You don't know whether this elephant was inside to separate it from the others -- there have been problems with one agressive male. You don't know how long the elephant was in here or anything. Before you shout abuse you should know more about what's going on. And since they just opened what is perhaps the best elephant facility in the world, I think that you should do some research before making the instant judgement of "this is how they treat elephants..." etc.

No, this is not the most animal-friendly zoo in the world. The whole elephanthouse smelled poo and the cages were small like this, all the elephants were sepatated from each other and they had chains around their ankles. The outside area for the elephants was extremely small for such grand animals. Just go to Kolmården zoo in Sweden and you'll see a big difference.

It doesn't take much to see that these animals are suffering!

My problem is that I suffer with those poor animals. It is NOT natural for an elephant to be locked up in a small cage with a chain around it's ankle. Go to Africa if you want to check that.

elephants and others like it does not belong in captivity. Zoo's are a black part of human history. Modernize the society and close them all and look at the animals in their natural enviorment. Zoo's and circuses makes me furious.

They are building a new elephant house that are going to be much bigger and better.I was at the zoo two months ago and then they was working on the new elephant house.I think there are videos about the new elephant house here at youtube.

it´s a male elephant and while the other male is outside this one has to be inside, then they switch..it´s not cruel, because they have to do that.

I understand that they might have to separate them. But that elephant house was no good environment for anyone, and very unnatural for an elephant. At such a big zoo they should have more than one pasture land. And the pasture land they had was more like a small sandy cage anyways.
