I was just in a wreck a week ago. I was wearing a helmet and road armor but I still broke my back,wrist,sternum,and ankle. The doctor said if not for the protective gear I would be dead or paralyzed. There's plenty of studies that support this. We all know when we get on that bike that we are at a much higher risk than every car driver on the road. He chose to ignore those facts and he got hit. @Arayanrevenge In the US .08 is allowed and you can drive after a glass or wine or a beer...it is not illegal. In many european countries you cannot drink and drive at all. Meaning zero liquor in your system you must take a taxi or have a sober driver.

However, this accident was caused by someone drinking alot and the other for being reckless. In places like Sweden it is against the law to even take a sip of wine and drive a car. In the US if you pass a breath test or blood test they cannot arrest you unless there are other factors involved. I believe the man who was arrested made a plea agreement.

This is an example of how the statistics for DUI accidents are skewed. The driver of the Mustang was intoxicated but not the cause of the accident. The NHTSA stats will show this as an alcohol related fatal accident. Misleading because you would believe that the accident was caused by the drinking driver.

The impact didn't hurt him but of the 5 people in the car 4 died and the 3 yr old had to have his arms amputated because of burn infections. He was tried and convicted and sent to prison. And the people in the car, not really relevant, were in this country illegally. BTW, the 24 yr old, had no convictions and his toxicology was clean.

Wear a helmet I live in Cali where you are required to on a motor vehicle. But even on my bicycles I wear a helmet because I have been hit by cars and I can get going up to 40mph. I had an accident as a passenger in a goldwing, I almost lost my feet, fortunately doctors preform miracles and I have awfull scars and walk with a limp, but I have my feet! We were run over by a vehicle, the woman was texting, and never saw us, she tried to get away and just pulled me somebody put there car in front of her and made her stop! I was wearing a helmet and jacket which both saved my life, even thought I have broken ribs and clavicle! I should have worn also the proper boths & pants.

I seen a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago on a main street where I stay at. It was during rush hour, and he tried swerving through traffic to get home faster and he ran into a tow truck. It was crazy. The way it looked when he hit the tow truck is like he was trying to do a Stoppy and it threw him onto the back of the tow truck. He landed on his back but was unconscious. Everybody in both lanes turned their cars off. And each side had three lanes. Busiest traffic jam ever!

I honestly don't understand the whole idea that helmets make you look stupid. I personally think they look awesome, and would never get on my bike without gear. Im a rider as well and being in Connecticut is driving me nuts because motorcyclist's never have there helmets on. I say to myself why the hell would you not wear a helmet. We all know the roads are a dangerous place, whether on a bike or in a car. When its time to die, its going to happen without your permission most often. That doesn't mean that you take irresponsible idiotic chances, like pullin wheelies on a rocket at night, crossing lines, and with no helmet. Pro riders are no pussies, What would a pro say about wearing a helmet? I say people who dont wear helmets have a major perception problem. Live free, but live to enjoy the ride.

I was just in a wreck a week ago. I was wearing a helmet and road armor but I still broke my back,wrist,sternum,and ankle. The doctor said if not for the protective gear I would be dead or paralyzed. As for the cocksucker above no rider deserves to die for not wearing a helmet or speeding. What about the guy drinking? Both have unavoidable consequences when things go wrong from very poor decisions. @huggaz Not wearing a helmet is completely moronic. Regardless whether he fell, or was struck by a driver (drunk or sober) a helmet could've saved his life. That's fact. There's plenty of studies that support this. We all know when we get on that bike that we are at a much higher risk than every car driver on the road. He chose to ignore those facts and he got hit. Whether it was his fault or not he's dead (most likely) because he wasn't wearing a helmet (or other gear).

it's really somtehing we don't understand, seen from europe (France, germany) where most bikers are concerned by their safety, i do wear helmet, gloves, boots, leather jacket and protected jeans... i love to ride, so i don't want to die or get injured... protect myself is a little something that can help. @Arayanrevenge In the US .08 is allowed and you can drive after a glass or wine or a beer...it is not illegal. In many european countries you cannot drink and drive at all. Meaning zero liquor in your system you must take a taxi or have a sober driver.

However, this accident was caused by someone drinking alot and the other for being reckless. In places like Sweden it is against the law to even take a sip of wine and drive a car. In the US if you pass a breath test or blood test they cannot arrest you unless there are other factors involved. I believe the man who was arrested made a plea agreement.

This is an example of how the statistics for DUI accidents are skewed. The driver of the Mustang was intoxicated but not the cause of the accident. The NHTSA stats will show this as an alcohol related fatal accident. Misleading because you would believe that the accident was caused by the drinking driver.

The impact didn't hurt him but of the 5 people in the car 4 died and the 3 yr old had to have his arms amputated because of burn infections. He was tried and convicted and sent to prison. And the people in the car, not really relevant, were in this country illegally. BTW, the 24 yr old, had no convictions and his toxicology was clean.

Wear a helmet I live in Cali where you are required to on a motor vehicle. But even on my bicycles I wear a helmet because I have been hit by cars and I can get going up to 40mph. On a motorcycle your crazy if you don't wear one. Personally I think the more gear the better spine protector full leathers anything you can get. My friend totaled his bike on the track in a turn at 80 and only got a sprained ankle. the whole face of his helmet had road burn down the front just sayin...

I had an accident as a passenger in a goldwing, I almost lost my feet, fortunately doctors preform miracles and I have awfull scars and walk with a limp, but I have my feet! We were run over by a vehicle, the woman was texting, and never saw us, she tried to get away and just pulled me somebody put there car in front of her and made her stop! I was wearing a helmet and jacket which both saved my life, even thought I have broken ribs and clavicle! I should have worn also the proper boths & pants.

I seen a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago on a main street where I stay at. It was during rush hour, and he tried swerving through traffic to get home faster and he ran into a tow truck. It was crazy. The way it looked when he hit the tow truck is like he was trying to do a Stoppy and it threw him onto the back of the tow truck. He landed on his back but was unconscious. Everybody in both lanes turned their cars off. And each side had three lanes. Busiest traffic jam ever!

@Knightphoenix1 a friend dof mine that was like a brother died a few years ago on his yzf-600r... a truck pulled ou tin front of em. he was doing around 100 (which is his fault) but the lady never slowed down at all... it's sad to lose some one in an accident.

This is why there is a time and place for such things. Riding out a wheelie on the roadway may be fun, but thats not the place for it. I feel for his family, but not for his actions. Although buddy was drunk in the mustang, probably wouldn`t have happened had he stayed in his own lane.

i don't know if the average non bike rider knows this, but EVERYONE WILL WRECK THEIR BIKE EVENTUALLY. it just will happen. my first bike was a gsxr 600 and i dropped it going about 65 with oncoming traffic. if didn't have my helmet and jacket on, i probably would've been dead, i slammed my head so hard i still gotta concussion with my helmet on. i still ride, i have another gixer. so please, WEAR YOUR GEAR GUYS.

I agree, he didn't deserve to die. I also believe that the rider knew the consequences of not wearing a helmet, especially while tricking. I honestly don't understand the whole idea that helmets make you look stupid. I personally think they look awesome, and would never get on my bike without gear. As my mom always tells me, it doesn't matter how safely you drive, its everyone else on the roads you need to worry about. Still sad to see another biker go. I feel for his family.

@Gilaskoram i give you a thumbs up.. cuz i agree... you maybe the safest driver out there... but those around you aren't. and i know in atlanta, traffic gets pretty crazy. and in VA hampton roads, there are times that i wont ride because of the amount of tard with a license around hre... also... i've seen some sick helmets out there... not to wear one isn't very smart imo.
