I would give anything to get the Tangerine Dream soundtrack, but they never released it, I've even connected with a guy in Germany, and he can't get it either, it really makes the movie.............

I don't know of any release of the soundtrack, official or bootleg. But there's loads of live albums/bootlegs from around then where they did play some very similar compositions in their live stuff (e.g. the last quarter of Horizon from the "Poland" live album)

I find it a little odd that Mr. Wahl only kills like maybe two guys in this whole movie. (One of the KGB agents in the beginning and the Skiing agent towards the middle).

An M20B1 Bazooka, a bunch of MAC Submachineguns, an M72 LAWS rocket, a Colt Diamondback, a sword wielding assassin, a black Eurocopter, a porsch, George Strait, a bar fight, F14 Tomcats, lots of squibs, and a bunch of kickass CIA and Mossad agents. What's not to like. USA USA USA USA.

Compare the ski sequence in THE SOLDIER to the one in James Bond's FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. You'll see that this is the superior one. THE SOLDIER has the best skiing stunts since ON HER MAJESTIES SECRET SERVICE.

IMO its better to avoid involving real life politics esp. when it can get confusing. It gets in the way of good movies. For some reason this reminds me of the Terminator trailers, with the whole synth drum thing :D

Well, this is the US being on the receiving end of film based criticism. Plenty of US made films portray non-US (even UK, French, German, as long as they are not US) as the bad guys, or at least diminish the non-US involvement in the heroics. E.g. U571 which in real life was actually performed by UK, but made to look like it was US---the actual US submarine *sank*.

I don't see anything wrong with the US characters being portrayed in unflattering or negative lights.

it IS on DVD - at least the German version. I just uploaded the full film (a cut version, that is, FSK 16, or "youth protection version) dubbed in German language, on my Youtube channel.

this was a great movie.

the plot was about how a US soldier becomes a traitor and takes over an ICBM US missile base and threatens nuclear war unless Israel is saved.

And this is shown as somehow good and patriotic... placing Israel above the US.

Wrong. The 'Soldier' is the codename for Ken Wahl's character. The president ordered CIA agents to stop the Russians any way they can.

So they take over a missile base and threaten to bomb Moscow if the Russians detonate the bomb in the oil fields.
