lol i work at an animal shelter and if ANY breeders were ever concerned about anything but their pocketbooks in the end they would just stop breeding. people get these dogs, like them till their not cute and dont listen because their not trained, then euthanise them.

Shibas are the best of Japan. They are basically Japanese Huskies. They do very well in cold weather, so if you live in an area that is hot year round, this dog is not for you.

I have one in Oklahoma, and he loves to stay outside a lot when it's cold. But right now during the summer, he stays inside and only goes to the door to be let out when he needs to use the restroom, and then scratches at the door to be let back in after he's done. Their thick coats aren't designed for the severe summers here :( We never leave him outside any longer than we have to during the hot months.

The woman seems annoying because you obviously don't understand what's said but even without knowing the language there's happiness,love and excitement in the voices of the people and in the dog,s response. Look how fat, healthy and happy these pups are! These dogs are free to run and are getting affection. Yes, the lady is very happy. She's speaking Japanese and she's speaking to her puppy's like they're her children. I'm Japanese and my parents keep a Shiba of 9 years old.

But exercise is only a walk of 30 minutes of morning and evening.

He lives in about 2 square meters cages at garden.

So I think you don't have to prepare so wide space for shiba.

But when shiba is young, it's better to let him exercise more.

I love shiba and he remembers me even if I sometimes return to the parents' house.

No, they will always run away, you can pretty much never trust a Shiba off leash unless you have worked on recall and it is 100%, even then, when something runs away, they have a very high prey drive, and they will chase it

Shiba's are pretty miniture... I mean, they're only about 20 inches tall.

But if you're looking for a tiny dog for an apartment or something a shiba really isn't right. They need to have a big yard to play in.

@boss122334 30 minute walk a day? Unless he/she is elderly or the lazy type I don't know many shibas that can get by on such a short walk! Our is 2 yrs old (living in an apartment) and sometimes even three walks of 45 min-1 hr each aren't enough to get rid of all of his energy. And a shiba with extra energy/boredom will wreak a lot of havoc around your house... I would recommend at least two, with a minimum of 30 minutes (more is better)
