What a wonderful selection. So much better than "Camptown Races" yet again.I would like to think John is watching this and loving it, could he have ever imagined this tune being performed as such? Maybe he did, I would hope so, but it brought back memories of the many fine shows of his I saw.
Thank you! Over the years this calliope has been a source of pride for the University, the late Larry Mac Pherson, and many calliope enthusiasts. Not only does it keep the traveling days of the Reynolds Showboat MAJESTIC alive, but the traditions of the calliope and the circus. I have taken immesurable pride in my little involvement with it.
This is about as in-tune as a steam calliope gets. It's actually a remarkably well-built instrument, the pinnacle of Nichol calliopes. Unfortunately, any recording made that close to the instrument is necessarily distorted.
this really rattles the speakers, sounds nice, but there is nothing like another ledgendary indiana steam whistle,
the Nathan 6 chime of the Nickle Plate 765 ,2 8 4 you know her by her howl through Fort Wayne as she highballs out on an excursion runs.
well they dont high ball through the city it would make too much noise and cause too much pollution, but they have had her up to 80 mph.
I have heard this calliope play during the three rivers parade on tv.

the problem with calliopes, is that they seem to peak out on most camera microphones.

What a rare antique. Not everyone had one of these in their parlor.

Yeah i have to say it sounds good enough to me! Poor reproduction, but pretty well in tune for a Calliope. Wish my university had one!

The calliope is a breath of fresh air in a world of noise that's called music.

sadly, wrongly out of tune, this does a disservice to the meaning of the instrument, sorry to say, but true.

I don't think the instrument is out of tune, I think that is resulting from the poor microphone within whatever camera is recording this.
