  • one of the most prominent baritones, after the great Dietrich

  • A gorgeous voice. This is a revelation. Thanks for this and the captions, too. Mahler's interweaving of voice and instruments is so beautiful!

  • to me the moving around is not only natural but he is bringing the anguish and despair mahler was feeling at the time, remember a lot about you comes out through body language rather than what you say and how you do so

  • I'm getting dizzy watching him. I wish he would stand still and put his arms down. So distracting. He sounds good enough to be able to just stand and sing. No need for the extra moving. Just my opinion.

  • @rayclentchris I agree, completely. There is no need for all that.

  • @rayclentchris Every musician has their own nuances. I see what you mean, but at least for me, I just try to not let such little things as him moving around distract me from the music that is being made. This is coming from a clarinet player, and instrument that somehow has some of the most obnoxious playing movements associated with it.

True...god forbid he emote when he could just stand there and be a throat with feet. Who cares about his personal interpretation of the cycle?
