Have you been to mexico city? it is a nicer place than most american towns. And people in Mexico are a lot more happier than in the USA. Only the very poor move to the USA. @carsiotto There is little evidence of a migration of Nahua peoples being in the areas you claim. If they did, they did not stay very long and Aztlan, if it existed at all, is more likely to be in Northern Mexico. Native American tribes - including the Shoshone, Ute, Hopi, Navajo, and Apache are found in that area, and do not speak anything remotely like Nahuatl. The only reason those areas were a part of Mexico is because of Spanish colonization efforts. Mexico inherited it post-independance.

@carsiotto You are confusing the issue. The Triple Alliance of the Aztec people lasted about 93 years, but the city states that founded them are far, far older than that. The Mexicas arrived at Chapultepec in or around the year 1248. That's about 272 years. So if you want to pull the pre-U.S. history into this, then it is only fair to add in the pre Triple Alliance dates into it. The Toltecs, whom the Aztec people greatly admired and too much culture from go even further back to 800-1000 CE.

The fact is, if you'd studied history, there is no way that the Spanish could have taken over, if it had not been for the support and help of the people who'd been oppressed by the Aztec. But if you know anything, whether you like it or not, meso-american groups were the foundations to ALL native american groups on this continent. Just look at the agriculture. That mostly all originated in meso-america. The Mexica may have been hated, for good reason, but its obvious you havent read anything about them. There is little or no proof of a meso-american occupation within the borders of the current day U.S.. It is a lie, just like Hitler's claims about the German nordic white peoples being some kind of offshoot of a mythical Aryans. There is no historical or anthropological evidence for it. The most you can claim is that some mesos came up and traded with natives in those regions. But that's it.

Mexico has the largest group of native speakers in all the continent. Even though its mixed, most are primarly of indigenous descent and culture. Not like Natives in the US that have very little say in modern society, Mexicans, although struggling have survived. Dont be so ignorant. You should inform yourself.

@carsiotto There is little evidence of a migration of Nahua peoples being in the areas you claim. If they did, they did not stay very long and Aztlan, if it existed at all, is more likely to be in Northern Mexico. Native American tribes - including the Shoshone, Ute, Hopi, Navajo, and Apache are found in that area, and do not speak anything remotely like Nahuatl. The only reason those areas were a part of Mexico is because of Spanish colonization efforts. Mexico inherited it post-independance.

Secondly there are many languages that are based from the UTo-aztecan language from peoples based in the southwest. This is well documented. Even the nahuatl people orginated from southwest US and northern Mexico. Im not saying that before the euro invasion, there existed a state called aztlan. I know that it was the spaniards that created northern territories.

But what you don't mention is the fact that the Spanish themselves are the ones who eventually started to put an end to it around 1789, when the state became concerned for the people's welfare, though it was not completely abolished until Napoleon's regin in the early 1800s. But tell me, would the Aztecs have put an end to their sacrificing humans on their own? Would the Toltecs?

Over 500,000 dead to end it. When did the Aztecs or Toltecs fight a big civil war to end their evils? Answer: Never. They did't change until the Spaniards came and made them.

Secondly, as a colony that benefited from slavery, the US colony had slavery since the 1600's. So thats at least 200years.Thirdly the Mexica did fight tyrants, like Tezozomoc. Fourthly, if you know anything about the spanish conquest you would know that they enslaved the natives and when they died off, they brought africans.

@carsiotto You are confusing the issue. The Triple Alliance of the Aztec people lasted about 93 years, but the city states that founded them are far, far older than that. The Mexicas arrived at Chapultepec in or around the year 1248. That's about 272 years. So if you want to pull the pre-U.S. history into this, then it is only fair to add in the pre Triple Alliance dates into it. The Toltecs, whom the Aztec people greatly admired and too much culture from go even further back to 800-1000 CE.
