@typascool Anything above an American size 8-10 pants or a medium shirt is difficult to come by. But it also depends on where you are in Korea, Seoul is more accustomed to foreigners and has a larger selection, but most other cities do not.

Culture shock maily comes from having certain, often unknowningly, expectations on how people should behave. If you go somewhere expecting things, you are bound to be dissapointed. If you go there without expectations, while you may still be surprised by some things, it won't have such an emotional impact.
the korean alphabet is SUPER easy to learn. it's called the "morning alphabet" because you can literally learn it in one morning. HOWEVER...speaking korean is a whole other beast. speaking will take years. immersing yourself in it by living there does help, of course, but don't expect to pick it up in a year. just build your vocab asmuch as possible. learn 3 words a day. sentence structure and grammar is the most difficult since it's unlike english.
I have been learning Korean for a year and a half now. It's a wonderful language, and Korea has a wonderfully rich culture. Its people are warm-hearted, and Koreans are really good persons. they love meeting foreigners who actually have an interest in their language and culture. I'm going in June, and I can't wait to get there.

first of all, i just want to say, thank you SOOOO much for this video. i cant speak 4 anyone else, but it was really helpful to me. a few months ago, i was introduced to kpop by a friend, and as i started really loving the music, i became more and more interested in the culture. i don't know if i want to make a permanent job out of working in korea, or anything, but i really would love to visit, and this video helped kind of explain what it will be like, so again, kamsahamnida :)

Culture shock maily comes from having certain, often unknowningly, expectations on how people should behave. If you go somewhere expecting things, you are bound to be dissapointed. If you go there without expectations, while you may still be surprised by some things, it won't have such an emotional impact.

the korean alphabet is SUPER easy to learn. it's called the "morning alphabet" because you can literally learn it in one morning. HOWEVER...speaking korean is a whole other beast. speaking will take years. immersing yourself in it by living there does help, of course, but don't expect to pick it up in a year. just build your vocab asmuch as possible. learn 3 words a day. sentence structure and grammar is the most difficult since it's unlike english.

I have been learning Korean for a year and a half now. It's a wonderful language, and Korea has a wonderfully rich culture. Its people are warm-hearted, and Koreans are really good persons. they love meeting foreigners who actually have an interest in their language and culture. I'm going in June, and I can't wait to get there.

first of all, i just want to say, thank you SOOOO much for this video. i cant speak 4 anyone else, but it was really helpful to me. a few months ago, i was introduced to kpop by a friend, and as i started really loving the music, i became more and more interested in the culture. i don't know if i want to make a permanent job out of working in korea, or anything, but i really would love to visit, and this video helped kind of explain what it will be like, so again, kamsahamnida :)

I'm not quite sure what "culture shock" is but if you go to Korea, Koreans are more than willing to converse with foreigners. Where as growing up in a part of America where there weren't alot of asians ppl really didn't want to talk to me or get to know me because they saw me as the "asian" with small eyes that looked "nerdy" but its sal good. All the more to prove them wrong.
