop or go around them so sometimes they get lazy or complacent and do not stop to look both ways. This is stupid.
Me, I always look both ways and run, not walk slowly like an idiot, when crossing the street to the other side. The street is for cars and not for walking. It's just physics, people. Cars go 30-60mph while people do 1-2mph. Duh!

If you walk out in front of a car and get run over whose fault is it? It's called self-awareness and responsibility. Its not the driver's fault if you J-walk, but J-walking means crossing through a red light, or very near one. Nothing illegal about crossing the street. Furthermore, even if it isn't the driver's fault, you always must stop. A hit n run is more serious and more consequential than accidentally killing sombebody with a car, so if you ever hit somebody, don't panic and get out to help.
Ok, i got hit by a car yestardy but it was like 10mph, i was already infront of the truck when he just hit the gas peddle i went about 10ft out into a very busy road and i was knocked out and some 1 pulled me on to the sidewalk and yeah. his faulty and hoping to get some money out of that ignorant bastard.
If you were jaywalking you won't be getting any money, you could kill someone jaywalking accidently if you were not breaking any laws and you would still be at no fault, but you are supposed to stop anyway.

It sucks that he got hit, but I'm glad people are putting alot of the blame on the pedestrian. To be honest, if you cross the street without looking, you get what you deserve if you get hit by a car.
Like everyone else said though, you can't leave the scene of an accident.

If you walk out in front of a car and get run over whose fault is it? It's called self-awareness and responsibility. Sure, the person should not have left the scene but it's downright ludicrous to even think about prosecuting the person who hit this guy. He did nothing wrong - other than leaving the scene of the accident, and for all he knew there was no camera proving that he did nothing wrong so, in all likelihood, he was facing time in jail for something that was absolutely not his fault.

When he dies do you want her to die? It looks good on paper and i would agree for cold-blooded killers but remember an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. My cousin nearly being accused of hitting on a passer by( a child), lucky for him that the accident was'nt acctually his entire fault, for practically the child himself "hitting" my cousin's car, thanks to the police, the found evidence that the child was running and slammed on the passenger window n thrown away like 2/3 meters away, my cousin then stops n take the child to the hospital n taken to the police station for investigation....

Its not the driver's fault if you J-walk, but J-walking means crossing through a red light, or very near one. Nothing illegal about crossing the street. Furthermore, even if it isn't the driver's fault, you always must stop. A hit n run is more serious and more consequential than accidentally killing sombebody with a car, so if you ever hit somebody, don't panic and get out to help.

Ok, i got hit by a car yestardy but it was like 10mph, i was already infront of the truck when he just hit the gas peddle i went about 10ft out into a very busy road and i was knocked out and some 1 pulled me on to the sidewalk and yeah. his faulty and hoping to get some money out of that ignorant bastard.

I just drove home tonight, rainy, dark, oncoming headlights, badly lit sidestreets, water streaming down the side windows, and it was almost impossible to see all the pedestrians in dark clothes, some of whom have a penchant for crossing the street mid-block. Responsibility cuts both ways on the street. To paraphrase something I once saw:
