Do you happen to know if he was using any ink reducers or stretch additives? I have to use about 10 percent stretch additive before this particular ink even becomes malleable. Thanks
@penguininatux No he did not use any reducers. If you have the Ryonet Ryopaque white and it is like plaster of Paris then you need to call them up and get a replacement. It should not be that thick. I think there was some of that ink that went out his past summer that was too thick due to excessive heat. Just give them a call and ask about it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
hey guys ( Jonathan & Ryan).. you two are my favorite instructors about screen printing...you both are in my subscriptions.. nice to see you together in this video...
@activate43 Thanks much! I’m hoping to work more with Ryan now that he has worked with me to add Ryonet to the Print Supplies page of the Catspit website. Now you can get a 6% discount on supplies and a 40% discount on classes or DVD’s when you use the appropriate Catspit code at checkout every day! Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@TheMURCIELAGA666 Whichever one you like best; I have to refrain from recommending products in this case because it really is printer specific. Each printer will recommend whatever ink they are using or have been using. In the end, any high quality, high opacity white ink should do the trick. I have used and liked the following inks: Wilflex, Union, Triangle and Excalibur. Thanks for watching & commenting!
@EnassiClothing LOL, I’m thinking I must be Holden because I never heard of them..Haha. But really it is no competition. Ryonet is huge and has a lot of money to spend on marketing. I am more of a grass roots effort to build educational screen printing resources available free of charge. I currently do not spend any money on advertisement. Also, education is my priority, not equipment sales. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@pukingdeserthobo I’m not sure yet. I won’t know until close to show time. I’m sure I’ll make an announcement on the Catspit Blog about it if I decide to go. Thanks for commenting and watching!
hi pointboardriders what brand of discharge white do you use? and what is the secret to producing it sooo white? what temp do you run the dryer? and how long does it need to be in the dryer?
@pointboardriders Discharge printing is great for a soft hand effect; definitely a good method for those who are willing to work with the harsh chemicals and odors. Perhaps the discharge inks of today are not so stinky. I remember doing discharge printing some time ago and it was pretty nasty stuff. But it did produce a great print. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well, you may not necessarily need high tension screens to get some good detail but in general the higher the tension the better the stencil. And a high tension, high mesh count screen with a thinner direct emulsion stencil will produce better detail easier. In this video, high tension and a slightly thicker stencil aides in getting good ink coverage. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@StephanieIAm - Yea, really cool print with high tension roller frames. The good stuff! I liked the design too. Id say it was a perfect design for a Catspit Productions video! LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@XxnoitcelferxX - Yes, that is true. He was very friendly, very nice and very cool to make this video for us. I had a lot of fun making the video. Thanks for watching and making a comment!
