got that brian ferry sounding voice... andy mackay and phil manzanera from roxy music helped him with the album this is from, called neuromantic so theres where the similarity comes in.Drip dry eyes is a great song off that album also.
Ah, but Steve Jansen was the best copied version! They played together on numerous albums and tours, and if you concede, Steve is much better looking, has a better physique and even a better voice than Yukisan!
I've never heard of Yukihiro Takahashi before but I know of Phil Manzanera, Tony Mansfield, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. How could I have not heard this or of Mr. Takahashi back in the 80's? This is great! I listened to the other stuff posted here and it's just as good
I wish to correct myself; This was on Time and Place, but was also on the album "what me worry?", not New Romantic as I stated previously. my bad-memory.
I remember first hearing the live version album (Time and Place: this was from a concert at the Budokan- had Hajime Tachibana on guitar, David Palmer on Drums- very rockin' album! He also did a nice version of Burt Bacharach's The April Fools and on New Romantic, he did a great cover of the Beatles' All too Much.
He's got such a great sound, it still feels as fresh as when I first heard this song back in late 80s. :)

a couple of year back I got hold of compilations of both New Musik and Naked Eyes. Not as good as original albums, but actually pretty reasonable.
People liking this Takahashi track should check the live "It's Gonna Work Out" vid, it's aces!

and Naked Eyes... same sort of brilliant pop music. Class act.

Love this song, just heard this album about a week ago and I'm definitely a fan of Mr. Takahashi's work.
As my sister puts it, he's like if David Bowie and the singer from Dire Straits were Japanese. =)

Cover of "It's All Too Much" was on the brilliant "What Me Worry" LP.

We've all heard "firecracker" in the west, as it appears in various things. Or "Behind the Mask" (Eric Clapton/Michael Jackson)

Awesome. Big Takahashi fan here, but had never seen this. But to nitpick, the name of the album is "Neuromantic".
