loadtimes:fixable by an installation and a problem in hundreds of other Xbox games
glitches:i hit very few on my playthroughspeed:sonic doesn't need to blast through everygame he's ever been in
Story: there is no implied romance between any of the characters(the ending was more of a cheesy story book kinda thing)controls: you guys act as though you've never played a game with some loose controls before
@tmgr100 Yes it is. The loading screens are still a problem, especially in the town missions, and what about the PS3 version? The fact that glitches can happen at any time, and that they kill you in fact, means the game was poorly programmed. The story is overdramatic trash and the only point of Sonic's story was his relationship with Elise. And the controls really are shit, especially compared to many other games.
Sorry, but the game is terrible, and deserves the hate.
@dtwiiguru6 Buy this. It doesn't have the same problems as Adventure. Although I didn't have those problems with Adventure, either. Actually, colors is so far the ony one to give me bad controls and camera. No glitches, but that's okay. Every day is a nightmare with colors.
controller has put you at risk of dying in all of the 3D Sonic games when going across bottomless pits, the slowdown is one of the few horrible things about the game, and this game's story is better then all of the fanfictions out there you mindless drone! I hate GameTrailers. They are worse then IGN, Screwattack, and GameSpot!
3:01! That's not an unclear path! It's way obvious that you aren't supposed to go in that direction! I wish I knew what his name was so I could give him a piece of my mind! Twitchy controls? What twitchy controls? The controls are not twitchy in this game. Camera is bad at times yes but it's better then in Shadow the Hedgehog. Loading times are only really bad in the town missions, Yeah well the Sonic games haven't had traditional storylines since Sonic Adventure you idiot! touching the
you know this game isnt as bad people say it is. ive seen worst. i like how this game incorperated more platforming and was trying to go back to its roots instead of just constant running like sonic unleashed.
Really don't understand Sonic Team. I bought this game back in the day, was lied to by a gamestop employee who said it got "excellent reviews" and that it was "the last copy" even though they had a whole box behind the counter.
I really tried to like it. I forced myself to play it, like I forced myself to play Aion. You may be able to look past the complete and utter lazy garbage in the game, but people who spend their own hard earned money who barely get by in this economy cannot.
Wow. The arrogance of the haters. Nobody has any right to run around and say that their opinion is the truth. This is a good game. Better then the likes of Colors. Anyone who doesn't agree can always just go play Colors and shut up.
Sonic colors is a retarded game about an anime blue hedgehog who runs very fast and saves the world with a puke-inducing lighthearted plot about a cutesy amusement park with aliens called wisps. That's not even including the aimless, bad music, pathetic Wii-standard graphics, and gameplay that is so miraculously bad that it manages to be both so boring it puts you to sleep AND so unfairly difficult that it makes you punch the screen.
@radicalcrash I apologize for that outburst. But seriously, Sonic 06 has good graphics, great music, and the addition of new characters such as Mephiles, Silver, Blaze, and Iblis is awesome. The reason I don't like 06 is because of the many glitches I experienced during my time with the game. I don't own Sonic Colors, but I've seen gameplay. It looks smooth enough.
P.S. How is Sonic different on Sonic 06? He seems the same on both games. Same personality as always.
@david52042 Being a Sonic 06 fan means that I have to be suspicious. I've experienced only two glitches that happen every single time I've played it. That would be Shadow's vehicles and Rouge/Knuckles getting stuck to the wall (easy to fix), so I don't have any glitch problems. I think the actual haters are just liars. This game plays better then the other 3D Sonics with nimble controls and controllable camera, with the music, graphics, and ESPECIALLY story.
@david52042 I respect opinion AS LONG AS PEOPLE RESPECT MINE. If they don't, in the words of Sonic: "Let's see what you can do!" The way Sonic is different is that in colors he acts like a fucking clown in a Sonic costume. Seriously, what kind of Sonic game actually tells JOKES? Sonic has never been lighthearted since Sonic CD. In Sonic 06, his personality is more likeable because he takes things seriously and emotionally. And his intense frown is just plain badass.
@radicalcrash Yeah, I never really did get the jokes. Somehow, I thought they were funny, but, in agreement with you, it does make Sonic look like an idiot.
Different people experienced different glitches in the game. And yes, people lie and make up glitches like "Sonic floating" and "Silver's telepathic powers not working", which is complete bullshit. I do respect your opinion in the sense that Sonic 06 is more serious than Colors.
@david52042 Well, since Sonic is a traditional Japanese franchise, everything in 06 is not only perfectly in place, but easy to explain. And even the Western audience should be able tobsee that Sonic has never been a lighthearted thing.
Let's see, the list of glitches that are made up. Falling through the floor, getting stuck to walls, plane flicker, and bosses that don't die. Colors is purely fanboy service. Because there are some hardcore retros who whine.
But seriously, man, why the hell would you tell people to "shut up" and go play Colors just because they don't like 06? I mean, 06 isn't EXACTLY the best Sonic game ever, but it's not the worst. People should be able to like and dislike whatever game they want without someone beating them down for it.
@david52042 That isn't exactly what I said. I can't just post online something like "06 is a good game", or I'll be swarmed. Even if some people respect my opinions, most don't. I do think that 06 is the best, and that colors is the worst, and since that is a radically different opinion, people will attack me over it, so I have to will attack first out of instinct. It's not right, but it's my gut reaction or pre-action. And noticr, no matter how I act, people still try beat me down.
@david52042 I'm angry, you see. Angry because the hatred of 06 means it's unlikely that they will make another one like it. And 06 is very personal to me. Actually, it's responsible for me still being alive. If something had kept you alive, even if it was a video game, and even if it was a controversial one, wouldn't you react angrily to anyone who attacked it and/or you over it?
@radicalcrash Sonic 06 isn't that bad of a game by any means, but I thought it was the worst 3D Sonic game of the decade (actually that might be Black Knight). But with that said, it was mostly playable. The game was enjoyable in some aspects like Silver's gameplay and Shadow, when he's not using vehicles. But the loading screens were atrocious and the characters moved too slow. I also hated the mac speed stages and Sonic's story. But it was an okay game. I wished they had actually finished it.
@K83b2 I appreciate it, but the worst 3D game is colors, and nobody will be able to convince me otherwise. The game is just so bad in every way. In the horrible 2.5D sections, the physics are so loose that double jumping (and why is there a double jump in the first place?) is more dangerous then any of the bland enemies, without even mentioning the terrible platform placement to begin with. The 3D sections are so empty, and the obstacles are even worse then the platforms, that it just sucks.
@K83b2 The music is completely aimless, as well, with even more soul-crushing repetition then the Unleashed day stages. Wii-standard graphics are fine because they're ... well, Wii-standard. The story is a disgrace to video gaming, and especially Sonic. It's bad enough they actually tried to put "humor" in a franchise that has always been dark and emotional with Unleashed, but in colors, they destroyed it. It's a drunk midget hobo in a clown costume, not Sonic anymore.
@K83b2 Silver is a lot of fun, yep. :) And Shadow's vehicles are one of the only two recurring bugs or glitches in the game I've encountered, and today I just completed the game for the 147th time. I've played on both consoles and hunted down all the Medals on each console at least once. The mach speed is fun, except Radical Train's. Sonic's story? Oh, you mean Elise, of course. In Sonic universe, furry is the norm since 1998 ('99 in the US), so it's not out of place. It doesn't even look odd.
@radicalcrash Nah, I respect your opinion. But I think Sonic Unleashed is the best one in the last decade. And about Colors' story, remember Sonic is also something kids play, but can also be something that even older audiences can enjoy. And so yeah the story is silly, but it isn't exactly too cutesy. I mean just take a look at Kirby's Epic Yarn (haven't played it, but it doesn't look too great), now THAT one takes it too far that it's almost not worth trying out...
@K83b2 Thanks, and Unleashed is my second favorite. Chip and Sonic's friendship is as emotionally effective as (I find) Sonic and Elise's romance. Colors' story is ... really disgusting, and not just by Sonic standards. Remember, too, that most kids play M-Rated games these days. Colors is too difficult for a 6-year-old, and according to SEGA, they're shooting for a more Unleashed-like style because colors didn't draw in many potential new fans. Nintendo makes its money off 4 repetitive series.
@radicalcrash And I thought music in Sonic Colors was excellent. Though Sonic has always excelled in music. I thought it was fun. There were definitely problems, such as it being too short and I did not like the quick step controls. Unleashed had that perfectly and I hated how in Colors, they replaced the QTEs with just pressing "A" over and over. And about Sonic Next Gen, i never really liked the mach speed zones and the worst one to me was the one in Kingdom Valley...
@K83b2 As I said to my most recent friend, I must admire you for enjoying it. The controls are awkward, but the virtual signs is really good. The QTEs would've been a good feature in 06 instead of the wall jumping, actually. Really? My first time through, Kingdom Valley is the one I had the least trouble with, and I thought it was too short, especially considering how long the Water section of the OST is, and how it was the coolest one conceptually. Although, Crisis City is really awesome.
@radicalcrash ...To me, it was not necessary at all to have a mach speed zone at the end of a 15 min level that was otherwise a fun level. I lose all my lives due to confusing and poor level design and have to play it all over again. The loading times were atrocious, though mainly in the town stages where they would constantly pop up to load the mission and even to load a message from sound town person...
@K83b2 The loading times are one of my two serious issues with the game. Yes, they are bad in the Town Stages, but at the end of the day, they are only 10 seconds. The Town Stages themselves are limited, and I miss the real time cycles, as well as all the unfinished animations from SEGA's QAD build that they pitched to Microsoft in the first place. Although Microsoft are somewhat responsible for the unfinished qualities of 06, it's also true that SEGA and Sonic Team fell off the band wagon also.
@radicalcrash ...That said, Sonic 06's ideas were fine. I really don't mind the ideas at all (aside from the cliched Sonic and Elise's relationship. Wish it didn't have to be so corny). They were good. But Sonic Unleashed gets the medal for best Sonic game of last decade, in my opinion.
@K83b2 I love the Sonic and Elise thing, and I'm not a hardcore furry or anything. It's just clear to me that manimals are the norm in Sonic's universe since 1998 (officially anyway, the existence of Eggman proves that Sonic's always been in the human world, albeit a less realistic one) and so furry relationships should be considered the norm, too. It wouldn't be reasonable to limit manimals to other manimals. That would be like saying a white woman can't marry a black man. I'll surrender the...
@K83b2 ...corny dialogue point, because when I look at Sonic 06 and compare it something such as Assassin's Creed, it's easier to identify with the AC dialogue. I'm not saying I want to see a Sonic game where you assassinate people, but it's harder to take a video game starring humans as seriously as a game starring anthros, because ordinary people don't have adventures. So if they just took the realistic-styled dialogue instead of anime-styled, but kept the drama and emotion, it'd all be good.
@radicalcrash That is true. Kids do play M-rated games like COD nowadays. And as for the Sonic and Elise relationship, I wasn't sure if it was the relationship itself that was negatively received, but rather it was the fact that Sonic was having one with a human being instead of maybe a female hedgehog (or an animal). However, it bugs me alot when people bitch about little things about Sonic, like the chosen storylines, characters (chip was fine to me). And you're right, some stories are not...
@K83b2 Kids don't like to play games that they don't think the "big boys" play. 6-year-olds know how to play video games, but colors is too complex in its design and too unfairly difficult for all the wrong reasons for them. It shouldn't matter if Elise is a human or not. Like I said, since Sonic Adventure, furry is the norm. You can't limit the manimals and humans in Sonic's universe strictly to other manimals and humans. It doesn't make any sense. Sonic's not a real hedgehog, so it's not...
@radicalcrash ...meant to be taken seriously. And actually, I bet a alot of 6 year-olds would know how to finish a game. But I guess I don't know for sure. And I don't think Microsoft was the one to blame for the unfinished released games. If that were the case, then why isn't the PS3 version superior? Then shouldn't Sony also be the one to blame? In fact, the PS3 version was said to play even worse than the 360 version...
@K83b2 beastiality. It's just like a normal 15-year-old falling in love with a normal 17-year-old. Except the 15-year-old's blue. *shrugs* And?
Microsoft are the ones who wanted Sonic's game by November, or they threatened to terminate SEGA's contract. Sony didn't, so no, they aren't to blame. The PS3 version is superior with quicker cut-scenes, smoother homing attacks, and less-buggy mechanics, but it was only developed for one extra month. Not a lot of time.
@radicalcrash Although Sega seemed to be taking too many risks, I admire them for trying different ideas out. I honestly didn't mind Shadow being edgier, or Sonic in a more realistic environment, though I think something like Unleashed was the perfect balance.
@K83b2 Risks? Do you mean with 06 or Unleashed? With Unleashed, they took a risk with the werehog, but that's actually my favorite part of the game. And I promise, I'm not doing it just to be as different as possible. :) I just think the Unleashed day stages are too crowded. However, crowded is better then the boring-cheap stages of colors. At least someone can memorize Unleashed.
Shadow's always been edgy-ish, true. Unleashed has better graphics, but the cartoony thing is so-so, I find...
@radicalcrash Not just risks with Unleashed, but risks in general, even if they were flawed. For instance I've been disappointed with Nintendo's philosophy in their games since the Wii. The only game that stood out really well was Super Mario Galaxy. But lately they've made their games towards either casual audiences or made it too kid friendly. I don't think I've thought once that Sonic was too kiddy for me. But anyhow, I admire Sega for taking risks...
@K83b2 Fair enough, for sure. Although I don't think that SEGA viewed it as a risk, because in ther mind, it makes perfect sense. The idea of combinig swordplay with Sonic's speed is a great one, but the actual game came out less-then-perfect. Shadow is a great candidate for guns, as his character is dark and emo to the max. But all the fan focus on is "Sawneek's not 'sposed to be likeee thaat". Find a real reason to complain, is what I'm saying, and egdy Sonic stories aren't that reason.
@radicalcrash ...I would not want Nintendo developing for Sonic. Even if the games would be built better, they'll end making Sonic too kid friendly and then taking away all the difficulty like they did with Kirby's Epic Yarn (only a presumption as I haven't played it.). And if I recall, the Sonic Team director even said they wanted to launch Sonic 06 for the holidays, so I doubt Microsoft would be the one to blame...
@K83b2 I don't see the appeal of Nintendo games. Much as O enjoyed Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2 both gave me a headache within the first 5 minutes of playing. You're right, Nintendo would ruin Sonic. Here's an idea for SEGA. Develop the kiddy games for Wii and the dark games for 360 and PS3. By no means am I saying that Sonic Team aren't to blame, but they aren't the only ones, and the flaws of the game just aren't that terrible. That's my point. I think you knew, though.
@radicalcrash Yeah the flaws in Sonic games don't necessarily make the games unplayable. But I think Sonic 06 could have been polished more. And I think that's why Sonic Colors was made for the Wii only. Sega even said the game was designated towards children, but also would be challenging enough that older audiences will enjoy it. And Colors succeeds with that (not my favorite since it was too short and fairly easy, but still really decent). And now Generations will be made for the HD consoles.
@K83b2 I don't think the Sonic games have even been all that flawed. Truth be told, Heroes and colors are the only ones I have trouble with. But Heroes only has bad controls and an overly-simple story. I find colors has a lot more problems. But I've never had trouble with the Sonic Adventures, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed (apart from the first time through the day stages), or the Sonic storybook games. They just aren't bad games. They're just not.
@radicalcrash I agree the newer Sonic games aren't that bad. You can't trust gaming critics anymore. Like the tool on IGN who reviewed Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360. He just flat out bashed the game without even going into detail and has no idea what he's talking about. Over exaggerates on everything single thing. Bottomline, Most Sonic games have always been fun despite its flaws, even the 3D ones.
@K83b2 Hilary Goldstein? Yeah, he sucks. He also died on purpose. He's the worst staff member on IGN. Besides Matt ... uh, I don't remember his last name, but he's a big Wii fan. Wii games could be so much better, it's a shame that the console's been almost totally wasted. Motion controls are a bad idea. And now we've got Kinect with NO controls? Fuck. The only real problem with Unleashed is the inconsistency of the day stages the first time you play them, but by the 2nd and 3rd time, it's fine.
@radicalcrash Hilary's review for Unleashed was ridiculous. The game gets flak, but the 360/PS3 version are fun. Once you get past the night stages...which just repetitive, they don't have tons of glitches or anything game breaking, the game is great. I'd give it somewhere in the 8-9 range. That being said though, Generations is a much better game than any Sonic game in a while.
Oh, and if you are talking about Matt Cassamassina, he's no longer there. One of the best reviewers on IGN though.
@ShadowPhazonv2 It was. Actually, if I'm honest, I don't like IGN at al. I wanted to strangle them when I saw their generations' previews. They called themselves Sonic fans. Yeah, sure. And I'm a unicorn princess from Mars.
I prefer the Werehog. The day stages are better then colors. They don't try to be fast and ful of platforming, which just doesn't work.
Yeah, him. He gave Black Knight and the Wii/PS2 Unleashed bad reviews. I can't say about SD Unleashed,
@radicalcrash They still gave Generations a great score, so I don't think previews should matter.
Ehh, all I have to say is that the levels were repetitive, and the full game should have just been those day stages. However, I don't have a burning hatred for the night levels though.
Uhh, that's his job, to critic reviews. Black Knight deserved the negative reviews. It was not a good game. Unleashed, he gave the Wii version of the game the highest score on the site. Don't be so picky.
Only if you make them repetitive. Using other combos made them not repetitive. All combat games are repetitive if you don't choose to use combo variety.
Yeah, it's his job. But he's way wrong about it. And he's supposed to be professional about it. Not even use words like, "crap". Black Knight was the last game they made before they sold out to the retro fanboys. The games should NOT try to be like the Genesis days. Those games are old for a reason.
@radicalcrash You don't like Generations? What do you want from a Sonic game then? It had classic 2D levels for older fans, and the 3D levels for modern fans. That game has like everything you could want. I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have stupid gimmicks, it isn't glitchy, it's just a very fun, well done game.
The enemies all felt the same, as did the moves.
They didn't sell out. Sonic games get more than enough sales regardless. They are doing something for fans who want GOOD games.
@ShadowPhazonv2 The 3D levels were just the same bland 2D sections turned forward. Not one of the Sonic gimmicks they ever tried were stupid. Not one, from the guns to the sword. They may not have used the fullest of their potential, but they were far from stupid. Glitchy is a bold statement. Some agree, but I've had almost no glitch troubles, myself. So are all fighters. They gave in to the retro fanboys. Fanboys, mind, who DON'T get to say what is and isn't good based only on their own ideals.
no they did not? the 2d sections are well prgorammed and the platforms are really good. modern sonic is also a lot better. im sorry if we dont give sonic a sword you sonic fag but please chill out.
@sagax05 The controls are too loose and Sonic's jump is too heavy. The platforming is pretty badly laid out, actually. Sonic having a sword was entertaining, but don't Sonic fags have to like every single Sonic game?
yes pwease :). lol anyway. the sword aspect of black knight first off interfered with speed and the boss fights were really bad for sonic games. in generation you have good fast gampelay with old stages that get life breathed back into them. i have no idea why you see it in such a bad way lmao.
It did slow it down, and they were terrible. But I don't think Sonic needs to blaze through everything, so that's just a matter of who likes what. I enjoyed the day stages in Unleashed because i t took me less time to get used to them. Generations I still haven't gotten used to, but it's still better for me then colors. I miss the epic plots more then the platforming-heaving gameplay from the Adventure games. I'm a sucker for story, and now Sonic only tells bad jokes. :(
im all for big plots....but seriously 06..time travel. and in the end they say it was all just a dream. i mean i myself liked teh older plots from hereos shadow the ehdgehog which was my last favorite sonic game until generations and adventure 1 and 2. however sonic and the black knight secret rings and 06 story were terrible lol. generations has a decent simple story which i like.
@sagax05 Shadow and 06 are my favorites. They have theirs faws, I'm not denying, but it takes some really boring gameplay for me to care. And, honestly, I didn't have that many problems with either of them. A few cheap deaths here and there, but nothing like the reviews suggest. With colors and generations, I would at least like them for gameplay or story if they'd done anything that I like, but they didn't. Simple Sonic can be good, just look at Unleashed. But it has balanced humor and drama.
Im sorry to argue again but 06 was TERRIBLE. the controls were losser then a cheap boston hooker, and you couldn;t even control sonic when you went into hyper speed. silver and shadow were way to slow, i liked shadow because he had fun combat and sonic 06 was not about speed it was a beatem up with terrible controls. not to mention the graphics were TERRIBLE. i finished the whole game and the boss fight was also a joke.
@sagax05 It seems like a mature expression of an opinion. One that I appreciate, by the way. :)
In my experience, the sensitive controls of Sonic 06 make it feel light and nimble. Silver's slow, but his combat is super fun. The graphics could've been more realistic, but the animations were smooth in every case except Sonic's wall jumping animation. The FMVs are amazing, but that's typical with Sonic. The boss fight was easy, but that's better then overly-hard bosses like Perfect Dark Gaia.
perfect dark gaia boss fight was amazing because well...its everything a boss fight should have been. challenging to test your skills at the end of the game. silver's combat, IMO was very boring. its that he fought slow, moved slow, and his story was so slow xD. and that basic went against sonic was based on.
@sagax05 It was hard for the wrong reasons. The Rings are too hard to see and collect, the laser and meteor attacks are too hard to dodge with all the rocks and tentacles sticking out of the shield. It takes too long to get used to the controls, as well, and Chip dies too fast.
Silver's just a different character. It's not fun to just run all the time, even in a Sonic game. What did you think of the rest of the story?
i think running is the whole purpose of a sonic game lmao xD. i thought the story was terrible in the end and it ended in such a bad way. like it was all just a dream.
@sagax05 Speed is good, but you don't have to be moving so fast that you can't see. Sonic only needs to be a little faster then normal. Platforming is the point, ultimately.
Hmm. I hate the cartoony plots of colors and generations. They're just so ... stupid, and not at all like Sonic. The way it ended wasn't a bad thing, it was part of the emotional value. I guess I'm not surprised, though. Thanks. :)
Sonic started of in that very childish fun stun. even though i am only 15, and i grew up when the dreamcast came out, helll my first console was the dreamcast and first game was sonic adventure, sonic adventure, 2, shadow, and heroes all had good easy plots. imo 06 is where it all went wrong. i know SEGA will eventually return to the more complex like plots but 06 was to much for a game about about a blue hedgehog. theres a limit of how complex you can make the story lol.
@sagax05 The original story was about rescuing baby animals from being trapped inside cold, killer robots while trying to save the world from a space station called the Death Egg. That doesn't sound very childish to me. Adventure, Adventure 2, and Shadow had pretty complex plots, but Heroes' wasn't. The limit to how dark you can make Sonic is T rated. As long as they never make a T rated game, they haven't crossed the line. He's not vey silly or cartoony-looking like Mario or Crash, after all.
sonic is ultra cartoony. hes a naked blue hedgehog who can move at blast speeds xD. and sonic generations is about saving the world and time from being destroyed and eggman is trying to destroy it.
@sagax05 His legs are too long, his body is too defined, he's too sleek and badass-looking. Generations is about all that, yes, but it doesn't take itself seriously enough. Sonic games have been a certain way, and people got used to it, regardless of the reviews. They shouldn't change it for the retros who spent all these years complaining about Sonic. We modern fans are the ones who kept them alive.
as a modern fan myself, i know for a fact generation has been the best game since shadow the hedgehog. 06 secret rings and black knight all had terrible storys. while secret rings was a pretty good game tho. sega focused on speed and platforming which made it incredible.
@sagax05 That's not a fact, because not everyone agrees with it. It's true that lots of people like generations, but that doesn't make it the best Sonic game. It wasn't made for modern fans, it was made for retro fans. Modern Sonic has dark stories, gimmicky gameplay, angsty music, and at least slightly realistic graphics. 06 focused on speed and platforming, too. Except Silver, he was slow, but that's not a bad thing. 06-Black Knight had good stories. It's better when Sonic is serious.
no it isnt xD. seriosully hes a naked blue hedgehog with michael jackson shoes that colour was based of santa clause(that was a true fact lol btw). story really does not matter in sonic. look at mario. its still basic stuff. but the games are fun. the platforming is great in those games and so are the puzzles and power ups. in 06 the platforming was terrible slow, and glitchy. and the speed was non existent for the most part. generations was made for both fans btw.
@sagax05 He is NOT Mario. Mario's about a world full on talking mushrooms and dinosaur-lizard crossbreeds where mushrooms make you grow taller and flowers give you fire balls. The fat protagonist saves a princess too stupid to remember her own name from a retarded-looking turtle with an orange mohawk. Everything in Mario is a billion times more ridicuous then anything they've ever done with Sonic. The games aren't that fun, either. They just look colorful. SEGA said generations was...
@sagax05 ...made for both fans, but they lied. "Modern Sonic" is generally accepted to mean dark and dramatic emo stories, gimmicky and/or multi-character gameplay, angsty sounding rock and orchestra music, and graphics that look at least a little bit like Earth, instead of some God-awful cartoony planet with no humans in it. In 06, you go fast all the time. It's just that, like the Genesis games, it relies on dash panels, instead of allowing Sonic to reach ludicrous speeds on his own.
the human world in modern sonic always suck. there either generic or like in 06 they all act like zombies. the gameplay was split and nice and yes classic sonic played a lot better then modern sonic and the classic sonic stages are a lot better designed.
@sagax05 No, it doesn't. The gay little worlds they created for colors and generations do, though. In Adventure, they act like zombies, in Shadow they act a little stiff. They never are generic, and least of all in 06. The gameplay was CALLED modern Sonic, but it wasn't REALLY modern Sonic. They designed that stupid gameplay formula for the retro fanboys, and the only reason they call it modern Sonic is because some of it's in 3D. It's not really meant for modern fans.
yes it is? the 3d stages are 3d with a bit of 2d using the unleashed engine. and are you kidding me xD. on 06 life in the games suck. hub world in that is too big and everyone there iss really dead. i dont know what your smoking man, but for people who have played generations they know that the modern Sonic there has way better gameplay and controls then the shitty sonic in 06.
@sagax05 Just because they call it modern doesn't mean it's really modern. The levels are linear and they guide you around by the hand. The Genesis games were at leasta little varied. I'm playing 06 right now. There's plenty of life. I've played generations and it sucks. It's boring to play, it has a dumb story, terrible music, and a ridiculous art style. It's not a fact that 06 is bad, just a common opinion.
how si there plenty of life? the hub world people dont even go a face. i have no idea waht shitty games you like tos ay 06 is surperior to generations...thats just sad.
@sagax05 There's people, houses, buildings, stores, a train station, a forest, flowers, trees, and water. Those things all give it life. The peope in the HUBs all have faces. A word of adivce, don't call the games I like shitty. If you don't like them, that's all well and good. But when you're talking to me about them, you will be respectful and mature. 06 is superior to generations because I say it is, and this is my opinion we're taking about. No one says you have to agree.
in terms of glitches 06 def takes the cream of the top. however me saying its shitty is just as good as you saying 06 is superior to generations. the people who have faces in hubs all have the same faces, the story is internet fiction as said in the review. and as i said its good to have all those stuff u listed but the feeling of the ares feel like a empty dead area. its sega's bad design at that point.
@sagax05 The only two glitches that have a negative effect on the game are Knux/Rouge's cimbing glitch and Shadow Crisis City gitch. The others are either fun to play around with or aren't going to be found by anyone who doesn't go out of their way ooking for reasons to complain. All humans in all video games have the same faces, except main characters. So, you believe everything you see in a review? What if everyone had given colors a bad review? Would you believe them just because...
@sagax05 ...just because they said it's a bad game? No, you'd probably still like it. The story is NOT as bad as the fanfiction. Have you ever READ Sonic fanfiction? The game's loading is one of its problems. I said it does have problems, but it seriously isn't going to hurt anyone. If we, as a society, are so impatient that 10-15 seconds of loading is too much for us, we have problems that don't even have to do with the Sonic games. 06 isn't a huge disaster. It's just a rushed game.
i agree it wasn't as bad as they said. as i said i bought the game for the ps3 4 years ago, and i replayed it a few months ago. the loading screens are more like 30 seconds and then there are usually two more to boot adding 1 minute and 30 seconds of loading each time. the game was extremely rushed, that was also microsofts fault. this game still could have been good, minus the story if it was delayed a year. imo it deserves a 5.5, not a 4 but hey the reviewers are reviewers.
@sagax05 I've played 3 seperate copies of it. Loading takes about 15 seconds at most. Part of it was Microsoft, part of it was Sony, and part of it was SEGA.
Seriously, WHAT is so bad about the story? It's over-dramatic, so what? Almost all video games are over dramatic. Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Soid, Halo, Call of Duty, etc.? I love all those things, but they are over dramatic. It's not like Sonic being over dramatic is somehow worse then everything else that's over dramatic.
you see theres a difference when the story is about a man whos aging process is out of whack, and a furry blue hedehog. and if this story was used for that, it still wouldnt be good. first off it has bestiality and a very complex time travel story. the complex story is what makes it bad. and its TO FUCKING DRAMATIC FOR A FURRY BLUE HEDGEHOG WHO FREES ANIMAL FROM CAPSULES xD. i dont like gt or gamespot much as there reviews aren't as great but i actually agree with this review.
@sagax05 The only difference is the content. Don't start on the bestiality. Sonic is a furry, that means he's an anthropomorphic who has an attraction to humans. The story isn't that complex, either. Sonic's always been anime-styled. Sonic's not just a woodland critter who frees animal babies. He's a teenage anthro who fights to save the world. That's a serious thing, not something to be joked about. Not that the jokes woud be so bad if they didn't suck so hard.
@radicalcrash and call of duty is about real wars. this is about a furry blue hedgehog who can move at blast speeds. and a silver one thats an esper. a black and red one with guns. there hedgehogs lmao. not people its not supposed to be voer dramatic and realistic, sega tried it here, failed, and that was the end of it. i wasnt disappointed in generations or colors story because i play sonic games for gameplay. i enjoyed shadow, and the adventure stories. 06's was terrible. read my other coment
@sagax05 Call of Duty includes real wars, but it's mostly fictionalized for dramatic effect. The point is, it's melodramatic, with its sad music and terrible-sounding voices. Like we're all supposed to care about the characters in Call of Duty. >.> A hedgehog who can move at blast speeds, an PK hedgehog, and a hedgehog with guns are all pretty badass. Shadow's a lab experiment, Silver's from the future. It makes sense.
I like 06's gameplay, too. I've got a walkthrough up of it.
teleporting hedehogs from the future? WOAAAHH. lmao. and in call of duty you do care. its resembling war, and they make it a lot less dramatic and try to make it look "cooler". trust me ive talked to veterans. call of duty is not as fun as it seems lmao xD. however if you were to tell them that a blue hedgehog moving at blast speeds was more realistic...well then. i liked shadows story but he really had no place in 06. his story was resolved in hedgehog, so why add more drama?sigh
@sagax05 ...Funny. Have you ever watched an anime? That's what Sonic's like. It's always been like that, even in the Genesis days. I have a coupe of war veterans in my family. They all like Sonic. They've never played 06, though I've also played COD, and I don't play it that often, but I do think it's fun sometimes. Very few video games are realistic, but a lot of them try to be. Sonic's realistic world would have...
you mean sonic x? lmao. i understand if your trying compare sonic to "Death Note" or "Bakuman"(Gotta love Obata and edo's work) to sonic the hedgehog...well even then the level of seriousness is way off. the closest thing u can compare it to is DBZ since sonic is a dbz rip-off, but even then dbz never took it self as seriously as sonic did in 06 lmao. I have watched tons of anime and the only sonic one was x, which was very childish and boring lmao xD. Sonic is cartoon lv serious
@sagax05 ...the loose controls and too-far-out camera fuck you up at every turn.
The games are anime games. The art style is anime, the seriousness is anime, and even the humor is anime. Sonic X is a great show with a fine balance between childish and mature. But it's non-canon so it has little to do with the games. Sonic's not a DBZ rip-off. Super Sonic looks a very little bit like the super saiyans, but that's as far as the similarities go. Certain cartoons are very serious and...
@sagax05 ...Sonic is one of them. He can't pull off humor. He just can't. All of his attempts fail, in every game where he tries to be funny, not just colors and generations. It isn't funny.
sonic is marketed towards kid. sonic is nothing like a serious anime. first off sonic was drawn cartoon style. modern sonic was drawn in that way and btw sonic x is a terrible show. bad script and storyline.
@sagax05 Anime is marketed to kids. Sonic is everything like a serious anime. Even colors and generations have serious anime-styled moments, such as when the wisps rescue Sonic. Old Sonic has large, cutesy eyes and blocky-yet detailed enemies and environments, just like a 90s anime. As for Sonic X, that's not for you to say. You can say that you didn't like it, but it was a good show anyway.
you clearly know NOTHING about anime. CERTAIN anime is marketed to kids. those would be shonen and shojo manga/anime. and old sonic is a mix of Japanese and american but they decided to take the more american route. Sonic is nothing like a serious anime. hes a children cartoon more then anything. Hes not even serious enough for shonen gag manga standards.
@sagax05 Sonic is one of those animes marketed to kids. He was made in Japan, for God's sake. Just look at the art style. Look at all the story arcs. Look at how the comics are drawn and the toys are fashioned. It's an anime franchise, and that's all. Just because you can't take it seriously doesn't mean that it isn't meant to be serious. Every Sonic game, including the old ones, has seriousness in it. The music is dark, the environments are dark most of the time. Play Sonic CD.
i have played sonic cd? its not that dark. its made for kids and its not supposed to be taken serious.a nd as a big of a sonic fan you ar yourself i thought you know the sega team of aemerica made his design, his previous design was very anime like. this design was made for cartoons. modern sonic was made for anime.
@sagax05 You've seriously played Sonic CD and are telling me it's not dark... A majority of anime is made for kids. Adults don't like that shit, it annoys them.
I had a biref discussion with SEGA following Sonic's 19th anniversary competition. I knew that, but it was still made to look like anime because it had to appeal to both crowds. The original Sonic had him as a band member with a chick named Madonna. Of course they dumbed it down, that would've sucked in US AND Japan.
@sagax05 ...been received better if SEGA had gotten to finish the game. People either would've liked the gameplay and ignored the story or the realism, or they might have actually liked it. A lot of people nitpick at 06 when they're real problem is the gameplay. Well, it's not like they can just get rid of him. He was less interesting in 06, but not totally uninteresting. It was nice to get a chance to see how he's doing after everything he went through.
the story was very uninteresting. as i said if the game finished the development, i would have actually liked the gameplay. if the real issue is teh gameplay, that is where it screwed up the most. the game takes no skill to play. and if sega actually added more memorable life like they did to unleashedin each hub world, it wouldn't have been as bad.
@sagax05 You must not like deep things, then. The story begs you to ask yoursef questions and identify with the characters. And you're trying to tell me that the biggest problem with it is because it's Sonic... Wow, are you kidding about the gameplay? Even if you didn't like it, there's no denying it takes skill and interaction. Colors and generations require little to none. Everything's pretty much laid out to guide you through. And when it does ask you to play for yourself...
@radicalcrash ...Hopefully that game will run like Sonic Unleashed with the modern style gameplay, and it looks like it will. And yeah I don't like it when people keep saying this and that doesn't fit with Sonic. Gunplay and even swords can work if done right. The werehog was probably my favorite alternative gameplay for Sonic. It's a fun gimmick that's got potential to be great imo. Platforming and dodging things is fun. Combat is okay, but could be better.
@radicalcrash At the very least, Sonic Team should be the main one to blame. The PS3 version has said to have all the glitches the 360 has plus even worse lag issues. But I guess everyone sees it differently. I respect your opinion as Sonic 06 wasn't THAT bad of a game. It was definitely playable and some enjoyable. And I think Sonic Generations is going to be awesome. Can't wait for that!
@K83b2 I notice there's more lag, in the Town Stages. But in the Action Stahes, the lag is purposeful. It's just too coincidental that there's lag, for example, on the Crisis City Mach Speed stage, where it's easier to see and control Sonic through. There's only 1 pop-up issue, too in the PS3 version and none in the 360 (pretty sure I would notice almost two years later). I think Generations will be good because they plan to lessen the 2.5D and aim to recapture Unleashed's mostly-serious story.
Sonic games have been extremely hard sense it first ever came out. It was even hard and glitchy on dreamcast and hard on genesis. I probably will get this game for the new graphics because I'm a huge sonic fan. All I want to know is if you can play sonic wii games using a gamecube controller????
@codydalla Yes on the Sonic Wii games you can use the Gamecube controller. and don't believe any of the reviews or rumors on this game because only the load times and camera angles are bad, otherwise it is like another Sonic Adventure game!:D
See, I personally like this game, played through it again even to clear the stages on the increased difficulty setting. I ran into a few glitches, but once i got the hang of the controls, I loved it. And yes, I know a lot of people disagree, but thats just my opinion. Great game!!!
I gotta admit though... one thing this game DID get right was that the graphics and CGI where beautiful! That, and the sound track was one of the best I've ever heard, not just for a sonic game, but ANY game I've ever played.
most of you probably know but thsi game wasn't exactly finished. the game was gonan be delayed to be finished but then critics got a hold of it and they had to release it like this. so it wasn't sonic team or SEGA fault this game sucks.
@goldw1993 Then you're pretty fucking stupid, played the whole game even though you hated it. The music is good, graphics awesome for the time, and still are, Shadows story was great. You live in denial man...
@NKSPKI The music is great. The graphics are awful. They may be colorful, but they still are awful. They were decent back then. Shadow's story was completely awful, just like the other two. You live in denial man...
P.S I only finished the game because I don't like quitting on games in the middle of them.
@NKSPKI The music is great. The graphics are awful. They may be colorful, but they still are awful. Sonic Colors looks better than this game and that's a Wii game. They were decent back then. Shadow's story was completely awful, just like the other two. You live in denial man...
P.S I only finished the game because I don't like quitting on games in the middle of them.
I really liked the game. But I won't defend it, there is alot of problems, but there are just enough of those fun moments for me, to say that this is likeable.
@goldw1993 I don't know what your complaining about, there are other games harder than this. The very first Sonic game is much harder than this and I stand by that statement.
@Sabe533 ...What? This game is easy. Almost too easy. The game is cheap at times due to it's twitchy controls, bad level design, and glitches, but the game is very easy.
Just gonna say it; To the people who tolerated this game, what? Do you want a medal because you liked an unfinished game? Opinions are opinions, that's true, and it's up to the gamer to say how it was. However, from if the highest number of supporters are obvious fans who only give the same, "It's not a bad game because Sonic's in it," or "I liked it. There are no glitches", then how do you expect people to view your credibility. One character isn't enough to defend the horridness that is this.
You also know when the company who made the game has to apologize for it's unfinished development, even when they had time to fix the 2nd port, you're buying a bad game. This isn't just a comment to bash the game, I'm just tired of people(mainly you supporters and fanboys) who attack the people who have common sense of what "sad" is in a physical manifestation. -_-
I think this game has a lot of potential. What they need to do is take out the princess from the story and then rework the levels to flow more like Sonic Adventure and the daytime levels for Sonic Colors. With that, this game could be sick. Honestly, I kinda wanna see if Sega can make a good Sonic game also featuring Shadow and Silver.
this game is not the sonic we all know and love sonic rescuing and flirting with princesses? pfft thats just a mario thing plus sonic didn seem like sonic he was slow and weak his personality was lame i really hope sege have learnt there lesson with this one the only thing i like bout this game is the song in his world and silver but now to me this game does not exist
@gary2975 I'm a sonic fan and I like the game, if you asked every sonic fan on the planet you'll find a lot of people that tolerate the game. Video games are all based on opinion, if you don't like a game and somebody else does and that makes you mad then that's just the way the world works nobody is right and nobody is wrong. if you can't respect anybody else's then you shouldn't even be angry about what he said
I dont have the game but i think it looks really good, i mean i dont really care about loading screens, and when he runs and u dont really have to control him you should just enjoy the scenery and it makes you look really good with all the tricks lol
i say 2/10. STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS GAME. It's not playable and the story is....So bad i can't even put it into the correct words. Sega, WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!
Im a die hard sonic fan, but seriously, why the hell would you defend this atrocious abomination?!

this game isn't as bad as everyone says it is
loadtimes:fixable by an installation and a problem in hundreds of other Xbox games
glitches:i hit very few on my playthroughspeed:sonic doesn't need to blast through everygame he's ever been in
Story: there is no implied romance between any of the characters(the ending was more of a cheesy story book kinda thing)controls: you guys act as though you've never played a game with some loose controls before
think about that while you play this DECENT game

@tmgr100 Yes it is. The loading screens are still a problem, especially in the town missions, and what about the PS3 version? The fact that glitches can happen at any time, and that they kill you in fact, means the game was poorly programmed. The story is overdramatic trash and the only point of Sonic's story was his relationship with Elise. And the controls really are shit, especially compared to many other games.
Sorry, but the game is terrible, and deserves the hate.
agentk16 1 month ago
@agentk16 Well i still enjoy sonic 06 no matter what you say.I enjoyed almost every minute of this game. Its all in opinion, and i love this game

SADX had the same bad camera, glitchy gameplay, disappearing NPCs, and slowdown, but I loved that game. is that still to say I shouldn't buy this?
dtwiiguru6 4 months ago

What twitchy controls? The controls are not twitchy in this game. Camera is bad at times yes but it's better then in Shadow the Hedgehog.
Fuck sega.

@Wandervon Your an idiot and a liar.
pkstarstorm1up 5 months ago
Wow. The arrogance of the haters. Nobody has any right to run around and say that their opinion is the truth. This is a good game. Better then the likes of Colors. Anyone who doesn't agree can always just go play Colors and shut up.
radicalcrash 7 months ago
@radicalcrash WTF? SONIC 06 SUCKS!!!!! Sonic Colors at least plays like a GAME. So why don't YOU shut up?
david52042 6 months ago
@david52042 Mistake.
06 is the way Sonic has always been.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash I apologize for that outburst. But seriously, Sonic 06 has good graphics, great music, and the addition of new characters such as Mephiles, Silver, Blaze, and Iblis is awesome. The reason I don't like 06 is because of the many glitches I experienced during my time with the game. I don't own Sonic Colors, but I've seen gameplay. It looks smooth enough.
P.S. How is Sonic different on Sonic 06? He seems the same on both games. Same personality as always.
Just my opinion
david52042 6 months ago
@david52042 Being a Sonic 06 fan means that I have to be suspicious. I've experienced only two glitches that happen every single time I've played it. That would be Shadow's vehicles and Rouge/Knuckles getting stuck to the wall (easy to fix), so I don't have any glitch problems. I think the actual haters are just liars. This game plays better then the other 3D Sonics with nimble controls and controllable camera, with the music, graphics, and ESPECIALLY story.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@david52042 I respect opinion AS LONG AS PEOPLE RESPECT MINE. If they don't, in the words of Sonic: "Let's see what you can do!" The way Sonic is different is that in colors he acts like a fucking clown in a Sonic costume. Seriously, what kind of Sonic game actually tells JOKES? Sonic has never been lighthearted since Sonic CD. In Sonic 06, his personality is more likeable because he takes things seriously and emotionally. And his intense frown is just plain badass.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash Yeah, I never really did get the jokes. Somehow, I thought they were funny, but, in agreement with you, it does make Sonic look like an idiot.
Different people experienced different glitches in the game. And yes, people lie and make up glitches like "Sonic floating" and "Silver's telepathic powers not working", which is complete bullshit. I do respect your opinion in the sense that Sonic 06 is more serious than Colors.
david52042 6 months ago
@david52042 Well, since Sonic is a traditional Japanese franchise, everything in 06 is not only perfectly in place, but easy to explain. And even the Western audience should be able tobsee that Sonic has never been a lighthearted thing.
Let's see, the list of glitches that are made up. Falling through the floor, getting stuck to walls, plane flicker, and bosses that don't die. Colors is purely fanboy service. Because there are some hardcore retros who whine.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
But seriously, man, why the hell would you tell people to "shut up" and go play Colors just because they don't like 06? I mean, 06 isn't EXACTLY the best Sonic game ever, but it's not the worst. People should be able to like and dislike whatever game they want without someone beating them down for it.
Again, just my opinion.
david52042 6 months ago
@david52042 That isn't exactly what I said. I can't just post online something like "06 is a good game", or I'll be swarmed. Even if some people respect my opinions, most don't. I do think that 06 is the best, and that colors is the worst, and since that is a radically different opinion, people will attack me over it, so I have to will attack first out of instinct. It's not right, but it's my gut reaction or pre-action. And noticr, no matter how I act, people still try beat me down.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@david52042 I'm angry, you see. Angry because the hatred of 06 means it's unlikely that they will make another one like it. And 06 is very personal to me. Actually, it's responsible for me still being alive. If something had kept you alive, even if it was a video game, and even if it was a controversial one, wouldn't you react angrily to anyone who attacked it and/or you over it?
radicalcrash 6 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@radicalcrash So Sonic 06 is a favorite of yours, and you're simply defending it...Sorry for misunderstanding, bro :)
david52042 6 months ago
@radicalcrash Sonic 06 isn't that bad of a game by any means, but I thought it was the worst 3D Sonic game of the decade (actually that might be Black Knight). But with that said, it was mostly playable. The game was enjoyable in some aspects like Silver's gameplay and Shadow, when he's not using vehicles. But the loading screens were atrocious and the characters moved too slow. I also hated the mac speed stages and Sonic's story. But it was an okay game. I wished they had actually finished it.
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 I appreciate it, but the worst 3D game is colors, and nobody will be able to convince me otherwise. The game is just so bad in every way. In the horrible 2.5D sections, the physics are so loose that double jumping (and why is there a double jump in the first place?) is more dangerous then any of the bland enemies, without even mentioning the terrible platform placement to begin with. The 3D sections are so empty, and the obstacles are even worse then the platforms, that it just sucks.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@K83b2 The music is completely aimless, as well, with even more soul-crushing repetition then the Unleashed day stages. Wii-standard graphics are fine because they're ... well, Wii-standard. The story is a disgrace to video gaming, and especially Sonic. It's bad enough they actually tried to put "humor" in a franchise that has always been dark and emotional with Unleashed, but in colors, they destroyed it. It's a drunk midget hobo in a clown costume, not Sonic anymore.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@K83b2 Silver is a lot of fun, yep. :) And Shadow's vehicles are one of the only two recurring bugs or glitches in the game I've encountered, and today I just completed the game for the 147th time. I've played on both consoles and hunted down all the Medals on each console at least once. The mach speed is fun, except Radical Train's. Sonic's story? Oh, you mean Elise, of course. In Sonic universe, furry is the norm since 1998 ('99 in the US), so it's not out of place. It doesn't even look odd.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash Nah, I respect your opinion. But I think Sonic Unleashed is the best one in the last decade. And about Colors' story, remember Sonic is also something kids play, but can also be something that even older audiences can enjoy. And so yeah the story is silly, but it isn't exactly too cutesy. I mean just take a look at Kirby's Epic Yarn (haven't played it, but it doesn't look too great), now THAT one takes it too far that it's almost not worth trying out...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 Thanks, and Unleashed is my second favorite. Chip and Sonic's friendship is as emotionally effective as (I find) Sonic and Elise's romance. Colors' story is ... really disgusting, and not just by Sonic standards. Remember, too, that most kids play M-Rated games these days. Colors is too difficult for a 6-year-old, and according to SEGA, they're shooting for a more Unleashed-like style because colors didn't draw in many potential new fans. Nintendo makes its money off 4 repetitive series.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash And I thought music in Sonic Colors was excellent. Though Sonic has always excelled in music. I thought it was fun. There were definitely problems, such as it being too short and I did not like the quick step controls. Unleashed had that perfectly and I hated how in Colors, they replaced the QTEs with just pressing "A" over and over. And about Sonic Next Gen, i never really liked the mach speed zones and the worst one to me was the one in Kingdom Valley...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 As I said to my most recent friend, I must admire you for enjoying it. The controls are awkward, but the virtual signs is really good. The QTEs would've been a good feature in 06 instead of the wall jumping, actually. Really? My first time through, Kingdom Valley is the one I had the least trouble with, and I thought it was too short, especially considering how long the Water section of the OST is, and how it was the coolest one conceptually. Although, Crisis City is really awesome.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash ...To me, it was not necessary at all to have a mach speed zone at the end of a 15 min level that was otherwise a fun level. I lose all my lives due to confusing and poor level design and have to play it all over again. The loading times were atrocious, though mainly in the town stages where they would constantly pop up to load the mission and even to load a message from sound town person...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 The loading times are one of my two serious issues with the game. Yes, they are bad in the Town Stages, but at the end of the day, they are only 10 seconds. The Town Stages themselves are limited, and I miss the real time cycles, as well as all the unfinished animations from SEGA's QAD build that they pitched to Microsoft in the first place. Although Microsoft are somewhat responsible for the unfinished qualities of 06, it's also true that SEGA and Sonic Team fell off the band wagon also.
radicalcrash 6 months ago

I'll surrender the...
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@K83b2 ...corny dialogue point, because when I look at Sonic 06 and compare it something such as Assassin's Creed, it's easier to identify with the AC dialogue. I'm not saying I want to see a Sonic game where you assassinate people, but it's harder to take a video game starring humans as seriously as a game starring anthros, because ordinary people don't have adventures. So if they just took the realistic-styled dialogue instead of anime-styled, but kept the drama and emotion, it'd all be good.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash That is true. Kids do play M-rated games like COD nowadays. And as for the Sonic and Elise relationship, I wasn't sure if it was the relationship itself that was negatively received, but rather it was the fact that Sonic was having one with a human being instead of maybe a female hedgehog (or an animal). However, it bugs me alot when people bitch about little things about Sonic, like the chosen storylines, characters (chip was fine to me). And you're right, some stories are not...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 Kids don't like to play games that they don't think the "big boys" play. 6-year-olds know how to play video games, but colors is too complex in its design and too unfairly difficult for all the wrong reasons for them. It shouldn't matter if Elise is a human or not. Like I said, since Sonic Adventure, furry is the norm. You can't limit the manimals and humans in Sonic's universe strictly to other manimals and humans. It doesn't make any sense. Sonic's not a real hedgehog, so it's not...
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash ...meant to be taken seriously. And actually, I bet a alot of 6 year-olds would know how to finish a game. But I guess I don't know for sure. And I don't think Microsoft was the one to blame for the unfinished released games. If that were the case, then why isn't the PS3 version superior? Then shouldn't Sony also be the one to blame? In fact, the PS3 version was said to play even worse than the 360 version...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 beastiality. It's just like a normal 15-year-old falling in love with a normal 17-year-old. Except the 15-year-old's blue. *shrugs* And?
Microsoft are the ones who wanted Sonic's game by November, or they threatened to terminate SEGA's contract. Sony didn't, so no, they aren't to blame. The PS3 version is superior with quicker cut-scenes, smoother homing attacks, and less-buggy mechanics, but it was only developed for one extra month. Not a lot of time.
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash Although Sega seemed to be taking too many risks, I admire them for trying different ideas out. I honestly didn't mind Shadow being edgier, or Sonic in a more realistic environment, though I think something like Unleashed was the perfect balance.
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 Risks? Do you mean with 06 or Unleashed? With Unleashed, they took a risk with the werehog, but that's actually my favorite part of the game. And I promise, I'm not doing it just to be as different as possible. :) I just think the Unleashed day stages are too crowded. However, crowded is better then the boring-cheap stages of colors. At least someone can memorize Unleashed.
Shadow's always been edgy-ish, true. Unleashed has better graphics, but the cartoony thing is so-so, I find...
radicalcrash 6 months ago
@radicalcrash Not just risks with Unleashed, but risks in general, even if they were flawed. For instance I've been disappointed with Nintendo's philosophy in their games since the Wii. The only game that stood out really well was Super Mario Galaxy. But lately they've made their games towards either casual audiences or made it too kid friendly. I don't think I've thought once that Sonic was too kiddy for me. But anyhow, I admire Sega for taking risks...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 Fair enough, for sure. Although I don't think that SEGA viewed it as a risk, because in ther mind, it makes perfect sense. The idea of combinig swordplay with Sonic's speed is a great one, but the actual game came out less-then-perfect. Shadow is a great candidate for guns, as his character is dark and emo to the max. But all the fan focus on is "Sawneek's not 'sposed to be likeee thaat". Find a real reason to complain, is what I'm saying, and egdy Sonic stories aren't that reason.
radicalcrash 5 months ago
@radicalcrash ...I would not want Nintendo developing for Sonic. Even if the games would be built better, they'll end making Sonic too kid friendly and then taking away all the difficulty like they did with Kirby's Epic Yarn (only a presumption as I haven't played it.). And if I recall, the Sonic Team director even said they wanted to launch Sonic 06 for the holidays, so I doubt Microsoft would be the one to blame...
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 I don't see the appeal of Nintendo games. Much as O enjoyed Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and 2 both gave me a headache within the first 5 minutes of playing. You're right, Nintendo would ruin Sonic. Here's an idea for SEGA. Develop the kiddy games for Wii and the dark games for 360 and PS3. By no means am I saying that Sonic Team aren't to blame, but they aren't the only ones, and the flaws of the game just aren't that terrible. That's my point. I think you knew, though.
radicalcrash 5 months ago
@radicalcrash Yeah the flaws in Sonic games don't necessarily make the games unplayable. But I think Sonic 06 could have been polished more. And I think that's why Sonic Colors was made for the Wii only. Sega even said the game was designated towards children, but also would be challenging enough that older audiences will enjoy it. And Colors succeeds with that (not my favorite since it was too short and fairly easy, but still really decent). And now Generations will be made for the HD consoles.
K83b2 5 months ago
@K83b2 I don't think the Sonic games have even been all that flawed. Truth be told, Heroes and colors are the only ones I have trouble with. But Heroes only has bad controls and an overly-simple story. I find colors has a lot more problems. But I've never had trouble with the Sonic Adventures, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06, Sonic Unleashed (apart from the first time through the day stages), or the Sonic storybook games. They just aren't bad games. They're just not.
radicalcrash 5 months ago
@radicalcrash I agree the newer Sonic games aren't that bad. You can't trust gaming critics anymore. Like the tool on IGN who reviewed Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360. He just flat out bashed the game without even going into detail and has no idea what he's talking about. Over exaggerates on everything single thing. Bottomline, Most Sonic games have always been fun despite its flaws, even the 3D ones.
K83b2 5 months ago
@K83b2 Hilary Goldstein? Yeah, he sucks. He also died on purpose. He's the worst staff member on IGN. Besides Matt ... uh, I don't remember his last name, but he's a big Wii fan. Wii games could be so much better, it's a shame that the console's been almost totally wasted. Motion controls are a bad idea. And now we've got Kinect with NO controls? Fuck. The only real problem with Unleashed is the inconsistency of the day stages the first time you play them, but by the 2nd and 3rd time, it's fine.
radicalcrash 5 months ago
@radicalcrash Hilary's review for Unleashed was ridiculous. The game gets flak, but the 360/PS3 version are fun. Once you get past the night stages...which just repetitive, they don't have tons of glitches or anything game breaking, the game is great. I'd give it somewhere in the 8-9 range. That being said though, Generations is a much better game than any Sonic game in a while.
Oh, and if you are talking about Matt Cassamassina, he's no longer there. One of the best reviewers on IGN though.
ShadowPhazonv2 2 months ago
@ShadowPhazonv2 It was. Actually, if I'm honest, I don't like IGN at al. I wanted to strangle them when I saw their generations' previews. They called themselves Sonic fans. Yeah, sure. And I'm a unicorn princess from Mars.
I prefer the Werehog. The day stages are better then colors. They don't try to be fast and ful of platforming, which just doesn't work.
Yeah, him. He gave Black Knight and the Wii/PS2 Unleashed bad reviews. I can't say about SD Unleashed,
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash They still gave Generations a great score, so I don't think previews should matter.
Ehh, all I have to say is that the levels were repetitive, and the full game should have just been those day stages. However, I don't have a burning hatred for the night levels though.
Uhh, that's his job, to critic reviews. Black Knight deserved the negative reviews. It was not a good game. Unleashed, he gave the Wii version of the game the highest score on the site. Don't be so picky.
ShadowPhazonv2 2 months ago
@ShadowPhazonv2 Generations isn't great.
Those games are old for a reason.
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash You don't like Generations? What do you want from a Sonic game then? It had classic 2D levels for older fans, and the 3D levels for modern fans. That game has like everything you could want. I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have stupid gimmicks, it isn't glitchy, it's just a very fun, well done game.
The enemies all felt the same, as did the moves.
They didn't sell out. Sonic games get more than enough sales regardless. They are doing something for fans who want GOOD games.
ShadowPhazonv2 2 months ago
@ShadowPhazonv2 The 3D levels were just the same bland 2D sections turned forward. Not one of the Sonic gimmicks they ever tried were stupid. Not one, from the guns to the sword. They may not have used the fullest of their potential, but they were far from stupid. Glitchy is a bold statement. Some agree, but I've had almost no glitch troubles, myself. So are all fighters. They gave in to the retro fanboys. Fanboys, mind, who DON'T get to say what is and isn't good based only on their own ideals.
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
no they did not? the 2d sections are well prgorammed and the platforms are really good. modern sonic is also a lot better. im sorry if we dont give sonic a sword you sonic fag but please chill out.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 The controls are too loose and Sonic's jump is too heavy. The platforming is pretty badly laid out, actually. Sonic having a sword was entertaining, but don't Sonic fags have to like every single Sonic game?
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
hey guys is this a sonic fag we're seeing here?
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 Bad day? :) Do you need a huuuuuug? :D
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
yes pwease :). lol anyway. the sword aspect of black knight first off interfered with speed and the boss fights were really bad for sonic games. in generation you have good fast gampelay with old stages that get life breathed back into them. i have no idea why you see it in such a bad way lmao.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 Aw. *hugs*
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
im all for big plots....but seriously 06..time travel. and in the end they say it was all just a dream. i mean i myself liked teh older plots from hereos shadow the ehdgehog which was my last favorite sonic game until generations and adventure 1 and 2. however sonic and the black knight secret rings and 06 story were terrible lol. generations has a decent simple story which i like.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 Shadow and 06 are my favorites. They have theirs faws, I'm not denying, but it takes some really boring gameplay for me to care. And, honestly, I didn't have that many problems with either of them. A few cheap deaths here and there, but nothing like the reviews suggest. With colors and generations, I would at least like them for gameplay or story if they'd done anything that I like, but they didn't. Simple Sonic can be good, just look at Unleashed. But it has balanced humor and drama.
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
Im sorry to argue again but 06 was TERRIBLE. the controls were losser then a cheap boston hooker, and you couldn;t even control sonic when you went into hyper speed. silver and shadow were way to slow, i liked shadow because he had fun combat and sonic 06 was not about speed it was a beatem up with terrible controls. not to mention the graphics were TERRIBLE. i finished the whole game and the boss fight was also a joke.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 It seems like a mature expression of an opinion. One that I appreciate, by the way. :)
In my experience, the sensitive controls of Sonic 06 make it feel light and nimble. Silver's slow, but his combat is super fun. The graphics could've been more realistic, but the animations were smooth in every case except Sonic's wall jumping animation. The FMVs are amazing, but that's typical with Sonic. The boss fight was easy, but that's better then overly-hard bosses like Perfect Dark Gaia.
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
perfect dark gaia boss fight was amazing because well...its everything a boss fight should have been. challenging to test your skills at the end of the game. silver's combat, IMO was very boring. its that he fought slow, moved slow, and his story was so slow xD. and that basic went against sonic was based on.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 It was hard for the wrong reasons. The Rings are too hard to see and collect, the laser and meteor attacks are too hard to dodge with all the rocks and tentacles sticking out of the shield. It takes too long to get used to the controls, as well, and Chip dies too fast.
Silver's just a different character. It's not fun to just run all the time, even in a Sonic game. What did you think of the rest of the story?
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
i think running is the whole purpose of a sonic game lmao xD. i thought the story was terrible in the end and it ended in such a bad way. like it was all just a dream.
sagax05 2 months ago
@sagax05 Speed is good, but you don't have to be moving so fast that you can't see. Sonic only needs to be a little faster then normal. Platforming is the point, ultimately.
Hmm. I hate the cartoony plots of colors and generations. They're just so ... stupid, and not at all like Sonic. The way it ended wasn't a bad thing, it was part of the emotional value. I guess I'm not surprised, though. Thanks. :)
radicalcrash 2 months ago
@radicalcrash
Sonic started of in that very childish fun stun. even though i am only 15, and i grew up when the dreamcast came out, helll my first console was the dreamcast and first game was sonic adventure, sonic adventure, 2, shadow, and heroes all had good easy plots. imo 06 is where it all went wrong. i know SEGA will eventually return to the more complex like plots but 06 was to much for a game about about a blue hedgehog. theres a limit of how complex you can make the story lol.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 The original story was about rescuing baby animals from being trapped inside cold, killer robots while trying to save the world from a space station called the Death Egg. That doesn't sound very childish to me. Adventure, Adventure 2, and Shadow had pretty complex plots, but Heroes' wasn't. The limit to how dark you can make Sonic is T rated. As long as they never make a T rated game, they haven't crossed the line. He's not vey silly or cartoony-looking like Mario or Crash, after all.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
sonic is ultra cartoony. hes a naked blue hedgehog who can move at blast speeds xD. and sonic generations is about saving the world and time from being destroyed and eggman is trying to destroy it.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 His legs are too long, his body is too defined, he's too sleek and badass-looking. Generations is about all that, yes, but it doesn't take itself seriously enough. Sonic games have been a certain way, and people got used to it, regardless of the reviews. They shouldn't change it for the retros who spent all these years complaining about Sonic. We modern fans are the ones who kept them alive.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
as a modern fan myself, i know for a fact generation has been the best game since shadow the hedgehog. 06 secret rings and black knight all had terrible storys. while secret rings was a pretty good game tho. sega focused on speed and platforming which made it incredible.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 That's not a fact, because not everyone agrees with it. It's true that lots of people like generations, but that doesn't make it the best Sonic game. It wasn't made for modern fans, it was made for retro fans. Modern Sonic has dark stories, gimmicky gameplay, angsty music, and at least slightly realistic graphics. 06 focused on speed and platforming, too. Except Silver, he was slow, but that's not a bad thing. 06-Black Knight had good stories. It's better when Sonic is serious.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
no it isnt xD. seriosully hes a naked blue hedgehog with michael jackson shoes that colour was based of santa clause(that was a true fact lol btw). story really does not matter in sonic. look at mario. its still basic stuff. but the games are fun. the platforming is great in those games and so are the puzzles and power ups. in 06 the platforming was terrible slow, and glitchy. and the speed was non existent for the most part. generations was made for both fans btw.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 He is NOT Mario. Mario's about a world full on talking mushrooms and dinosaur-lizard crossbreeds where mushrooms make you grow taller and flowers give you fire balls. The fat protagonist saves a princess too stupid to remember her own name from a retarded-looking turtle with an orange mohawk. Everything in Mario is a billion times more ridicuous then anything they've ever done with Sonic. The games aren't that fun, either. They just look colorful. SEGA said generations was...
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@sagax05 ...made for both fans, but they lied. "Modern Sonic" is generally accepted to mean dark and dramatic emo stories, gimmicky and/or multi-character gameplay, angsty sounding rock and orchestra music, and graphics that look at least a little bit like Earth, instead of some God-awful cartoony planet with no humans in it. In 06, you go fast all the time. It's just that, like the Genesis games, it relies on dash panels, instead of allowing Sonic to reach ludicrous speeds on his own.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
the human world in modern sonic always suck. there either generic or like in 06 they all act like zombies. the gameplay was split and nice and yes classic sonic played a lot better then modern sonic and the classic sonic stages are a lot better designed.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 No, it doesn't. The gay little worlds they created for colors and generations do, though. In Adventure, they act like zombies, in Shadow they act a little stiff. They never are generic, and least of all in 06. The gameplay was CALLED modern Sonic, but it wasn't REALLY modern Sonic. They designed that stupid gameplay formula for the retro fanboys, and the only reason they call it modern Sonic is because some of it's in 3D. It's not really meant for modern fans.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
yes it is? the 3d stages are 3d with a bit of 2d using the unleashed engine. and are you kidding me xD. on 06 life in the games suck. hub world in that is too big and everyone there iss really dead. i dont know what your smoking man, but for people who have played generations they know that the modern Sonic there has way better gameplay and controls then the shitty sonic in 06.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 Just because they call it modern doesn't mean it's really modern. The levels are linear and they guide you around by the hand. The Genesis games were at leasta little varied. I'm playing 06 right now. There's plenty of life. I've played generations and it sucks. It's boring to play, it has a dumb story, terrible music, and a ridiculous art style. It's not a fact that 06 is bad, just a common opinion.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
how si there plenty of life? the hub world people dont even go a face. i have no idea waht shitty games you like tos ay 06 is surperior to generations...thats just sad.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 There's people, houses, buildings, stores, a train station, a forest, flowers, trees, and water. Those things all give it life. The peope in the HUBs all have faces. A word of adivce, don't call the games I like shitty. If you don't like them, that's all well and good. But when you're talking to me about them, you will be respectful and mature. 06 is superior to generations because I say it is, and this is my opinion we're taking about. No one says you have to agree.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
in terms of glitches 06 def takes the cream of the top. however me saying its shitty is just as good as you saying 06 is superior to generations. the people who have faces in hubs all have the same faces, the story is internet fiction as said in the review. and as i said its good to have all those stuff u listed but the feeling of the ares feel like a empty dead area. its sega's bad design at that point.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 The only two glitches that have a negative effect on the game are Knux/Rouge's cimbing glitch and Shadow Crisis City gitch. The others are either fun to play around with or aren't going to be found by anyone who doesn't go out of their way ooking for reasons to complain. All humans in all video games have the same faces, except main characters. So, you believe everything you see in a review? What if everyone had given colors a bad review? @radicalcrash
plz read my previous comment, but dont get me started on this games load times lmao.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 ...just because they said it's a bad game? No, you'd probably still like it. The story is NOT as bad as the fanfiction. Have you ever READ Sonic fanfiction? The game's loading is one of its problems. I said it does have problems, but it seriously isn't going to hurt anyone. If we, as a society, are so impatient that 10-15 seconds of loading is too much for us, we have problems that don't even have to do with the Sonic games. 06 isn't a huge disaster. It's just a rushed game.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
i agree it wasn't as bad as they said. as i said i bought the game for the ps3 4 years ago, and i replayed it a few months ago. the loading screens are more like 30 seconds and then there are usually two more to boot adding 1 minute and 30 seconds of loading each time. the game was extremely rushed, that was also microsofts fault. this game still could have been good, minus the story if it was delayed a year. imo it deserves a 5.5, not a 4 but hey the reviewers are reviewers.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 I've played 3 seperate copies of it. Loading takes about 15 seconds at most. Part of it was Microsoft, part of it was Sony, and part of it was SEGA.
Seriously, WHAT is so bad about the story? It's over-dramatic, so what? Almost all video games are over dramatic. Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Soid, Halo, Call of Duty, etc.? I love all those things, but they are over dramatic. It's not like Sonic being over dramatic is somehow worse then everything else that's over dramatic.
So, you...
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
you see theres a difference when the story is about a man whos aging process is out of whack, and a furry blue hedehog. and if this story was used for that, it still wouldnt be good. first off it has bestiality and a very complex time travel story. the complex story is what makes it bad. and its TO FUCKING DRAMATIC FOR A FURRY BLUE HEDGEHOG WHO FREES ANIMAL FROM CAPSULES xD. i dont like gt or gamespot much as there reviews aren't as great but i actually agree with this review.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 The only difference is the content. Don't start on the bestiality. Sonic is a furry, that means he's an anthropomorphic who has an attraction to humans. The story isn't that complex, either. Sonic's always been anime-styled. Sonic's not just a woodland critter who frees animal babies. He's a teenage anthro who fights to save the world. That's a serious thing, not something to be joked about. Not that the jokes woud be so bad if they didn't suck so hard.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash and call of duty is about real wars. this is about a furry blue hedgehog who can move at blast speeds. and a silver one thats an esper. a black and red one with guns. there hedgehogs lmao. not people its not supposed to be voer dramatic and realistic, sega tried it here, failed, and that was the end of it. i wasnt disappointed in generations or colors story because i play sonic games for gameplay. i enjoyed shadow, and the adventure stories. 06's was terrible. read my other coment
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 Call of Duty includes real wars, but it's mostly fictionalized for dramatic effect. The point is, it's melodramatic, with its sad music and terrible-sounding voices. Like we're all supposed to care about the characters in Call of Duty. >.> A hedgehog who can move at blast speeds, an PK hedgehog, and a hedgehog with guns are all pretty badass. Shadow's a lab experiment, Silver's from the future. It makes sense.
I like 06's gameplay, too. I've got a walkthrough up of it.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
teleporting hedehogs from the future? WOAAAHH. lmao. and in call of duty you do care. its resembling war, and they make it a lot less dramatic and try to make it look "cooler". trust me ive talked to veterans. call of duty is not as fun as it seems lmao xD. however if you were to tell them that a blue hedgehog moving at blast speeds was more realistic...well then. i liked shadows story but he really had no place in 06. his story was resolved in hedgehog, so why add more drama?sigh

@sagax05 ...Funny. Have you ever watched an anime? That's what Sonic's like. It's always been like that, even in the Genesis days. I have a coupe of war veterans in my family. They all like Sonic. you mean sonic x? lmao. i understand if your trying compare sonic to "Death Note" or "Bakuman"(Gotta love Obata and edo's work) to sonic the hedgehog...well even then the level of seriousness is way off. the closest thing u can compare it to is DBZ since sonic is a dbz rip-off, but even then dbz never took it self as seriously as sonic did in 06 lmao. radicalcrash 1 month ago
@sagax05 ...Sonic is one of them. He can't pull off humor. He just can't. All of his attempts fail, in every game where he tries to be funny, not just colors and generations. It isn't funny.

@radicalcrash
sonic is marketed towards kid. sonic is nothing like a serious anime. first off sonic was drawn cartoon style. modern sonic was drawn in that way and btw sonic x is a terrible show. bad script and storyline.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 Anime is marketed to kids. Sonic is everything like a serious anime. Even colors and generations have serious anime-styled moments, such as when the wisps rescue Sonic. Old Sonic has large, cutesy eyes and blocky-yet detailed enemies and environments, just like a 90s anime. As for Sonic X, that's not for you to say. You can say that you didn't like it, but it was a good show anyway.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash
you clearly know NOTHING about anime. CERTAIN anime is marketed to kids. those would be shonen and shojo manga/anime. and old sonic is a mix of Japanese and american but they decided to take the more american route. Sonic is nothing like a serious anime. hes a children cartoon more then anything. Hes not even serious enough for shonen gag manga standards.
sagax05 1 month ago

Of course they dumbed it down, that would've sucked in US AND Japan.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@sagax05 Worth pointing out, not even Shadow and 06 are too dark for young kids.
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@sagax05 ...been received better if SEGA had gotten to finish the game. People either would've liked the gameplay and ignored the story or the realism, or they might have actually liked it. A lot of people nitpick at 06 when they're real problem is the gameplay. Well, it's not like they can just get rid of him. He was less interesting in 06, but not totally uninteresting. It was nice to get a chance to see how he's doing after everything he went through.

@radicalcrash
the story was very uninteresting. as i said if the game finished the development, i would have actually liked the gameplay. if the real issue is teh gameplay, that is where it screwed up the most. the game takes no skill to play. and if sega actually added more memorable life like they did to unleashedin each hub world, it wouldn't have been as bad.
sagax05 1 month ago
@sagax05 You must not like deep things, then. The story begs you to ask yoursef questions and identify with the characters. And you're trying to tell me that the biggest problem with it is because it's Sonic... Wow, are you kidding about the gameplay? Even if you didn't like it, there's no denying it takes skill and interaction. Colors and generations require little to none. Everything's pretty much laid out to guide you through. And when it does ask you to play for yourself...
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@sagax05 ...think that whatever a review says is true?
radicalcrash 1 month ago
@radicalcrash ...Hopefully that game will run like Sonic Unleashed with the modern style gameplay, and it looks like it will. And yeah I don't like it when people keep saying this and that doesn't fit with Sonic. Gunplay and even swords can work if done right. The werehog was probably my favorite alternative gameplay for Sonic. It's a fun gimmick that's got potential to be great imo. Platforming and dodging things is fun. Combat is okay, but could be better.
K83b2 5 months ago
@radicalcrash At the very least, Sonic Team should be the main one to blame. The PS3 version has said to have all the glitches the 360 has plus even worse lag issues. But I guess everyone sees it differently. I respect your opinion as Sonic 06 wasn't THAT bad of a game. It was definitely playable and some enjoyable. And I think Sonic Generations is going to be awesome. Can't wait for that!
K83b2 6 months ago
@K83b2 I notice there's more lag, in the Town Stages. But in the Action Stahes, the lag is purposeful. It's just too coincidental that there's lag, for example, on the Crisis City Mach Speed stage, where it's easier to see and control Sonic through. There's only 1 pop-up issue, too in the PS3 version and none in the 360 (pretty sure I would notice almost two years later). I think Generations will be good because they plan to lessen the 2.5D and aim to recapture Unleashed's mostly-serious story.

@K83b2 By the way, thanks for your patience and unerstanding. :D

It shows how much GT really knows about Sonic if they don't even know how to say Rouge's name.

Nomatter what any review says:
Sonic games have been extremely hard sense it first ever came out. It was even hard and glitchy on dreamcast and hard on genesis. I probably will get this game for the new graphics because I'm a huge sonic fan. All I want to know is if you can play sonic wii games using a gamecube controller????
codydalla 10 months ago
@codydalla Yes on the Sonic Wii games you can use the Gamecube controller. and don't believe any of the reviews or rumors on this game because only the load times and camera angles are bad, otherwise it is like another Sonic Adventure game!:D
pkstarstorm1up 9 months ago
i mostly wanted to play the game because i wanted to play as sonic in shadow the hedgehog, so this is the closest thing i had to it.
JapanFreak1000 10 months ago
See, I personally like this game, played through it again even to clear the stages on the increased difficulty setting. I ran into a few glitches, but once i got the hang of the controls, I loved it. And yes, I know a lot of people disagree, but thats just my opinion. Great game!!!

@uzimakishadow This man, or woman, is smart.
goldw1993 1 year ago
I gotta admit though... one thing this game DID get right was that the graphics and CGI where beautiful! That, and the sound track was one of the best I've ever heard, not just for a sonic game, but ANY game I've ever played.
CapitanKurosaki 1 year ago
most of you probably know but thsi game wasn't exactly finished. the game was gonan be delayed to be finished but then critics got a hold of it and they had to release it like this. so it wasn't sonic team or SEGA fault this game sucks.

I liked the game.

And this review isn't very good, it fails to show the positives, and just bashes the game. This is what you get from "pro" reviewers huh?
NKSPKI 1 year ago
@NKSPKI There are no positives in this game.
goldw1993 1 year ago
@goldw1993 Then you're pretty fucking stupid, played the whole game even though you hated it. The music is good, graphics awesome for the time, and still are, Shadows story was great. You live in denial man...
NKSPKI 1 year ago
@NKSPKI The music is great. The graphics are awful. They may be colorful, but they still are awful. They were decent back then. Shadow's story was completely awful, just like the other two. You live in denial man...
P.S I only finished the game because I don't like quitting on games in the middle of them.

I really liked the game. But I won't defend it, there is alot of problems, but there are just enough of those fun moments for me, to say that this is likeable.

@thebyrdman16 I beat the entire game. I hated every single second of playing this game.
goldw1993 1 year ago
@goldw1993 I don't know what your complaining about, there are other games harder than this. The very first Sonic game is much harder than this and I stand by that statement.
Sabe533 1 year ago
@Sabe533 ...What? This game is easy. Almost too easy. The game is cheap at times due to it's twitchy controls, bad level design, and glitches, but the game is very easy.

@uzimakishadow first of all everything that someone likes is an opinion i like the game and you you dont they are all opinions

NewZen41 1 year ago
@NewZen41
NewZen41 1 year ago
I think this game has a lot of potential. What they need to do is take out the princess from the story and then rework the levels to flow more like Sonic Adventure and the daytime levels for Sonic Colors. With that, this game could be sick. Honestly, I kinda wanna see if Sega can make a good Sonic game also featuring Shadow and Silver.
kdoggjr 1 year ago
this game is not the sonic we all know and love sonic rescuing and flirting with princesses? pfft thats just a mario thing plus sonic didn seem like sonic he was slow and weak his personality was lame i really hope sege have learnt there lesson with this one the only thing i like bout this game is the song in his world and silver but now to me this game does not exist
MegaSlattery 1 year ago
my big problem was sonic ran so slow that takes alot of fun out of the gameplay
