The Swat Valley has been under Sharia Law since the 1920s, when the British were there; so this is nothing new. In fact, as this deal involves a secular gov't, the Sharia Law imposed now will possibly be less "extreme".

What constitutes as disrespect? Also what sort of punishment? Doesn't any kind of punishment restrict freedom of speech? I'm aginst governments in Islamic countries assuming Islam is correct and then giving it precedence over other religions. Why should they have to pay the jizya to follow their conscience, while the muslims don't have to pay it? In Iran, religious minorties are not given equal treatment. The most pronounced persecution occurs against the Bahai and the irreligious are also not recognized. Despite being the largest religious minority, the Iranian government refuses to recognize the Bahai. Iran has executed thousands of prisoners of conscience under what I consider unjust laws/reasons.

Yes, I'm not muslim, so even if I lived in a country that was predominantly muslim I shouldn't have to wear a hijab (if I was a woman). Maybe, some muslim women don't find not wearing the hijab sinful? Only muslims know what is right and qwhat isn't? Again, this absolute certainity is ridiculous hence the need for relgious toleration and equality. In the U.S. I'm not forced to wear certain clothes, or pressured by the government to follow a certain religion.

I know that unlike Iran, the U.S. has more than four recognized religions and doesn't favor one religion over all others (perhaps Christianity to a degree, but nowhere close to the degree in SA or Iran). Fundamental freedoms are enshrined in the Bill of Rights and the U.S. has also signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The government hasn't always lived up to those principles, but at least the proper principles are in place, which more than I can say for some Islamic countries.

The demand for imposition of sharia law is because some people think it will bring them CHANGE from bad governance, poverty, unemployment, etc which are result of present day system. It is akin to the support for communism in Europe and Russia in the early 20th century. Imposition of sharia like communism, will bring its own evils to the people. Imposition of Sharia will NOT remove bad governance, poverty, unemployment, ONLY true democracy and freedom can do that.

If the pak army really wanted to control the taliban they could do it by strengthening the democracy and the local police, but pak army still wants militants to wage clandestine war with India and so in the process, pakistan is going to be talibanised and pak army will either be killed or join the taliban.

Enforcement of Shariah law appears to be de-facto Taliban rule as lawyers and judges will be replaced by clerics who are appointed by the Taliban. Jurisprudence, law of precedence and Rule of Law will disappear and a vague system of Law based on the whims and fancies of the cleric and ideology of the Taliban will be administered. Life will be Hell for the innocent who is accused.

Reason behind making this peace deal was that using non voilent tribal leaders against the violent Indian RAW and CIA funded terrorists operatin as Talibans when they r not...Now Pakistan army won't have to deal with those Indian RAW terrorists but tribal leaders would do it...but in reply they demand Pakistani govt that they'll use Shria laws and Tribal customs to deal with them and Pakistani Army and govt won't interfere...so seems very good for Pakistan but not for Indians for obvious reason.

Majority Punjabis will never accept talibanisation, as it is a pushtun concept. Civil war is expected in pakistan when punjabis take on the taliban after the army has failed. Talibanisation is indirect pushtoonisation of pakistan which the punjabis will never accept. Zardari may cut deals with Taliban, being a Sindhi, but not the punjabis. Pakistan seems to be on the verge of becoming a failed state.

talibanisation is not pashtun concept. I am a pashtun and dead against talibanisation as are an overwhelming majority of pashtuns. As for taliban themselves they are a mix of pashtuns, punjabis,kashmiris, uzbeks etc. Your analysis is very simplistic, the situation is much different.

Talibanisation has nothig to do with pashunisation as the most radical religous parties have never held sway over these areas but in punjab and major mtropoli like Karachi. Talibanisation is a revolutionary reactionary concept. Extreme brutality by a proxy puppet regime and a chatel military brought down to its knees by people's resistance. This areas has never been a trouble for Pakistan. The likes of Ajmal Kasab and JuD are from Punjab btw.

Also please can you substantiate what you say in terms of taliban leader's son in UK. Finally I really feel sorry for what has been done and goes on in Swat. We are losing the bigger picture here. This weak kneed Pakistani Government will ensure that the Taliban eventually takes control of more parts of Pakistan gradually and eventually, the Pakistani nuclear arsenal.
If Sharia Law is what the people needed, the Pakistani Government could have enforced it. What was the need to hand over the complete control to the AK-47 weilding Taliban.
Their justification that this cease-fire is not meant for the violent section of the Taliban is a big joke.

The Swat Valley has been under Sharia Law since the 1920s, when the British were there; so this is nothing new. In fact, as this deal involves a secular gov't, the Sharia Law imposed now will possibly be less "extreme".
Good move by the gov't to secure peace. We don't need to be fighting our fellow Muslims and dancing at the fingertips of the West, who simply want to use us to achieve their objectives.

I really appreciate that comment, now I see that people know I am acting like a prophet- which is my goal. My goal is to be as close as I can to follow God, and who did it better than the prophets. Therefore it is obvious now that people see that. Those who reject me are therefore aware, but openly reject it.
