  • hahaha the WORST is when you still see it slow down and you KNOW you will get it...then it just floats on into net.....ugh

  • I like very much. Obviously "BooBooMbad" has never been in a net, has never tried to play goal, and has never had to face a puck travelling at enormous speeds. I am a long time player turned Goalie Coach and think that this is an excellent "Quiet Eye" training tool. I may be late in viewing this, but it holds true to-day. If your concentration is on the puck, then you do see what is coming even before the puck gets to you. Thank you.

  • @noangeldustneeded i dont think you have even stopped a slap shot from an NHL player either, and i dont think you have played goalie before either cus if you have top of the line gear on like NHL goalies do you don't feel a thing

  • @noangeldustneeded i am guessing you didn't have top of the line stuff that NHL goalies do and i know thats not what it felt like cus getting hit by a truck would have hurt alot more then that and done alot more damage, and no ive never been hit by a truck, it's called common sense

  • @noangeldustneeded actually i am 22 and i play against some pretty hard shooters and what experince do you have? how do i know if you are full shit or not? people make stuff up all the time on you tube to look kool and get attention

  • @RickySouthwell what experience? ^^^^ whatever mr. 22 year old, i'm sure you're tearing it up in beer leagues. hop on the ice with some NHL'ers and take a full-on slapper to the chest and see if if doesn't hurt at all even with top of the line gear. little hint, it will.

  • @noangeldustneeded ya i do play in the beer leagues but i dont care, i just wanna play and ya what experince? for all i know you could be full of shit, lots of people make shit up on you tube to seem kool and to get attention

  • @RickySouthwell whatever dude, it's all good. i don't care if you believe me or not because there's plenty of research-able stuff. look up lemieux academy if you want. i did that camp twice with boris dorzhenko and mike mole in park city, utah. cant make that shit up.

  • @noangeldustneeded it would be easy to, you could of just done it hahahaha

  • @RickySouthwell i've have a couple pro level chest protectors and taken some shots from former minor players as well as some pretty good junior guys and some of them still leave a bruise, and then there's the one that bruised my hand through my pro palm glove... and that was a heluva wrister... not even a slap shot (mind you i caught it incorrectly being an amateur)

  • when i make a glove save sometimes i dont fully follow it to my glove and i dont even think about it, but i realize its so natural now sometimes i dont even know it!

  • @kylosme your actually right! i am only 13 but i have a coach that played junior hockey and was taking slapshots as hard as he could from the top of the circles and it seemed as if the puck would be in slow motion.. for me their is not a better feeling than when you make an amazing save and the crowd goes crazy

  • any goalies want to add me as a friend? we can make a hockey virtual world where you actually have like goalie pads and stuff like that

  • Tracking the puck is the most important skill a goaltender can have. There is also another equally important skill that you must have aswell, the stick to puck relationship!

I have a test for every goalie, before watching the whole video, go to 57 seconds in, this is the first shot we see from the goalies viewpoint, quickly before the puck is even released off the blade can you tell where it's heading? I made my prediction and was shockingly dead on hahah!

  • Fredrik Norrena is brought to you by Gold in the Net

  • Its kinda strange with me, I kinda eye down the puck the whole time, like i let my body "go. Like i just lift control over it and it feels like i'm doing absolutely nothing, but im saving pucks.

  • kinda cool to see the puck make a mark on Norena's blocker at 0:42

  • wow i never knew i reacted so fast to a shot. man, goaltending the hardest position in hockey.

  • Wow I can't belive I have to react that fast!

  • I have the same pads as him...

  • so do i :P

  • Fredrick Norena from the free agents

  • 3inch disc of volcanized rubber...di da duuuuuuuuuuuuh!

  • thats weird i played goalie and i know exactly what hes talking about. its a feeling you get b4 u make a save like the puck slows down but what really happens is your so focused on it.

  • if he really had a feeling of where the puck was going he'd make some saves, instead of letting everything in. they couldn't have picked a worse goalie to do this segment than him

  • he's ruling heavily in russia. we can pick him up anytime we want now that leclaire is in ottowa. don't fuck with rena. he's pretty much numero 2 now in the rotation. if i had my pick between dublewicz and norrena? norrena every time.

  • unluckily i only got that feeling in a match not so often on practice :(

  • @kylosme yea i get the same thing..sometimes it feels like your just waiting for the puck to get to you. whether time slows down, the shot is just slow or what you said your just focused on it so hard idk

  • @kylosme yes! i try to tell my friends that but they call me crazy!

  • @kylosme I'm the same.. When the player took a shoot in near first person view, I felt my right arm getting ready to catch and my legs going down.. Only, I'm sitting at a desk lol. It's been a good four years since I put on the pads, good to know I still got it the feel for it! --At about 1:04

  • @kylosme time is relative ^.^ i've noticed that feeling too, when you are in "the zone" so focused that the puck slows down for you on its way.

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TALK TO ME

someone smart please help me 0w

  • "This guy is a joke". I suppose you are much better. Ofcourse Jackets have allways made the play-offs before Norrena?! The big joke here is you! -95, no wonder.

  • look, it's a screen name. get real dude, no way in hell i'd have 95 on my jersey.

  • thats pretty interesting as a goalie myself i focus a lot on the blade of the shooter mostly...... i think, but it works

  • easy to pick on him

  • Moron. He's not the greatest NHL goalie but the reason he came over to the NHL was because he was one of, if not THE BEST goalies in Europe.

  • if he was so great, he should've stayed there. just because you're good in europe doesn't mean you'll be good in the NHL.

but as i was saying, norrena sucks. they should've called up lacosta earlier in the season.

  • You need to get a fucking clue.

Not playing in the NHL as a starter ≠ A bad goalie.

Go check out how he did in the Finnish league. Making the transition to the NHL is incredibly difficult, especially from Europe, when you're well over 30 years old it's even harder to adjust being so used to the game.

Also, because he proved he's only an average goalie teams would rather go for a younger back-up who can develop over an aging veteran like Norrena.

You're logic is so fucking retarded!

  • Tim Thomas grew up playing in North America before becoming a journeyman.

  • doesn't matter. still goes to show playing european hockey has nothing to do with it.

arguing aside, ANYONE from columbus will tell you norrena is/was god awful. king of the finnish leagues or not, he simply could not do a thing in the NHL. his overtime loss to the islanders this year was the most pathetic display of columbus goaltending since marc denis.

but thanks to that horrible game, they called up steve mason. so it could've been worse.

  • well actually norrena did amazing one half of a season then he started to fall but he's a solid backup but the jackets have amazing goalies mason possible candidate for the hart trophy

leclaire when not injury plagued it amazing

lacosta great young goalie coming up
