  • It's a metaphor, like you will find in most good stories, the way to tell it, is to use symbolism.

  • From what I heard, after the Man in Black died his house was put up for sale. One of the members of the Bee Gees bought it. When the house learned who the new owner was, it committed suicide.

  • You know, at first I thought this was gonna take the piss, but now I see this is just a perfect song for what has happened. And not even in just country, in every god damned genre. The legends die, and the genre dies with them.

  • Brutal. But good singing and guitar picking of Johnny Cash style. Gatlins rock.

  • i saw these guys live a couple years ago and they r pretty good

  • Lawd have mercy!

    What are we gonna do?

  • go to the site and hear about the backround story of the song, it is so so true, Johnny Cash is dead, Waylon, Marty Robbins all the great artists are gone, and the ones we have today??? There are Stars in the way there are Stars today, but Stars like JR, Waylon..... not a chance of seeing some one like them EVER again, IMHO.

The only Superstars that are LEFT are the "old" ones that aren - thankfully - not gone yet, Kris, Willie, Emmylou...and... Larry Gatlin!! God Bless JR Cash

  • @GrandNagusRom Old Hag, too, thank God!

  • WOW what a tune and what a job

  • I just have two words to say about this song: "How True!" Thanks goes to Larry, Rudy, Steve, and company for recording this new gem.

  • we could use more fiddles and steel guitars

  • Young country stars...what are those?

  • I understand what Larry is saying in this song. I like it.

There will never be another Johnny Cash.

  • Heard it in FOX and friends first time. This song is very nice.

  • Love, love, love The Gatlin Brothers. What a great tribute song!

  • I remember when Larry Gatlin was the quarterback of the state championship Odessa High football team. I was a sophomore at Odessa College and my boyfriend would drive me by his house and say "That's where Larry Gatlin lives." His father was in the oil bidness. It was a nice ranch style home that faced a park in West Odessa. I forget the name of the park.

  • 0:54, i agree with that.

  • Great song!

    I miss Johnny too.

  • I just saw the gatlin brothers and larry told us that he was dear friends with johnny and was asked to sing at his wife's funeral and his. Larry wrote this song because johnny had once said that if you think of a song just write it, it doesn't matter if it's a hit, and he did just that to honor him and all of the old country legends

  • Is this a message for Johnny Cash?

  • I miss you Johnny. and to all you people the that are not listen to the song, its morning his death, and saying how old country is best, and it's referring to the house of Cash-type music.

  • Can anyone help me house please? I'm trying to learn how to play this but can't find any teaching videos on it. Appreciate it

  • @Axion3812 it's a I-IV-V pattern in G, and that little guitar melody in the intro is (on the A string) 5 3 5 3 (E string) 5 3. then it moves up to C with the rhythym, then back to G, and then that little walkup to D is (on A string) 0 3 4. then back to G. and when you hit the 5th fret on the E while playin that melody, be sure to bend and release it to nail the feel! nothin' to it, man. hope i helped and didn't confuse!

  • This song is about the passing of an era in music. There are very few people out there to carry the songwriting flag. In fact I believe the riff that they are using are some original Tennessee Three compositions.

  • I just love this tune...always did like Larry Gatlin.

  • who ever wrote this song, payed for and performed this rotting piece of mollested dog shit should be shot!!!!

  • Larry was actually married to one of Johnny's daughters - which one?

  • No, Larry was never married to one of Johnny Cash's daughers. Marty Stuart was married to Johnny's daughter Cindy In 1983 and they divorced 5 years later. Marty is now married to country legend Connie Smith.

I love Larry Gatlim & The Gatlin Brothers and Johnny Cash. This is a tribute to Johnny Cash and great country music and anyone who knows what can see that.

  • okay, even if these people like johnny cash and are trying to tribute him, its really disrespectful, not to mention the song is terrible, they didnt even write original music....they are fools..

  • this is actually the worst song, video, lyrics, singing i have ever seen from a group. not to mention how disrespectful it is.

  • @vickers49 Disrespectful? Actually listen to the Lyircs Its Praiseing Johnny Cash.

  • IDIOT..

  • this is dumd

  • Lame shitheads trying to beat the man in black!!!

  • man are you crazy or something?

  • what was that

  • well this really sucks

  • It was nice hanging out with ya on Super Bowl Sunday. Great Video Larry!

  • I thought it was ironic that Larry mentions that he could use more fiddles and steel guitar but yet neither was used in this song!

  • true but they were trying to play and give the "johnny cash " sound. For MrMafiaReaper it is a combination of several of his songs.

  • yiuigh;khg;ihgijbei;gpuhieuhghhhhhhhgirfuhgiuehrgkjhfg;jhfdu;ghruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhfhfldlfdhflkjhlkjhgfkjhfgjhfgjhiurghuirtyruynfvfnbvyhdgfisgdfuygsuhdfgyethreghfgh;hrgi;rguihgipureguijgldjihguirehgiugri;prheguire;guihreuigruieguireguirgurijhggjjjfigjgnfkgkgjfjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjkfhkljfgbmnbvnbvcnjlgfhuihufyifjguiyrtyewaruiewr;

  • i like

  • The music they was playing sounded like a song form johnny cash which was it?

  • @MrMafiaReaper The music was from his early hit "Big River" and johnny is credited as a co -writer for that.

  • @kewlguyjim Thankyou

  • ??????????????????

  • Big River

  • Big River

  • I honestly think Johnny Cash would like this song

  • to finish L.G. & Co ---a period of messed up cars, hair, appliance colors-- any of you guys familiar with the J.C. Song" Delia's Gone" and for you smarties who do do you know when it was first put on wax?-go listen to it( 1962 The sound of Johnny Cash) and never ever EVER try to predict a JC attitude or try to evaluate his world view too closely. some narcissistic fan was blowing himself over his special insights---"MEADOW MUFFINS!! - remember what K.K.s quintessential quote was! saddest thing

  • ok im ready to play whos the biggest JR CASH fan- I weigh 175 lbs, if you are heavier then you are ,unless you go by height im 6'0". That area burned up a few people Roy Orbison lived next door,he was not going to sell the land after this fire took fam mems from Roy, L.P did die --smoking in bed-that sucks. . I can not think of one ,1,uno,eine,-- cash song that has fiddles and a steel guit!?in fact only The O.P.P. song has violins,j.carter "signed off" why wasnt M.H. playing bass on FUFOX

  • CASH WILL LIVE FOREVER INSIDE ME

  • Luther Perkins died in a house fire.

  • Really like this song. Definitely adding to our favourites. Loved the video style too.

    Cheers,

    JCRS

  • to all your refrobates that think that Cash would have not approved of this song, i give the bird. Its a song about the way things are, and thats what he was all about.

  • uhhhh I think you meant reProbates

  • My mom hates this song so much! I love it!

  • For those offended by this song, Johnny actually signed off on this song, with Larry, and Johnny wrote the tune.

Glad to have the Gatlins back

  • Those of you who are offended by this song: Larry Gatlin was very close friends to Johnny Cash, and named one of his sons after him. This is a tribute song to him, and also a song that represents passing the torch to younger singers. The Gatlin brothers had 33 top 40 hits....ain't nothing to make fun of there. You go boys!!! Glad to have you back !!!

  • maelynnb, you need to listen to the song a bit more... its not making fun of cash... its sayin that the old style country music died with johnny cash and they miss it!

  • Amen, country music isn't country music anymore.

  • man thats messed up cuz that dude couldnt hold a candle to johnny cash and i dont care if he new him or not he should not have wrote this song and thats all im gonna say

  • i think its great jc would like it

  • Actually these guys where good friends with johnny cash and his son so I think that they wouldn't have made this if it was disrespectful

  • I dont like this... I know il probably get givin out to by ya'll but i dont think this song shows much respect for johnny at all... i dont care what he SAYS it means to him... i think its disrespectful

and if johnny WAS looking down and smiling... then its just because he's too kind hearted.

  • While I agree with the sentiment, I think this song sucks. It's overproduced Nashville cheese, written and played by some of the originators of Nashville cheese. And that ripped-off Luther Perkins lick repeated ad nauseum... Pee-U! I don't think JC would buy this pop.

  • davidmires you're an idiot. Johnny Cash would be proud!!

  • this is great song and great tribute to bygone era.

  • i love this song

  • Good job guys, great sound,

  • You die first!!!

  • Has your language always been inappropriate? You wouldn't recognize real country music, if it smacked you in your brainless head!!!

  • i wish i could have met him

  • jonny cash is a great singer it sucks he is dead

  • I absolutely love this song its about time to have some new gatlin brothers music. This a true tribute to Johnny Cash

  • So true. I saw this for the first time on Crook and Chase, and I so got what he was saying.

  • yeah, johnny cash and gatlin were friends

  • @FastforwardTheRewind i agree. early on in his career, larry slept on johnny's floor in nashville until his/larry's big break came. johnny helped larry greatly in the early stages of the gatlin's career. larry has always been respectful of johnny.

  • @johnrunion Yes Larry and The Gatlin Brothers have nothing but respect for Johnny Cash, and if you can't see that, then I don't know what else to say, but listen to the lyrics.

Their is a video where John Carter Cash, son of Johnny and June and Larry are talking about this, and he said that his father would have loved it and he did too.

  • @FastforwardTheRewind It's a sincere form of flattery.. Johnny Cash was a different kind of hero, a real idle. Except for the drugs and other stuff. People don't listen to him for that, but it was real. Honest, true things that happened. And he sang about the truths in the world, the honest situations, not the sugar-coated ones. Wore the black for the poor and broken down =)

  • this song is so catchy (and i don't even really like country music)

  • the gatlin brothers wrote this song.

  • Hey Larry!! You say you could use more fiddles and steel guitars and yet neither appear in this tune.

  • HAHA!

    Good call man

  • A rather shall we say "unorthadox" tribute song to say the least...

    But the best lines are

"I got nothin' against the young country stars but I could use more fiddles and steel guitars"

    So true...

  • who wrote this song??

  • This is most definetly a Tribute song! The name of the CD and concept for the album of work is "Pilgrimage" (as in looking back thru the ages of country music and it's biggest influences.)

The Song "Johnny Cash is Dead and his house burned down" is co-written by Johnny Cash and Larry Gaitlan... Just saw the song writers on GAC Video 5 minutes ago... Very Cool Song! Peace (2-fingers)

  • yeah and i liked them when i was a little girl and they sing this song good and i got this song stuck in my head its a very catchy tune

  • See this song "live" on my page. Great version!

  • Great song. See it "Live" on my page.

    God bless,

    randytravisfan23

  • Before i figured out this song was written by johnny cash i hated these people, it was almost like they were laughing about it

  • Amazing. Johnny Cash will live forever though his music, and the influence that he had on singers. I know he was one of mine.

  • ppls one of johnny cash's children co wrote this song my mom says it might be rosanne cause she writes a lot of tribute songs for her father.

  • Glad to see these classic groups/artists coming out of the shadows to get some new stuff out there... About time!

  • Rock and ROll use to give out Johny Cash he was up there with Elvis as a rock legend and he was the greatest Country Legend ever to live he makes Hank Willams Jr look like shit nothing aginst Jr im a big fan but seirously

  • I love this song!

  • Evidently some of you guys dont know country, Gaitlin bros have been around for years with many big hits, this song is great there not making fun of him, this is much respect to him listen too the sound

  • u dirty little bitches, Johnny Cash is twice as good as you noobs will ever be

  • Are you serious, you know this song is a trubute to great dead country singers, right?

  • what the hell is the matter with people fucking dumb asses

  • Wow, this is pretty sick... I'm not talking about it being a good video, because it sucks!

  • I agree.

  • Why isn't this played on the radio?? Great song and I loove the Gatlins!!!

  • Thanks for sharing that, good timeing

  • Just saw em on Gov. Mike Huckabee and they did this song, so I had to look it up.

It's very easy to pick on the bass, which I just got done doing.

I will have the Huckabee video sometime tonight.
