@Echschmet, this was a clip from an early 20th century training film for mental health care workers. The real-life patients had the "masks" in a rather lame attempt to hide their identities and provide a measure of privacy.
Poor, poor people, it's disturbing what a human can do to another once he has control over one.Nothing new though, humans are just a cruel race, i'd rather live as a cow in a safari park, then to live under the control of another human.
whoever thinks that ECT and forced commitment doesn't still exist needs to get their left wing heads examined. Forcing people to take drugs that destroy them and turn them into zombies is absurd when their only option is "well you'll end up in the hospital then"... same shit...
Sad. Mentally ill people should have been treated with warmth and compassion... But instead they were treated like this. I worry for humanity on a daily basis; Can "normal" people REALLY say they are sane when they treat others like this?
It's to protect their identities, The footage was most likely a film illustrating the kinds of patients in an asylum and obviously the need for the cloths
Can anyone tell me how these patients were let out of these mental hospiatls? Are they there for life or what? Because with the way the patients are being treated, I dont imagine they would get "cured"
Even tho we've come a long way since then, there is still a lot of ignorance & stigma around the subject of mental illness. It can happen to anyone, no matter your background. Back then they still hadn't developed antidepressants & antipsychotics. The first antidepressants were MAOI's & were introduced in the 50s & in some cases are still used today. Severe clinical depression is classed as a mental illness but the afflicted aren't mad, just very ill. Many sufferers are very highly intelligent.
6666666666 just a fyi frome some one thats bin in them movies and ppl blow that stuff way out most r actualy verry soothing and like a escape from the evial in this worled now im not saying all r like that there r some that r fuckkeded
nope i dont think so because it will be better of for them living on the streets because in the mental hospital they tested on them and locked them in rooms
This is an amazing video! The music is brillent with it. I can't help but pray and love the people shown in the video. I suffer from Bi-Polar disorder, which there are meds for now... but in those days... well, I might have been with them. In a strange way... that might not have so bad after all.
I wrote and recorded the song on an old MIDI machine and a reel-to-reel recorder about fifteen years ago, as part of an album project. Cthulu is another song on the album. The album was never released publicly, so I just threw the master tape - a good quality cassette - in my desk drawer until I made the video last year. Glad you liked it.
Assuming you wouldn't mind, I downloaded your song from the footage and inserted it into my iTunes.. mind giving me the lyrics?
And, have you considered creating a MySpace account for your music so people could hear your stuff? People don't have to be signed to have band accounts on there..
Billions are getting a FDA Lobotomy every day when they eat Monsanto GMO food they are getting one and when they use Big pharmacy drugs they are getting one. When you dont even look at a food label you already have have a lobotomy! When a nation bends over and excepts Fluoride in drinking water they have a lobotomy! Willing to use bleach on teeth? Sleep in toxic beds.toxic clothing? Eat toxic food! Use a microwave! You must already have a LOBOTOMY! RESEARCH PEOPLE! WAKE UP! INFOWARS !
"there is no such thing as mental illness." So that guy who assaulted my friend in a park while she was reading a book under a tree by smashing her in the face with his skateboard because she was "an FBI plant" wasn't mentally ill? I'm sorry, but to make that kind of statement is either suprememly naive or idiotic.
Moving compilation of archival footage that speaks volumes about how society's social engineers (our psychiatric demagogues) have enslaved mankind without firing one single shot. Too bad Aldous Huxley never realized that he was off by 500 years when predicted the totalitarian state to come in "Brave New World Revisited." Excellent commentary on the state of our "free" nation David. Makes me dread what's yet to come.
i agree with you and if you ever ask a psychiatrist if they have ever 'cured' one of their patients, guaranteed the answer will be 'no' read and watch the truth on psychiatry at cchr*co*uk
oh i have a imaginary friend call lizzie im not menatl and im not taking the mick in class lizie will give me the wrong answer and i will have a go at hr and everybody thinks im crazy but im not its someone sometimes you can reloy on
I hear you. And it seems like ever since, most of my closest friends over the years have been people who have struggled with mental illness, or at least what modern society likes to think of as mental illness; it's like we have this secret society. Half the time I wonder if mental illness just that someone has seen reality a little too clearly, and of course that can't be tolerated...
So, have you ever heard of Roky Erickson? Watch "You're gonna miss me." If there was a better look into the mind of a schizophrenic, I don't know what it is.
So you have not released this tune anywhere? Nice tone to the topic.

Just underscores the wisdom of my old granny.
She told me way back in the 1960s: "Dontcha trust no doctor no mo' than ya do a preacher!"
(the implication is that preachers cannot be trusted)
