People need to realize that for a lot of "educated" Black students, this is a daily struggle. Too smart for our own and too Black for white people. There was a survey done a while back when they put a black applicant and a white applicant to apply for the same job. Her (self) righteous anger is understandable, the cursing is not a problem, but she contradicts herself: For example: people put her down because she doesn't use 'correct English, then later she defends her knowledge of and use of 'big words' . She is correct that Maya Angelou is a great writer, but of course so is Mark Twain. The world is full of (sometimes unfair) contradictions. Ms. Davis will be fantastic when she gets a little older. One thing about technicalities: Mark Twain's book was not on the side of racism, but he was advocating against it in a time period where doing so could cost his reputation. The language he uses only intensifies this as "nigger Jim," who is uneducated and supposedly inferior because of his improper speech and race, is the wisest, most compassionate, and overal best character in the story.

Brilliant verbal flow and word sound power. Her (self) righteous anger is understandable, the cursing is not a problem, but she contradicts herself: For example: people put her down because she doesn't use 'correct English, then later she defends her knowledge of and use of 'big words' . She is correct that Maya Angelou is a great writer, but of course so is Mark Twain. The world is full of (sometimes unfair) contradictions. Ms. Davis will be fantastic when she gets a little older. Love it.

Love it; very informative. I have never experienced this type of racism, but I totally support you. One thing about technicalities: Mark Twain's book was not on the side of racism, but he was advocating against it in a time period where doing so could cost his reputation. The language he uses only intensifies this as "nigger Jim," who is uneducated and supposedly inferior because of his improper speech and race, is the wisest, most compassionate, and overal best character in the story.
