I realize this may sound elitist, but everything was better in Pride, except maybe the overuse of freakshow fights and mega mismatches. Even the talent was better, especially at HW, as compared to the UFC.
I don't want to say it will never be the same...but damn.
UFC bought out pride because they realized it was far superior than them, was superbowl of MMA, the road leading up to the grand prix being the road to true fighting glory and victory. it wasnt a bunch of local so cal fighters being brought in, but the best in the world and only the best of ufc could fight here. each bought and fighter had a story and a following. now take a few months off ufc and watch it again and ur like who the fuck are these guys. sad to see it go
@mauysz665 Not at all; Ive traveled in Japan and noticed how they try to imitate western culture and ultimately come up with something shallow and cheap. They've got plenty of culture themselves and I'd like to see them focus on that more.
Why not build a Japanese theme around Pride instead of a gospel choir?!
