The British usually think Americans speak with a Texan Twang. Coincidentally, Selena is from Texas and she doesn't have a very noticeable Texan accent.

It's most likely that she dropped the accent to improve her chances at becoming a National (and eventually, an International) celeb. Cuz when you have an accent, they always stereotype you.

No one I knew spoke that way! Haha If you go all the way to southern Texas, you'll get to where most of the Hispanics live(Right by the border of Mexico). They have Hispanic accents.
