  • whitney houston sang there in july of the same year.

  • now it's my time to enjoy his music, he'll play tomorrow in Lima ~ Peru, and I'm sooooo excited, i will see him for the first time, hope he plays this song ="), ... come on guys.... Enjoy the life =).

  • I do so wish I could have been there as my LOVE for Elton Johns music is beyond words. Thank You YOU TUBE

  • My name is Jeannie :)

  • Coolest concert ever and i remember seeing it brand new on HBO and wished i could have been in New York for that concert...FREE is my favorite word,LOL:-)Thanks for posting :-)

  • Elton for ever...

  • I think this song was written about me.....I was 16 when this song came out....best summer of my life!

  • Amazing.

  • Awesome

  • This concert must've been something very special to see..Again I LOVE UTUBE and you wonderful people that put this on here. I wonder if ELTON himself ever enjoys all these videos of him at that time...soooo wonderful.

  • Underneath the glamour and superficial shit lies a damn good singer

  • @paydaycharlie the so called artists of today arent even in the same ballpark, shit their not even in the ballparks parking lot, its all flash and NO substinance, these players like elton honed their craft after YEARS of playing, not getting on American idiot and getting a record contract and thinking their the real deal, it makes me sick..

  • i love this song very simple, snow to heard

  • wow, you mean I cant buy this on dvd?

    Lame.

    Fantastic era

  • This man rocks!

  • Simply the best

  • ...and I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover oh there were others who would treat you cruel but oh Jeannie, I will always be your fool...

  • Amazing song, and I gotta agree, Lady Gaga really is horrible.

  • THIS IS A WONDERFUL VERSION OF JEANNIE, probably THE BEST!

Through this whole concert with Tiny Dancer, Yellow Brick Road etc... his MASSIVE talent shines and is mind-boggling till today !!!

  • this is so wondeful. thanks who are the other band mmebers here?

  • Id like to think this is my song its me 100% Name and all

  • What a genius!!

  • 400.000 pessoas!

  • The supporting band mates, Nigel on drums and James Newton Howard on keyboards, Davey Johnstone on guitar, and is that Dee Murray on bass?(4:15)

    What a great lineup.

  • @tk3photo It is the late Dee Murray on bass, but Davey Johnstone wasn't in the band for this one. I'm currently on a mission to find out who the guitarists were.

  • He rarely performed this live.

  • i love elton... i cant find the concert in central park anywhere...i was 8 when it came out on hob and i used to beg my parents to let me stay up and watch it...at 37 there is not one song by elton john that i cant play on bass...ive looked on amazon.com and found nothing...and yet there were 400 thousand ppl at this show and there is no way to find this? if anyone does let me know..

  • @sprintbass Thank heavens for youtube, I know they never release classic Elton John concerts, i love him today, better then ever but his past is undeniably unique as well/amazong either has bootlegs or VHS tapes, which who knows what quality there in.

  • @godwhyisthistaken well see this is what leads me to this... i think tis is why in some cases people pirate things..there is no good reason that this is not availible to the public some 30 years on..elton is still huge and quite alive...obviously there is a demand for it..it was a good show..and nigel olsson is an awesome drummer..I named my black cat nigel in part after him...ill keep a look out for it..its nice to have it on youtube but it would be AWESOME to have it on dvd with good sound

  • @sprintbass I totally agree, i have many concerts on dvd, wheather elton john, nirvana, queen,, great picture and bonus material. Audio is fab, Usally I watch the best quality vids on youtube, yes these vids i have of this concert are pretty, "not good" lol but yeah ;] rocks. Elton John Band truely is awsome, always had a good line up, in 1980 Nigel was back on his line up which rocks, he has a different sound here, that big beat on the snare. Looks the same here from when he first played in 70!

  • @godwhyisthistaken :) i love him...i was 8 or so when this concert came out..but my dad is a PHD in music and my mom is and still is a ballet teacher..so since so much of eltons playing focuses around piano and my dad played it was cool to take something i knew and find something differnt in it that i loved..i took up bass in the mid 80s at 11 or so..i love to play alot of 70s and 80s stuff because its alot more difficult (ghost notes) all sorts of technique you dont hear now, wht prt of USA ru?

  • LOL@ 3:49 THE QUEER ROLLERSKATER.

  • EXELENTE!!!!!

  • love this whole concert. Elton

John is by far one of

the best artists ever, right up there with the Beatles

and Queen. The 70's and 80's had the best music ever in

    history of rock.

  • Does anyone know if "little Jeanie" was a known living person Elton's singing about? When I first heard this tune back in 1981, I thought "she" was Elton's childhood friend or something...Or was she?!!!

    Please let me know. Thanks!

  • I remember seeing this Central Park concert on HBO or Showtime a year or two after the concert. I see Dee Murray (bass) and Nigel Olsson (drums) here, but where is Davey Johnstone?? Don't see him in the video. Also, I see Elton brought along James Newton Howard for additional keyboards. Great song. I remember my niece Jeannie when I hear this song. She was a young girl when Little Jeannie came out.

  • you can buy the VHS on amazon.com

  • I was there that day,, right in the front. There were a lot of other celebs there too including Carly Simon. What a concert it was. Elton puts on a great concert.

  • Elton you have written so many hits, so many classics and I love you so much for writing the soundtrack of my love life

  • Just wonderful!

  • God this song gets me the goose bumps lol

I wish I had grown up in those days. Now I have to put up with trashy pop and mediocre nusic . Too bad!!

  • I was visiting my brother in California. Missed this outdoor concert. Ouch!

  • I am watching this video after 3 years. the other one was removed from youtube. I like this version.. Thanks for re post it.

  • 2:19 Andy Fairweather Low?

  • Nah, Tim Renwick.

  • Elton John is my favorite singer since when i was a kid: i had the honor and privilege to work as Steadicam operator during his exhibition in Verona at the "Arena"... A magic moment!!!!

  • people always laugh at me cause i consider sir elton. more talented than lennon but i dont care.

    mexico love u sir elton

  • I would like to give thanks to The Lord God above for giving me a chance to live through such an interesting music era 'cause what I see in musics noweadays MAKE ME PUKE!!!...

Lady GA GA?----sounds like some uncontrollable disease, or something!!!

  • Amen, Amen!! Amen to that!!!

  • @grumpypant : I hear ya!

  • @grumpypant

Amen, Agree, You are absolutely right. That was the time when music was really music not just showmanship for the mentally retarded.

  • @grumpypant man you aint a kidding, im 41 and I also thank god I was born and lived through the best musical time in history, and my kids who are 16 and 14 think the music of today cant hold a candle to this level of greatness, they like some of the stuff but I catch them listening to kansas, journey, elton john, boston and on and on, they know real music when they hear it....

  • KROY 1240 AM Sacramento, CA 1980

    We missed y'all!!!

  • it is simply awesome!

  • I hope ELTON will release the full show

of this on DVD Video and all shows from

the 70's that were filmed like his GoodBye

show from Wembley Arena'77 before he

took long rest and returned in '79 doing

    shows in Russia.

  • This is weird but I listened to this like 3 time this morning and I feel like 10 yrs old again, soundtrack to my youth.......

  • this sounds just like the studio version except better! Nigel and Dee were on the recording now they're shining with Elton on this performance!

  • Just wonderful!

  • I LOVE this!

  • Thanks SO much for posting this! One of the best performances ever - love the setting, love the song, love the outfit, and you just can't look any cuter than he does at 3:21!

  • ABSOLUTLEY YEAH!!! HE'S THE CUTEST IN THIS VIDEO. I wish I was the microphone. hahaha.

  • You're right, oh god, are we aware we are talking about a gay guy. that's unfair. I want to be a man immediately.

  • Ha! Yeah, me too! And after that, next step: getting David out of the way! Seems almost harder than turning into a man, doesn't it? :) Anyway, Elton is just so amazing. <3

  • lovely performances, the 1980 tour in Northern America was all wonderful.

I've got the little Jeannie's performances from Toronto (maple leaf gardens), Rhode Island, Baltimore and Oakland and of course Central Park!

  • u do? on tape lol

  • lol... naturally not :(

of course just on audio recordings

  • @ElliSun I just need to say( Alton I Love you)

  • Where did you get this concert from? did you torrent?

  • whats torrent? lol nah i got it from the tapes of the original and uploaded on a Elton fan site from which i obtain these clips. :)
