  • Great tips........just got a piano 8 years ago but when I was 48 made up some music but all these tips help...Thanks alot

  • wow! that's a 7 minute lesson for a whole year's work. I'll start small and keep on applying this again and again.Thank you.

  • @chadsmeastro Excellent! Take it little by little and you'll get it!

  • @chordsgalore Just one more question! How does one harmonise modes? Especially modes which have tritones (such as South Asian Ragas) and a scale like Phrygian where everything is minor except the 4th and the 5th? Just a question out of curiosity.

  • Thanks for sharing your hard earned work. I'll have to watch it a few times, even though I have been playing for years.

  • I can imagine the jazzy blues possibilities.

    Excuse me sensei.

But can you put up vids of you just playing?

  • Ow!! My brain hurts! Good stuff. I hope to, someday, grasp fully your various bits of knowledge.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @lancethrustworthy Thanks, and sorry about the pain in the brain. But hang in there - it took me forever to learn all this stuff too.

  • Thank you for putting into words what my professor never could. I wish I had seen this sooner it would have ended a lot of grief.

  • Great tutorial!

  • Thank you so much for the tutorial! This will change the way I play forever!

  • When you play the Bb7 how do you know to play a dominant chord? What are the rules to the "what other chord fits the note" rule? Also are there rules when you play the extension because you play a lot of them like polychords such as the Ami/D7

  • I've been playing loads trying to work all this stuff out.... the first time I've been excited about learning something in a while! Please do more demo videos like the last couple of minutes of this where you apply the substitutions and talk over them, they are invaluable!

If you sold a video of say a handful of basic song demos and then applying the chord subs while talking I would buy it

  • That was amazing!!!!!

I have watched so many chord substitution videos and never learned so much in so short an amount of time

  • God bless you more brother. Thanks for sharing

  • Thanks! I use a Yamaha Clavinova baby grand.

  • Love your stuff, do you mind if I ask what make/model keyboard that is? I am planning to upgrade, and that one has a nice bright tone, I think.

  • Your playing is amazing!!!

  • Wow. I don't read or study music but I do play piano (adhoc), these tips/formulas are invaluable. :)

  • @homePicShow It's easier if you go down 3 notes from the root of a chord :D

  • You gave me some ideas for my new song, thanks!

  • Thanks man! :)

  • wow, this is amazing...thank you sooo much! do you have any suggestions for how to go about practicing these techniques?

  • It's people like you that give me my time back. I will use the first technique for now.

  • I've been preparing a question, how to know all those things on the fly during play but you just gived me the answer at the end if this video:) It's sad that I have to wait the whole life:)

  • All these for free? Man - thank you so much.

  • Really cool tips! Thanks for sharing.
