This argument is quite past ripe, but I still want to share my opinion with the stragglers that may whisk through. The reason why everyone was/is so angry about the second game, is because the game itself was lacking in the very essentials of what make a game great. You say that characters and music don't matter to you, but to the majority, it does. The second game tried to "fix what isn't broken" and in my opinion, is nothing like the first game. I could go on and on but sadly... No room...

I know this video is ld but I do agree with you on the kill zombie part. But I don't agree with how they made another short game for full price. I do know that valve is a company and needs to money but why not just add on to the first game and have people pay for it. I'm not a L4D2 boycotter (I bought the game as soon as it came out, after all) but I can understand people who might be concerned with some choices by the developers. And as we saw in this case, most of them proved to be right on the money.
The game is better the the first. I hate to say it but it is. The music fits, the multi-player is much better, the general game play is a lot better. I don't always want to play on-line all the time, but if I can beat a game in less then 5 hrs..... boring. L4D2 takes a lot longer to beat and is more fun to play then the first.
I agree on all points but one - the environments on L4D 2 are terribble. There are too many invisible walls on top of buildings and too little cover etc that stop the Infected side from launching decent ambushes.
ok yeah valve did great for l4d and l4d2 i think the the characters in l4d are better than l4d2 but that is just in my opinion. they both rock. if they make an l4d3 they should make a customizable character thing and the more acievemants you unlock the more stuff you get for you character.
yeah, at the beginning stages of the boycott, there were some ridiculous and rushed concerns about the title, but I do think there were some valid points to be made with the boycott, even though it's rather ironic that the boycott ended up being an extra marketing push for the game.

If you're referring to L4D 1, well, DLC was provided, in the form of Crash Course and the Survival mode. And it does have matchmaking (at least the Xbox L4D 1 , and the L4D 2 Pc versions' do).

It's not "scamming" people out of money, it's an attempt to expand on a great game and the by product is money. The way i see it, Valve has never let us down (not including Ricochet) and everyone's hit by the economic crisis. If this boost of funding helps make HL2ep3 even more fucking awesome then the eps before it, then I'm in. And if I have to live with shooting zombies in the mean time, no complaints on my end.

No, the gameplay is exactly the same, except for the some new melee. You run, shoot, get to safe room; next map do the same thing; next map last stand and next campaign same shit. Now I do agree that L4D2 have LOTS of contents, lots of gun, lots of infected. IT IS a good game.

You are correct. My friends (who all laughed at me for not wasting my money on it) preordered L4D2, and got it on the day of its release.
Since then, they've played a total of less than 30 hours of L4D2, and none of them has played it in the last two months to my knowledge.
In fact, they all have almost DOUBLE the playtime of L4D
The fact is: L4D2 itself is a great game, but it remains to be everything the original should have been. just as as Valve promised it would be

In some aspects, it's even a step back, like the stupid AI bots which SOMEHOW managed to get even dumber, if that's even possible.
I mean, I liked L4D2 and everything, but after some time, I just went back to the first game again and my friends were there too waiting for me.
There's a reason why the first DLC for this game is going to bring back the cast of the first: because we like them a lot better than those we got in the sequel >_> .

If you're referring to L4D 1, well, DLC was provided, in the form of Crash Course and the Survival mode. And it does have matchmaking (at least the Xbox L4D 1 , and the L4D 2 Pc versions' do).

It's not "scamming" people out of money, it's an attempt to expand on a great game and the by product is money. The way i see it, Valve has never let us down (not including Ricochet) and everyone's hit by the economic crisis. If this boost of funding helps make HL2ep3 even more fucking awesome then the eps before it, then I'm in. And if I have to live with shooting zombies in the mean time, no complaints on my end.

Company just wants money. L4D 2 is just a way for them to jip more money out of people seriously they promised new content for the first one then spent most of their efforts making the sequel only giving us crappy DLC like survival mode and crash course(3 crudly made maps not really a whole campaign). Heck when it came out versus wasnt even available for Dead Air and Death Toll showing how incomplete it was at the time. This game is just a what should have been aBig DLC made into a $50 game.

They couldn't possibly release all of the new things that are in left 4 dead 2 in a simple content update.. the gameplay is radically changed. So, that point I disagree with.
However, Valve should have waited to start on it. (instead they should have done some tf2 updates!) Valve fans have been conditioned to waiting for a looong time for sequels after HL2.

No, the gameplay is exactly the same, except for the some new melee. You run, shoot, get to safe room; next map do the same thing; next map last stand and next campaign same shit. Now I do agree that L4D2 have LOTS of contents, lots of gun, lots of infected. IT IS a good game.
The reason for the Boycott is becuz people were piss off that valve make us paid $50 on a game that don't have enough contents and they just gonna abandon it...that is the real reason for boycott not becuz L4D 2 suck...
