  • This is great! How much would it cost me to get one a those? I play Mandolin because my hands are to small for guitar, but switching over to this would be a sure thing!

  • Looks like this has been here for over two years -- but i just saw it for the first time. Whipped out my bouzouki and started practicing rhythm right along with it, a bunch of times, first using double stop rhythms on the G/D courses, then on the D/A courses, then on the A/E courses. Doing that sure sharpens your automatic-type accompaninment... Thanks for posting, you have great timing and it was a pleasure to play along with you! --Scott

  • BRAVO! Astounding playing man!

  • this is the first video of you playing your octave mandolin

it would be so awsome if you played a double neck with a mandolin neck and a octave mandolin neck

  • that octave mando sure has a great tone. well done!

  • is that standard GDAE tuning? and your playing is amazing! i think i need to save up for one of those Kimble octave mando's they are beautiful.

  • Jim, who built your Octave Mando? Nice job by the way1

  • Bravo, great. -Ron

  • Very nice.

  • Isn't the octave mandolin called a Mandocello too? I have been thinking of getting one, but my budget cringes at the thought. Regardless, wonderful tone out of that piece.

  • There is a difference. For one the tuning. An octave mandolin's tuned G D A E (As a mandolin, just 1 octave lower), a mando-cello is normally tuned C G D A. But with many mandocellos it's possible to tune them as an octave mandolin.

  • Thanks man!

  • No problem, mate! Just happy that i could help.

  • Nice one Jim,I always liked this tune.

  • Have been waiting for more mandolin playing from you. That thing is cool!

  • That mando sounds great, no doubt because it's in your hands... 5*!

  • That octave mandolin has suck a sweet voice. Your excellent playing made it sound like a fabled siren.

  • Sweet playing, Jim. The octave really favors one I saw Compton playing in Asheville. It was a hoss. Kimbles does some good stuff, without a doubt.

  • It is the one Compton had. Will made two for Mike; this is the second (the one he played the longest).

  • well played - really good rendition - complimenti for your newest acquisition!

  • Octave mandolin!? That thing is sweet. Nice playin, too.
