I just worked on a project for months with a woman who clearly had severe HPD. She was a nightmare and made everyone else's life hell. I wouldn't take it; I gave her the cold shoulder. That's the best way to combat these histrionic degenerates._
@jkenney2 my mother has severe HPD. completely nuts. There was no way of communicating with her and not getting manipulated in a way that you become a viewer not only of her life but also of your own after a while. I realized she wouldnt change so I had to cut off the relationship with her. I swear these people suck off the last bit of your joy for life and make YOU have a bad conscience afterwards. crazy shit.
Wow. I love it (The film not the disorder!) lol. The actors are really good and i like how you have put together the behaviours and shown them in a real life situation :D
@Bobbel222 I meet histrionics and they are not like this actor. The situation is a little exagerated, like the part with the cake or the "look at me". But they still love attention.
@unclesamfatg really? I found this acting an underestimation. With regard to the histrionics I know they are a lot more sophisticated and radical. I guess there are different manifestations of that disorder.
@Bobbel222 you must either have a mild form or its the bl narcisism speaking out of you - you know the Im in control of everything and stuff-thing. the bl I knew kept on switching from a lovely warm person to an acid cynical and narcisstic bitch. actually I am confused wether I like or hate her lol. anyway I feel huge respect for her because she kept on analyzing herself to keep herself in control. it must be a merciless struggle to do that the whole fucking life long.
Well, I constantly analyze myself, my behavior, and so on. And yeah, it is with no doubt a milf form that I suffer from, the schizoid part is definitely the dominating one.
@Bobbel222 if you dont like to be lonely all the time, but live a secluded life youre not schizoid but schizotypical. its a difference. Ive been schizotypical once because I was depressive but actually Im a very social person, not at all schizoid.
That´s not right at all...schizotypal is a separate disorder which is defined through an unordinary kind of sensing things, odd behaviour and in some cases even hallucinations. Schizoid is not a label without a degree...the stronger the schizoid part is, the stronger is the need for seclusion, but as I said before, there are several degrees.
@Bobbel222 that are some of the reasons of schizotypal behaviour. schizotypal pd leads to seclusion. for example if s.o. has borderline and isolates himself from society not to get emotionally affected anymore its schizotypal. schizoid personality disorder describes the utter dislike of social interactions not the inability. unlike schizotypal people schizoid people dont even miss social interaction.
Yeah I know that schizotypal individuals are suffering from loneliness, but so might some schizoid people. Schizoid people are some kind of "blocked" on social levels, at least some of them, others do, as you said, avoid social contacts for they don´t consider them as necessary. Schizotypals are more "psychotic" than schizoids.
omg! I have a friend who has this, I'm sure she does. Actually I couldn't handle her and stopped contact, she drove me nuts. EXACT same fake laugh! WOW.
* P - provocative (or seductive) behavior * R - relationships, considered more intimate than they are * A - attention, must be at center of * I - influenced easily * S - speech (style) - wants to impress, lacks detail * E - emotional lability, shallowness * M - make-up - physical appearance used to draw attention to self * E - exaggerated emotions - theatrical
There is still a good deal of controversy in the psychiatric community about whether this disorder—or any personality disorder—is a "disorder" at all. There's nothing organically wrong, and there is no cure. Talk therapy can help, but... "How many shrinks does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but the light bulb has to WANT to change."
In the past, we had simpler names for people with personality disorders. All of those names are impolite.
@racookster Well yes, but if the 'impoliteness' is caused by a fundamentally problem with how you think about the world, then it's a disorder. Histrionics are impolite, but it's because they're stuck in a mental state where they need attention. If it was just a case of realising what they were doing is making them difficult to be with, then there would be a miracle cure. But it actually takes time to get yourself out of attention-seeking behaviour.
I had a girlfriend I suspect had this disorder. This isn't a bad video. Spot-on in volume, laughter, being all over the kid. To make it better: lower-cut blouse, push-up bra, lots of jewelry, overdone makeup, playing up to the camera, more sex-me moves, some type of tear-filled DRAMA at the end to pull attention away from bday girl, and no way she baked the cake. Maybe she'd claim it took 3 hours and hide the box from the bakery.
i find these people to be liars because they ALWAYS try to relate to you so that they can take the focus and they'll out do you with their lies. I usually find these people young at heart too.
@gamiezion don't use your hindsight bias on me or cage me with a personal attack. If you knew, you wouldn't have responded. You would have known before.
It seems like she's "trying too hard" and her behaviors seem to make others uncomfortable, if I were there I might try to outdo her or purposely interrupt her, but I'd try to turn some entertainment value out of her.
no they are generous and nice but not because its morally right but because they know that people will be pleased with them and show them more attention
She does not really seem to be having a pervasive pattern of attention seeking. She is more like a chav... A histronic wouldn't really brag about having baked a cake either.
well, here's my take ·I Histrionic so I gotta throw my own thoughts and words into everything else too).......
This is 'staged'... at least as you notice they have other depictions on other disorders...
HOWEVER... a trait of HPD is to be very "theatrical" thus..... HPDs are actors...
IMO they nailed the head on this one. it easy for actors to behave this way cause its easy for HPDs to be actors... Heck, is she really HOD or not in real? Hmmm. Could be, I hope not for her sake but could be...

Is this really a personality disorder?
Man, this is unbearable!
I´m a borderliner suppressing his emotional impulses and thus developing schizoid symptoms.
But...this is...gross. Disgusting, maybe it is just me, but that kind of overdriven acting...repulses me. It really does.
