I have one of those - mint, (not a '78 I don't think - couple of years later, with a finished BK 117 fuse as well. Afraid to fly it now as I doubt there's any parts around???.. Also have a Kavan Alouette II, that like the Champion, would be flyable with some TLC...

BTW, the Champion was introduced in 1985. Schluters new head design with the flybar under the main blades for the first time!
