  • RIP Art :(

  • Stevie is a cutie.

  • I DIDN'T GET IT!!

  • ...?

  • thumbs up if your watching this in 1958

  • It may have been unrehearsed, but it certainly wasn't unscripted. Some of the answers are genuine, but many of them were told what to say.

  • they talked different back then. i like it

  • man, watching this makes me realise how badly we have gone to shit these days. I mean, look at these kids. They are smart, they know how to hold a conversation at SIX years old! My mother is a teacher and the kids are 7-8 year olds and they eat the crayons and glue!

  • @NorthWeezy2010 hahaha crayon and glue at 7 eh

  • @NorthWeezy2010 I agree that we have gone downhill since the 50's and 60's but I need to tell you that even back then the kids ate crayons and paste (the 1960's classroom version of glue : )

  • It's hard for people to accept that times and people generally had more class back then.

  • @valmikecal1 SO UNBELIEVABLY TRUE.

  • Unrehearsed and unpredictable...yep.

  • something flat like an alligator! XD

  • Susan keeps smiling about losing her dog. I think she killed the dog.

  • the second girl is so cute, and shes smiling all the tie like he doesnt give a fuck

  • Still looking for the one where he asks the 6 year old who he looks more like... his father or mother. The youngster pursed his lips, thought about it and then replied "I think I look more like the Milkman". Art was speechless after that.

  • typical jobs

  • awwwwe!

  • this is from when racism was going on i beleive

  • @mauriceoops So for all we know it could've been fimed yesterday

  • I love how well-spoken children were in the olden days!

  • i wish America was still like this :(

  • @KjWa13 You wish America was one sided and where racism was blatant?

  • @Kelz06081984 i meant i wish it was still simple not stupid fucking reality tv shows and stupid shit like that just simple. didnt mean any racism sorry for the confusion

  • @KjWa13 lol, no harm done love! I agree with you. Pure crap on tv these days and don't get me started on the music!

  • @Kelz06081984 haha ok good i didnt want to send the wrong message there! but i totally agree with you on that one!

  • I miss Americas old Accent

  • @redrosecross i know right! wow. even accents evolve.

  • I would like to see kids talk on this show today, it would be pathetic!!

  • I have to say that kids are much funnier these days! Back then they had to be way too prim and proper. They have so much more freedom now. The kids are cute though.

  • OH its a normal age..

  • that one little girl on the bottom right looks like shes crying in the intro..that was a cute video thanks for posting it :)

  • @007dawn excuse me I'm 10 years old and I'm not loaded with drugs

  • @18Woogy yeah but you're on youtube...

  • There was no perparation as some one here are trying to say...what it is is the children are intelligent and are being educated and they are not loaded with drugs like todays children.

  • THATS A COOL VIDEO

  • I remember watching this show when I was a kid, once Art ask a kid what does your father do,the kid answered i don't know but it has something to do with light bulbs and toilet paper because that is what he brings home in his lunch pail.

  • These were likely show biz (wanabee) kids. The parents would likely prepare them before visiting the studio.

  • Norman's father is Norman Phillips, Jr. Gotta love IMDb!

  • OMG! The exploitation of children is so horrible!!!

    ...And I like it! :)

  • how old is this video? not when it was uploaded but when it was recorded?

  • @Onishi2233 It would had been in the 1950's most likely around 54.

  • Hmm, I wonder who Norman's father was.

  • @UofLCardFan08 Nevermind, I found out he was Norman Phillips, Jr. :-)

  • I cannot help but to think that Nixon and Ford and General Motors would have these kids go trough the green machine and lay their lives and limbs and gonads and their sanity in Viet-Nam.

  • 93,900!

  • What year is this from?

  • This was a great show.

  • I love how they say "oh" in front of every sentence :)

  • @kielymarie79 dont forget "well...."

  • @SSgtParmer You're an idiot

  • @Tlyvere I second that! Sometimes it's possible the brain never GETS developed lol

  • I wonder if susie Q ever found her dog?

  • They are so crapping cute. I love seeing older people as children. It's amazing that they're grandparents now.

  • now I understand why old people talk like this.

  • my how time has changed

  • This was a filmed syndicated version (during the early '50s) of Art's daily "Kids Say the Darndest Things" segment on "HOUSE PARTY"....these interviews were filmed especially for this quarter-hour program.

  • i think the Bill cosby version was kind of, how we say at summer camp "ina-pro-pro!" lol, this is so funny, that i am confident enough to tell everyone how funny it is BEFORE i watch it!!!

  • I was on in August 1966. Still have the vinyl LP recording of the show.

  • what a great premise for a tv show, reality tv at its best

  • R.I.P Art, you're awesome. I hope God's using you as his funnyman.

  • AIR FORCE!!!! GOOO STEVIE!!!!!!

  • these were the good old days. back when children could be exploited with out everybody getting all bent out of shape about it.

  • hahahha i like the norman! he was quite funny

  • no wonder we have so many sluts these days

  • R.I.P. Art

  • RIP, Art

  • stevies a beast

  • Art Linkletter gave me so much joy and (with the kids) so much laughter when I was a boy watching his shows in the summer. Such a warm-hearted man, and he was so natural with the kids! I remember reading a book based on his interviews with the kids. Sadly, because he wasn't glitzy enough, he probably wouldn't have found a place on TV today. Bless your heart, Mr. Linkletter, and Rest in Much Peace.

  • @WSenator1 I also have three of Mr. Linkletter's books. House Party was a daytime fixture for so many years.

A lot of baby boomers feel today like they have lost the last man from the heighboorhood

where they grew up Because, he was like a heighbor. We enjoyed inviting him into our homes. He was professional & business like, but could talk one on one

with the kids in the house. He will be greatly missed.

  • @Mr76Yearsago - Very eloquent words.

  • R.I.P. Mr. Linkletter, we loved you well

    Art Linkletter 07.17.1912---05.26.2010

  • @MsSphinx2 srsly he died last month?

  • Art Linkletter was a total class act. He will be missed!

  • I'm now combing the internet, trying to figure out who Norman's father was, lol

  • @goldenchick85 find anything?

  • Do you know what a Politician is? Yes something flat like an alligator.

    HE"S VERY SMART!

  • Rest in peace Mr, Linkletter. You were the best. Thanks for all the laughs. And for teaching us if you want a honest answer ask a child. SO TRUE! Peace

  • RIP Mr. Linkletter---thank you for the laughs.

  • I think most every baby boomer feels they have lost the last man in the neighborhood where they grew up. We all gladly invited Art Linkletter into our homes for years because he was like the man down the street..Professional, business like, but could sit down and talk one-on-one with the kids I am so disappointed he did not see his 100th birthday, but may he R.i.P.

  • Art Linkletter was America's "everyman" .That is why his shows were so sucessful and long running. Even thirty years after his television career ending he was still a much sought after speaker on the business lecture circuit in his eighties.

We have all lost a friend and neighbor.

  • R.I.P. Art

  • Rest in peace Art

  • What a fantastic man Art was! Thank you for bringing such joy to our lives! My condolences to the family... 97 years old!! See, kids will keep you young!

  • R.I.P., Art. Thanks for great TV!

  • Art Linkletter, May he RIP. I remember watching him on TV in the afternoons in the early 60's. This was before I started going to school and we only got one channel, CBS KOLN 10.

  • The world lost a true pioneer and legend in the broadcast industry today... May he Rest in Peace...

  • When is it from?

  • "something flat like an alligator" lol

  • Aw. these kids are so adorable.

  • 16 is a normal age to get married, wow i shoudl get crackin then im already there lol

  • How Great!!!!

  • This program was shown on my local ABC affiliate in the 5:30 PM time slot in 1961-62 prior to the then 15 minute network news. I was thrilled to see this Linkletter show again because (that year) it marked the transition from kids TV to adult as my parents insisted on watching this prior to dinner. Thanks a lot for posting this video. (And I hope Mr. Linkletter has his 100th birthday)

  • @Mr76Yearsago - Unfortuantely, as you know by now (May 27, 2010), he didn't quite make that hundredth, but I enjoyed him as much as you probably did. BTW, where I grew up, "House Party" Mr. Linkletter's show, was on from 2:30 to 3:00 on our CBS station.

  • Stevie was a real looker!! cute!!

  • love this so much

  • Oh my, Art Linkletter and the kids...

My mother would love to see this show again. ;D
