Its not pitched up to my knowledge, well the other versions out there sound similar. There is a 'better' version out there in terms of quality anyway.
Still he does nail this song, as he does with quite a few songs from this concert. One of the best from this tour.
I think there can be no doubt this is the best version of the song, also this was before Roger used electronic drums, the one and only concert before he switched to those not quite so good drums!
fucking amazing how many versions r out there please post them all .never got this in the queen conventions. fans post and post this rare music that is out there fuck utube wen the take it of just post more.

damn! i wish they would record on video their first performances on tour...they knew that Freddie later looses his voice! damn! if all people would here this performance...they wouldn't say that Freddie did some tricks in the studio, streched his voice and so on...

"How it hurts - deep inside... When your love has cut you down to size."
Those lyrics hurt the most because it's so true. You feel crushed.

Have yet to hear Freddie sing a poor version of this song. First live version or not, it's still a brilliant version

What the hell?
Freddie's singing the HIGHEST parts?
I thought he never used falsetto live? (The opening)
Gregsynth 3 years ago
How high he sang the intro?
NightShadow54 3 years ago
On the line: "I don't want my freedom," he's singing Bb4 and A4 (same as the record).
Then he goes up to falsetto for the line "There's no reason for living with a broken heart."
Gregsynth 3 years ago
The falsetto part sounded a bit funny, happy sounding.
NightShadow54 2 years ago
It sounds pretty much like the album version. The quality here isn't 100%.

I was there live 1984 when this happened. I am not so sure I was not standing next to the guy who was taping the bootleg of the concert.

Really? You're lucky, as it was one of Freddie's last brilliant performances.
Queenfan81 3 years ago
Yes it was from Queen "The Works" Tour first one of the tour. But of course you would know that. DUH LOL
skinnergc1 3 years ago
Of course. He actually sang it well the first few times, up until about September, where his voice started suffering.
Queenfan81 3 years ago
I love the part where he sings, '..but it happens to everyone!'. Brilliant.
