The hinge problem ain't nothing! Who holds a phone upside down unless your a bat and if u was a bat u couldn't see, I got the g2 b4 it came out not once have I had any problem! N it has never slowed down!
I have both phones. Just received the G2 last night in the mail and haven't been able to put it down since. I've had the Vibrant for about 2 weeks now and I thought I wouldn't be able to get over how awesome the screen swipes and how pretty it is, but I did once my G2 came...The g2 is faster, & doesn't lag like my brother and I's vibrants do. The G2 also has a slide out keyboard AND UMA calling which is awesome b/c my house has bad signal! This is just my preference.
not bad scores. i kinda want a g2 but not because of these benchmark. i just took back my, mytouch 4g then bought a vibrant from a friend. i will admit the vibrant is better looking and the screen is sexy but geez samsungs ui sucks bad. its so laggy and its sad u need a lag fix to take care of it. now i run stock 2.1 with the lag fix and its still slow to me. the mytouch 4g was way quicker in normal use not in gaming. but i gotta admit this gpu in the vibrant beats the mytouch 4gs gpu hands down
Quadrant this, Linpack that... Yeah, my Galaxy S can score >2400 on Quadrant with the right ROM/kernel/lagfix too, but the G2 still feels faster than that, and so does my current Galaxy S setup which scores 'only' around 1450. Those numbers are just misleading.
The only benchmarks representative for actual speed are the graphics ones that depend on FPS. And even then it's not entirely fair, due to the 56fps cap in the Galaxy S, so it may still perform better on heavy stuff.
@nraudigy That kernel wasn't really running at 1.6ghz and it wasn't showing the true framerate. The devs said it's fake, but they don't really know why.
@WiiRocks66 Neocore is very out of dated with OpenGL 1.1 when all the intense 3D games are running on OpenGL 2.0. Galaxy S/Nexus S are capped at 56 fps/hz in Neocore. A better benchmark would be Nenamark1 since it does OpenGL 2.0, which is the lastest. Try out Dungeon Defenders for yourself. Tegra 2> Hummingbird > Snapdragon
This is just pure epic. Nice music, nice graphics nice theme... the battle of the droids in for supremacy. I hope my phone won't turn on me like that mecha.
Alright people. The Vibrant is an awesome phone. I think we all can agree to that. For the past few months i"ve owned the iphone, htc incredible, htc Evo, samsung vibrant and the G2. The best phones on the market hands down but i can honestly say that the G2 is faster out of the box. Sure the g2 is running 2.2 but think about it. if the G2 also had a 1Gig processor that would even up the game a lil bit and the g2 is still faster. Believe me i have owned ALL of them, So i know.
@Niklastzimbo This is just weak benchmark only OpenGL 1.1. Galaxy S have their framerate locked at around 55.8 which is the screen refresh rate. It can do 70+ fps easily in Neocore. Try Nenemark, which uses the more advanced OpenGL 2.0. G2 gets around 32.5 while Galaxy S gets around 50.
lame, i9000's refresh rate is 56 .. so there's no way you could get higher with a sgs on neocore.. try quadrant, the fps differences are in many occasions around 3 times more on a sgs then g2.
I'd like to see these compared running some OpenGL ES 2.0 content instead of the relic OpenGL ES 1.1. Both phones support ES 2.0. Where are the ES 2.0 tests? Bring forth the shaders!
I've heard comments that the Samsung renders everything in 16 bit mode while the Snapper does it all in 32 bit mode. Anyone have any info on this?
@sp7693 true i just got my g2 on the 10/16/10 since it runs android 2.2 as the stock rom. I was thinking about getting the vibrant but it was still running 2.1 which it will be getting the 2.2 but not till later in the year.
It wasnt the SAME because the G2 started first and the Galazy caught up.... Wait till the Galaxy S2 comes out, yea itll be a while from now but it will be an awesome phone..
Must have had the cpu turned down on vibrant cause I have both and the vibrant is much faster.

That's a nasty glare on the g2. I'm willing to bet if you eliminated the glare, it would look a whole lot better. Poor angle shot for the g2.

The g2 lacks quality and that's why its faster. lol'd to the keyboard and the hinge problem, most people regret buying it.

Alot people still don't know Galaxy S is capped at 56FPS. Always around 56 in Neocore unless u have a FPS uncapped ROM.

I hope the devs can remove the 56 fps cap on the Galaxy S's and game developers will take advantage of the power of the PowerVR SGX 540.

@WiiRocks66 they already removed the cap locked and overclocked to 1.6ghz. it scores 78 fps in Neocore.

G2 3D Blue Room 12 fps > Vibrant 37 fps.
G2 3D DNA 16 fps > Vibrant 40 fps.
You can see Vibrant is at least 2X faster in 3D.

The galaxy s gpu is still hell of alot faster than the adreno 205 gpu in G2.
This benchmark is made and optimized for qualcom hardware so thats why it score more fps in this.

The sgs has a refresh rate of around 56fps, so extremer tests are needed for a more true measurement.
even quake 2 and 3 get maxed out at +/-56fps on a sgs
