It's extraordinary how Bjorn looks in the test exactly like he does in the film. Usually you don't believe the actor is the same person in test and in the film so much work is done on the person but that's not his case. He was totally ready to be Tadzio, Visconti just needed to put a camera on his stunning beauty. It's an extraordinary moment in the movie history.

@StolarovVA: It is casting. I've been on several & if the director ask that of you, you do it. (W/in reason of course. lol! I think I was asked once to disrobe, but not completely. Thank God!) When director or casting agent is looking for something in particular (s)he instinctively knows what (s)he wants. If the boys weren't really wanted, then Visconti isn't going to ask them to disrobe.  He knew from the start that he wanted Bjorn, since he was photogenic from head to toe.
