We swapped a fully rebuilt 8v Gti engine in it. She's running great now. Not very fast but you'd be surprised how well a 1.8 8v can hold it's ground. The're tough little engines. Eventually we might drop a 1.8T from mk4 but we'll see. He has no money to invest in it right now. As for the mags....well those are long gone :) we replaced them with some 15" polished castelets from a Passat syncro.

@brapboys503 try finding one in 10 years time since they are everywhere as you call it ,believe me they will all be gone ,because of that way of thinking ,it happened with the mk1 golf ,smart people take the engine out and store it ,dickheads destroy things .....well because they are dickheads ,...really!
@badslabber Hmm, I can walk down to my buddy Billy Ray's shop and take my pick of any size original VW aircooled engine, from 1300's to 2200cc Porsche aircooled engines. Out here on the West Coast, we pride ourselves in our Dubs.

Most modern polo's have about the same.
Hence why their taking it out for a newer engine.
