@chrisinsocalif Iinderstand what your saying about the hood but I know several old school firefighters who to this day don't where them they say how else can you tell between the levels of heat? It's not completely unrealistic since people still do it. But yes I get your point.
This is the studio where the film of the warehouse scene from backdraft was filmed. thats why the video is called backdrsft, of course its not a real backdraft..
As a firefighter, yes the movie has some "hollywood" moments but you have to understand they cant film in realistic fire conditions where visibility is very limited. As for the turnouts, you don't see the 3/4 boots anymore and now fire dept's require an SCBA before entering the fire due to the increased health risks of inhaling toxic gasses. Also not wearing a hood would burn the heck out of your ears when steam comes back at you when applying water on a large flame. Good movie, short on realism
Have you been in a structure fire? You know when water hits a flame it expands into steam and when that steam rushes back at you...its not a pleasant feeling. One time I didnt have my hood on and my ears got burnt from the steam. In this scene you see steam rush over the firefighters. Let me tell you, it is not a good feeling and like i was saying, not wearing a hood would burn your ears and sometimes your neck or other skin exposed. Regardless what the NFPA required, I am still right.
yes i have been in a structure fire and yes i know you get burned without a hood its happened to me before i was just making a point you fucking hardass cunt!
backdraft is a good film for action and story but i will say this and other guys in the fire dept will tell u it is far from true to the job first off in a fire you wont see that well its all dark from smoke secondly you wear full bunker gear and BA's in the movie they had thier coats open no masks no SCBA's it might as well be an insult to firefighters..although it is a good movie:)just not when it comes to realism
Pretty cool special effects...but...that is nothing like a real fire. But even so, I wouldn't mind going on the ride, see just how close Hollywood got it.
M1 Abrams- Do you know what being in a fire is like? I do it for a living so before you go talking out of your butt- think of the people that risk their lives for you every day just to get payed
Fireguy517 is Right! Dumb jerks like the fool who posted firemen are retarded who never ran into burning bldgs should walk a mile in a fireman's shoes...thankless jerks! How dare you post such insulting & ignorant comments! My dad ran into burning bldgs for 30+ years. He never millions...but he saved people's lives every day of his. Show some respect for people who have a LOT more courage & contribution to society than advertising their ignorance online.
Ahh, is Backdraft the one with the little smoke puff crawling out under the door, then it gets sucked back in and seconds later the door blasts open with fire? :D

yes its maybe an Oil burn with wax or anything like this this is nothing in the video

That was not a back draft. A back draft is a flue gas explosion and a stitch nict flame artificially produced by gas ...

Uncle in the Fire Brigade. Called the film retarded. In a real fire you'd never see all that with the smoke and everything.
Still a bitching flame though, and he did show me how to make my own, REAL backdraft
