I agree Wal-Mart is an ideal place for bargains for "mainstream" ammo. I like the 250 round boxes in 9mm and 45ACP. Even get some good deals on .380 ACP HP/FMJ. I wish they'd also sell 45 LC, 308 FMJ and 30-06 FMJ. I guess the point is that Wal-Mart is a great bargain-getting place, depending on the caliber/type of ammo you shoot. I got "burned" on some gun show reloads awhile back, I'll never do that again. BTW, your channel is great! Keep it going!
I live in NC also, getting my CCW in a few weeks, probably going to shooters express.. was looking for the guy in Dallas NC. for the training he does it for 60 bucks vs Sooters express 100... hey can you do an update of prices for ammo? 2012? for the popular .45, 9mm, 40, etc... and any suggestions for newer gun shooters? regarding training? clubs? in our area of Charlotte/Gastonia? thanks for all the videos? how is your work search going? or decided to remain freelance budgetarmory?
@hecalder Good luck on your CCW! I haven't found anything permanent yet, and I don't make enough on YT to pay the bills, but things have been ok. Thanks for asking!
@hecalder Oh, I'm not familiar enough with that area to suggest any classes. I had someone mention to me once that they found someone through the NC Grass Roots folks (I think it was them). Sorry that I couldn't help any more than that. Maybe someone here can give some suggestions.
@sirtom68 BallisticalIy they are identical, but I know that one difference in the 45ACP Champion brass itself is that they use small pistol primers instead of large ones. I don't know why. There's no problem with reloading, but you do have to separate it from your non-Champion brass when priming cases.
wally world umc 250 ct 97 bucks 45 acp no shipping great deal and one of the few things in the store that is not made in china . my only issue with winchester is alot of it is made in the middle east or asia u would be amazed too research ammo and where it was made , then slap a made in usa on the box key word box it was made in the usa, do we make anything anymore???
I bought 2 boxes of federal champion 9mm 1 box was fine 1 box had 10 rounds that were so weak they were like shooting a 22 short. In fact they were not even powerful enough to fully cycle the slide. I have however purchased several boxes of federal 45 acp with no problems. I think I may stick with Winchester white box 100 ct for 9mm which is very similar in price to federal at my Wally World.
@thebudgetarmory1 i bought a few hundred rounds of 9mm 124 grn. from them at the fayetteville gun show...ran great in my M&P...price was ok , quality was great
Hell yeah NC ftw Ive been watching about 10 of your videos and i just figured out you live in NC lo sorry bout to outburst but yeah i always do that when i see a North Carolina dweller on YouTube
one place you might check is georgia arms online you can get it in bulk from there for a pretty good price. it does come in a ammo can, but works really well.
i worked at walmart for 4 years and they get a truck or 2 almost every night but hardly ever is there ammo on the truck maybe once or twice every 3 weeks
im so glad i live in washington st we dont have to take some stupid course to get our conceil carry permits, i just have to apply pay 55 bucks and a couple weeks later get my conceil carry permit in the mail but im not gonna do it for a couple more weeks until i achually pick up my xd and put some rounds through it
@greygoosevodka1 The only other thing I might want is some sort of range qualification. I think people should be able to demonstrate that they can handle a firearm if they want to carry one. There was one guy at our qualification round that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 21 feet! He was an older gentleman shooting a .38 revolver, but he was almost scary the way he was spraying that target. Other than that, it shouldn't be a mountain of paperwork and an eternal wait.
@greygoosevodka1 That's exactly why people should have to take a concealed carry class. Those classes not only teach you safety and how to not shoot yourself when quick drawing. They also show you a very basic how to handle yourself if a fight breaks out at close range and you get grabbed. That kinda stuff in my opinion is absolutely necessary for anyone who's going to have a gun on them and in reach. You need to know how to protect yourself from getting your own gun used on you.
@masterofnotmuch2 Many of the gun shops around here offer classes, usually once a month. Most of the employees at my local shop are retired cops or ex military so they teach real word principles. I would recommend anyone that has access to such resources learn all they can. Ironically in my state you cant carry a gun on you concealed. The only exception is if you have it in a bag like a backpack or fanny pack, unloaded. Just between me and you I don't know too many people that carry that way.
@FaganRoberts I have never seen a state run concealed carry class. All the ones I have ever seen are private classes that give you a certificate of completion.. I do think if states really cared about gun safety they would make these classes mandatory. Too many story's of private citizens who get killed with their own guns. Having the right to concealed carry should go hand in hand with knowing how to use it. If you leave it up to people on their own, some will choose to learn, others will die.
@pac6010 The state mandates concealed carry courses as a matter of legislative fiat. Sets the mandated guidelines. Not enough citizens get killed from negligent discharges to warrant turning a right into a privilege. States are beginning to eliminate CCW licensing, i.e. Arizona and 3 other states to date. You should know there have been no increase in NDs or other such effects as a result. People know well enough about gun safety long before they obtain govt. licenses. And that's a fact, pac.
@FaganRoberts That all really has nothing to do with what I said but ok lol. Thats why its so important to make sure you Vote smart and donate to local gun organizations. None of that negates the need for proper training.
Why does the gun shops here in the north cali valley say the winchester ranger ammo is illegal now friggin bullest are bullets they all fire and kill some just do it messier than others I was forced to buy the fiocchi flat nose for my .40 cal cause everything was out for the next month
I bought some of the 40 S&W at Wallyworld the other day. They're $17 here in N. Cal. Haven't shot any of them yet. Still finding best prices online, even after shipping cost.
Maybe we're getting different Federal ammo in my parts, because I wouldn't call the stuff I got at WalMao "clean burning." Went through a box or two of .40 S&W, and it was filthy as hell. I buy the 100rd white box of Winchester 165gr FMJ for around $27 (I think.) Perfect for punching holes in paper.
@drewdane40 I haven't bought any new boxes for almost a year. I had some stocked up, and since I've started reloading, I haven't had to buy much new ammo. The Federal Champion that I currently have burns as clean as the WB, so it's possible that they've gotten a bit dirtier since then.
@whitestang99 stock up on a few boxes leave on the side for a rainy day and just buy a box when you go out shooting. ammo could be on the rise ,to much crap going on. I just got a 22lr rifle 550 rounds for 12 bucks:)
@The1MOA I'm going through the same problem right now as well. It seems to go in waves with them. They'll have it for a while, then it'll be several months before they get any more in. I dunno.
Walmart will cuts a deal with manufacturers to get the same product either under their name (walmart) or the manufacturer's name, but with a different name designation to help keep the cost down and bought in bulk to pass on the savings to the consumers and if you are smart you buy it in bulk when possible. The cost of ammunition has doubled in the last 5-6 years due to threats of bans only to get sales up on ammo and weapons and magazines.
Just shot 200 rounds of that 9mm tula in my glock 19 it's prety good the only difference is that it's steel cased, well I had no problems what so ever I'm keeping an eye on my gun for wear from the steel case if so I'll bring it up!
@slicksassault I was thinking about using it in an upcoming GSSF match. That way I won't have to worry about collecting my brass for reloading. Thanks for the tip!
@WildLifeGuy308 Say what? Actually, I had another channel with this name (without the '1') way before I knew either of those two guys. I created this one because I couldn't access my original channel when Google required you to link to a gmail account. I have since re-gained access (after numerous messages to YouTube), but I don't intend to move everything over there because it would be too much of a pain.
9 went up $10.47 havent seen any 40 in a while tho but they are carrying some tula 223 it's pretty I shot 500 rounds thru a new cmmg m4 with no hiccups that's what used to break it in... It still looks like new well anyways it was $125 I think if it's just for plinking that's fine... O yea nice kimber! And sweet deal with that AR.
@slicksassault I just bought some Tula 9mm today. I don't know when I'll be able to try it out yet, but I've heard some good things about Tula stuff so far.
@MrAppleseed88 Because of the 1994 AWB that banned importation of ammo from China. And uh, chinks? Certainly you could come up with a more intelligent description than that.
@thebudgetarmory1 how great huh, the one thing we need, and it is illegal to import form the land of slaves. Someone evil was planning way ahead of us.
where did you get this ammo for that price. because i have looked at federal and a box of .40s&w 50 round is like almost 20 dollars. thats a lot compared to pmc and bvac.
@xXxjoemanxXx I got it at our local Wal Mart. It's now a dollar more than when I originally did the video. Remember, it's the Federal Champion, not American Eagle, or any of the other Federal brands. Federal Champion is nothing more than CCI Blazer Brass that's been repackaged specifically for Wal Mart.
I honestly need help finding good but cheap ammo for a .40 S&W. This will be for home defense. I looked at Gold Sabers, but found they were way too expensive. Speer gold dots were good, but nobody sells them online for an honest price. Winchester Rangers were my next guess. But idk where to buy for cheap. Anyone here with experience please give some advice or stores to go to buy a lot of good ammo for cheap. I live in California.
@BloodSeeker117 CA is a totally different animal from what I've read and heard. The good stuff is always expensive, and the best deals on single boxes that I've found is at gun shows (sometimes). If you can buy in bulk, sites like CDNN (catalog only), Cheaper Than Dirt, and Sportsmans Guide will have good prices on premium ammo, but you have to factor in the shipping.
Look into a Lee Pro 1000 progressive press for 170 . You need other things but in the long run it will pay off if your comfortable with pressing your own ammo. With that press you can press about 700 maybe more rnds an hour. I plan on ordering it as soon as I can .. Than all you have to do is get powder, primers and bullets and just reuse the brass more than 50 times as long as they arent cracked
@jerry015 lol I asked this while I was watching before you mention about wanting to reload. I as well would like to and have started to save all my ammo and ask people at the range if I can have theres.
@thebudgetarmory1 Same here...... I try and pick up what I can... After a box or 2 I quicly grab whats in my area. Even neighbors brass if indoors. I usually ask I if he/she wants it before I take neighbors though. Most dont mind. The weekends are great for brass picking up.. just go a shoot a couple hundred rounds. take your time and you can come home with a lot of decent brass, some really good.
@jerry015 I looked at progressives, and I may do that eventually, but I went with a single stage because I want to know each stage 'intimately'. I guess I'm just weird. LOL!
Ed, I know the feeling about finding ammo. As of late I have been buying ammo from Wal-Mart because the one in my area has the value boxes alot in most of the rifle and pistol calibers. A 100rd box of Winchester FMJs in .40 S&W is like $25, IIRC. But it sucks because in a little less than a month, there is a long drawn out process that I will have to go through to purchase ammunition, including submitting fingerprints, DL, etc. Anywho, stay safe, shoot straight, and keep 'em in the ten ring!
@thebudgetarmory1 I kid you not. Right now I'm here in The People's Communist Republik of California is my current locale, at least for the time being. I'm hoping to get back to Texas ASAP because the politicians here are making this poor state come apart at the seams, aside from making it unbearable for the citizens who are gun owners of California. But as for registration of ammo, I guess "you gotta pay to play" cause as you know, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Great vid, Thanks! Like you I try to get ammo at Walmart when I can. While in Colorado, bulk ammo from Cabelas or AmmunitionToGo were cheaper. Now in California (stationed for while here), Walmart is the way to go (until February...)
Hey Ed, great video! I think you're right on target about reliability of the Federal ammo. I'm a new gunner and just bought a Sig P226 in the 9mm. I've put about 500 rounds of Federal ammo through it with no failures whatsoever. Keep up the great work!
You saved me some money man! I watched this video about 6 weeks ago, about the same time I bought a G 17. I have run about 800 rounds of this Fed Champion and 200 rounds of assorted JHP through it with out any problems. Thanks for the vid!
I agree Wal-Mart is an ideal place for bargains for "mainstream" ammo. I like the 250 round boxes in 9mm and 45ACP. Even get some good deals on .380 ACP HP/FMJ. I have since re-gained access (after numerous messages to YouTube), but I don't intend to move everything over there because it would be too much of a pain.

I meant it's good and for 500 rounds it was $125 I went back to get some more it's not so clean but compared to wolf it's better!
slicksassault 11 months ago
9 went up $10.47 havent seen any 40 in a while tho but they are carrying some tula 223 it's pretty I shot 500 rounds thru a new cmmg m4 with no hiccups that's what used to break it in... It still looks like new well anyways it was $125 I think if it's just for plinking that's fine... O yea nice kimber! And sweet deal with that AR.
slicksassault 11 months ago
@slicksassault I just bought some Tula 9mm today. I don't know when I'll be able to try it out yet, but I've heard some good things about Tula stuff so far.

Great vid.. I just got home from wally world n march 13 2011 and a box of fed champs jus went for 10.87 plus tax here in phx az... it's going up..
300bum07 11 months ago
@300bum07 Was that for the 9mm? I think that's about how much we've been paying for it here.
thebudgetarmory1 11 months ago
@thebudgetarmory1 yup 9mm.. they were 9.98 in January I believe.
300bum07 11 months ago
It is so gay the price of ammo is so high. Why the hell are they not getting the chinks to make us tons of this for a penny a ton?
MrAppleseed88 11 months ago
@MrAppleseed88 Because of the 1994 AWB that banned importation of ammo from China. And uh, chinks? Certainly you could come up with a more intelligent description than that.
thebudgetarmory1 11 months ago
@thebudgetarmory1 how great huh, the one thing we need, and it is illegal to import form the land of slaves. Someone evil was planning way ahead of us.
MrAppleseed88 11 months ago
@MrAppleseed88 Yup. Bill Clinton. The same guy that gave them MFN status.

Look for your best prices and suppliers at gun-dealsdotcom
intercooler2 1 year ago
where did you get this ammo for that price. because i have looked at federal and a box of .40s&w 50 round is like almost 20 dollars. thats a lot compared to pmc and bvac.
xXxjoemanxXx 1 year ago

BloodSeeker117 1 year ago
@BloodSeeker117 CA is a totally different animal from what I've read and heard. The good stuff is always expensive, and the best deals on single boxes that I've found is at gun shows (sometimes). If you can buy in bulk, sites like CDNN (catalog only), Cheaper Than Dirt, and Sportsmans Guide will have good prices on premium ammo, but you have to factor in the shipping.
thebudgetarmory1 1 year ago
@thebudgetarmory1 Yea thats what i figured. Shipping to CA on Cheaper than Dirt is $12 bucks!

I got this today For $10.45

Look into a Lee Pro 1000 progressive press for 170 . You need other things but in the long run it will pay off if your comfortable with pressing your own ammo. With that press you can press about 700 maybe more rnds an hour. I plan on ordering it as soon as I can .. Than all you have to do is get powder, primers and bullets and just reuse the brass more than 50 times as long as they arent cracked
jerry015 1 year ago
@jerry015 lol I asked this while I was watching before you mention about wanting to reload. I as well would like to and have started to save all my ammo and ask people at the range if I can have theres.
jerry015 1 year ago
@jerry015 The range I was going to starts to sweep up brass before you have a chance to pick it up yourself.
thebudgetarmory1 1 year ago
@thebudgetarmory1 Same here...... I try and pick up what I can... After a box or 2 I quicly grab whats in my area. Even neighbors brass if indoors. I usually ask I if he/she wants it before I take neighbors though. Most dont mind. The weekends are great for brass picking up.. just go a shoot a couple hundred rounds. take your time and you can come home with a lot of decent brass, some really good.
PublicFilthSpeeks 4 months ago

SergeantZippo 1 year ago
@SergeantZippo Really? You have to register your ammo? What state is that anyhow? Thanks for watching
thebudgetarmory1 1 year ago
@thebudgetarmory1 I kid you not. Right now I'm here in The People's Communist Republik of California is my current locale, at least for the time being. I'm hoping to get back to Texas ASAP because the politicians here are making this poor state come apart at the seams, aside from making it unbearable for the citizens who are gun owners of California. But as for registration of ammo, I guess "you gotta pay to play" cause as you know, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
SergeantZippo 1 year ago
Great vid, Thanks! Like you I try to get ammo at Walmart when I can. While in Colorado, bulk ammo from Cabelas or AmmunitionToGo were cheaper. Now in California (stationed for while here), Walmart is the way to go (until February...)

@ProCovert2 The online stuff is coming down quite a bit, but depending on where you live, shipping costs might be the equalizer. Stay safe!

@mo4life123 Check out WalMart. They still have 50rds of 45ACP (Federal Champion) for $16.98 a box!
thebudgetarmory1 1 year ago
@thebudgetarmory1 lol, I actually forgot to mention that that is the walmart price that I pay for.
mo4life123 1 year ago
Hey Ed, great video! I think you're right on target about reliability of the Federal ammo. I'm a new gunner and just bought a Sig P226 in the 9mm. I've put about 500 rounds of Federal ammo through it with no failures whatsoever. Keep up the great work!
facebookjohn 1 year ago
@facebookjohn Thanks! I had a P226 a while back. Great gun!

You saved me some money man! I watched this video about 6 weeks ago, about the same time I bought a G 17. I have run about 800 rounds of this Fed Champion and 200 rounds of assorted JHP through it with out any problems. Thanks for the vid!
