Ich hatte vor zwei Jahren einen Unfall mit einem Daihatsu Cuore (japanische Reisschüssel!), ein VW Polo hatte mir die Vorfahrt genommen. Mein Auto war vorne komplett am Arsch und der VW hatte nur einen größeren Kratzer! Naja, das Recht war auf meiner Seite! Heute fahre ich auch einen VW Polo! Da ist noch nichts dran! Deutsche Wert Arbeit!

@Dimcair Although some Chinese company owns it, Volvo's headquarters are in Sweden. They are excellent in safety. A couple years back, they did a test to see how good car seats are in preventing whiplash. Funnily, Toyota's seat, even though the same structure as BMW seats, did better because they were a lot softer. But still, almost every car company out there failed the whiplash test. Volvo's seats passed. out of 114 cars tested, only 18 were labeled good. They really care about safety.

I agree that the German car is a much, much, better car in every aspect except cost and and I also believe that it would probably fair better in a crash, but the footage for the china car is not a 35MPH crash like the BMW footage is, it is going considerably faster.

well you have to admit, the g-forces in the Chinese car are considerably lower due to the harmonica-compressing of the whole car, now the passengers don't die from negative deceleration i.e. impact, but from being crushed to death.. If you ask me, they're on to something

That was the test done on BS6 in June 2007. They did it again in Oct 2007 with an improve version and got 3 stars.

Now Geely Emgrand EC7 and MG6 both got 4 stars. So they are improving. But i suggest to make sure it has a certified EuroNCAP test before you any Chinese cars.

I don't think you people understand that it isn't the crush depth that matters, it's the maximum G load. If you compared that BMW to a ford Model T you would find the model t took even less damage. Of course the occupant inside the vehicle would absorb the force of the impact instead of the car. The more a car is crushed and deforms in a crash, the less force delivered to the occupant. If you looked at g readings from both cars I think you'd be surprised.

@Subparanon Watch the distance between the side mirror and the headrest. It halves, so the steering column crushes your ribcage. The Gs don't matter when your internal organs are smashed to bits. The whole car is deformed so the paramedics can't just open the door. They have to get heavy machinery to cut you out of there. With the BMW, they just open the door and quickly get you to a hospital.
