Merci pour votre commentaire élogieux.Avez vous écouté la suite de ces variations avec ces deux artistes?Cziffra nous fascine par ses nuances et par la beauté de son interprétation .Quelle humilité et quelle classe se dégagent en saluant son public,en remerciant chaleureusement l'orchestre .Mon regret,ne pas avoir vécu cet instant magique en direct!

This is the sort of thing that makes youtube a good thing. It's too bad it gets mucked up with so much other garbage. As someone who has to conduct this presently it is a wonderful resource for finding great standard works and some obscure ones as well. Yes, it is very poetic playing... unhurried and well-paced. A pleasure to hear this kind of playing. Very tragic story about Cziffra and his boy.

this is lovely playing - gentle and poetic a quality Cziffra isn't always associated with. his son (cziffra jr conducting) was to die in a house fire in 1981. very moving to see them working together. after his sons death Cziffra never performed with orchestra again.

I didn't know that story, how very sad. I agree with you, we don't hear this side of Cziffra very often, but his playing is very subtle, lyrical and expressive, tasteful and moving. You can hear a lot of Liszt influences in Franck btw. There is one violinist in the orchestra who looks and plays like a zombie.

@pianopera je suis tombée par hasard sur cette video et ai reconnu une des dernières retransmissions que j'ai faites pour la télévision française. Cziffra était déjà très fatigué et n'a pas pu donner de bis, mais il s'est révélé un homme adorable
